Have tried this place several times and really want to like it but the deep-fried offerings are always way overcooked. Had the pork tenderloin deep-fried sandwich tonight and it was way overcooked and dry. Mustard sauce was undetectable. Same experience when I had the perch fish fry a couple weeks ago. Turn down the fryer temp or something you are ruining the food. I'd be happy to stop by and show you.

We sat at the bar. Never once did I see any of the bartenders rest they were hopping. But they never neglected a single patron including us. Wish I had gotten our servers name but he was outstanding. I've been here twice. The first time I came in every thing was great. Service was great and the food was great. The second time I stopped in. It was pretty busy. Service was o.k but the food was not eatable. I ordered the same exact food I ordered the previous time but this time the mussels appetizer was spoiled, the mussels turned to mush and smelled liked tuna fish even overpowering the garlic butter base.

I'm not understanding the 4+ star rating on this place. The bar was very loud, so we sat outside. Lovely night for a patio. The server was nice and came over right away, brought our drinks, took our order, then crickets. I asked when we ordered our drinks how fast the kitchen was & she said about 15 min. Our food took nearly 45 minutes. During that time our server completely ignored our table. Didn't check on us once. The food was the topper of our bad experience. The hot chicken sandwich was cold and the "side" of coleslaw is literally a tiny Dixie cup worth. My burger was cooked well and was warm, but it tasted very odd.. I've never had beef taste like that.. kinda gamey, but not at the same time. I'm a pretty good judge on beef because its 90% of my diet. They forgot my bacon, so a manager brought it out separately. I'm pretty sure they cooked it that morning in a microwave. I will say everyone on the staff was pleasant and friendly. Our server was very nice, but I think she was avoiding our table because of how long the kitchen was taking.. not a very good plan. We're not from the area and were here for a business trip. My favorite thing to do when traveling is finding great hidden gems.. this restaurant is NOT it.

The food was excellent! Our server was kind, knowledgeable and prompt.
However, the wait was abysmally long (close to an hour despite being told that it would take 20-25 minutes to be seated), and during most of that time, there was 1, then 2, and then several tables that were empty and not cleared, with multiple parties waiting to be seated for a very, very long time.
We wonder if the above was due to an operations/process issue, because it did not look like there was a shortage of staff, especially seating hostesses, but none of them were able to help clear the tables. We understood that they were not supposed to clear the tables before the tables were officially "closed out", but as somebody who works in management, I imagine that the process can be made more efficient, and that when there is a staff capacity issue, it would make sense for everybody on the team to lend a hand, which did not seem to be an option based on the lack of action by employees who were seemingly not otherwise engaged.
We enjoyed the food and the ambiance, but, sadly, we will not be back.

For Father’s Day we headed to Hot House Tavern in Menomonee Falls Downtown, Wisconsin and let me tell you, it did not disappoint!🔥

This spot is inside a beautifully restored old fire station 🚒 with garage-style doors, a long bar, lots of TVs, and a super cool vibe. We picked a great day too because they were giving out free hats for dad’s big win for my stepdad!

We started with the Parmesan Onion Straws and OMG… these are a must-order. So crispy, so flavorful we could’ve eaten a whole plate by ourselves 🤤🧅

I went with their famous Spicy Chicken Tenders 🍗 and YES the hype is real! Hand-breaded, perfectly fried, crispy outside, juicy inside — seriously some of the best tenders I’ve had. I got the pub chips (they were okay, just could’ve used a little more seasoning) and the coleslaw had an interesting twist to it but still good! Washed it all down with a Dr Sprecher’s 😋

My stepdad got the hot wings 🔥 and they were HUGE. Super meaty, fall-off-the-bone, and full of flavor. My mom ordered the Caesar Chicken Wrap and said it was really tasty great portion size, she couldn’t even finish it!

We were really hoping for a great dining experience, but unfortunately, this visit fell short in several areas. The restaurant was extremely loud, not just from the crowd but because of a poor speaker system that blasted distorted music from the band playing, making it hard to have a conversation.

We were seated in a cramped little corner, which felt more like an afterthought than a proper table. To make matters worse, there was an antique fire extinguisher placed way too close to where we were seated — within reach of our toddler. It ended up falling with a loud crash that startled the entire restaurant. Not exactly a kid-friendly setup or safe placement for something that heavy and breakable.

The food was just okay — fine, but nothing memorable. Definitely not worth the long wait from the time we ordered to when the food finally arrived.

The bright spot of the evening was our server, Tey. He was professional, friendly, and genuinely fun, handling everything with grace despite the chaos around us.

All in all, not an experience we’d rush to repeat. Some simple fixes in layout, sound control, and safety could make a huge difference.

From Great to Unrecognizable

We visited last summer and had a great experience, fresh food, great patio, and solid service. This time was the opposite. I ordered for pickup and arrived after the quoted time. I gave the hostess my name—she left and came back a few minutes later to ask for my name again. She left again, returned holding a receipt, and asked if the order on it was mine (it was). Then she disappeared again for several more minutes before finally bringing out the food. The whole process felt uncoordinated and unnecessarily drawn out like maybe I was forgotten.

Once home, the quality of the food was incredibly disappointing. I ordered the Hot House Chicken Salad, which is marked as "Popular". What I received looked careless and rushed. The lettuce was wilted, and the tomatoes were literally just cut into quartersone giant chunk of tomato per slice (see photos). The extra chicken I paid for consisted of just four thin strips. If that’s “extra,” the regular portion must be 2 slices.....

We spent $40 and ended up with food that looked and tasted like it came from the back of a refrigerator, not a restaurant.

The staff was polite, but clearly disorganized. The food quality has fallen off a cliff compared to our last visit. It's hard to believe this is the same place. They also offer catering which, judging by this experience, could be a very costly mistake. I would absolutely think twice entrusting your special event to these people.

I planned on going to Hot House Tavern on Monday and completely forgot it was St Patrick's Day. It was busy but we got a table right away. We were seated on the other side of the stage so it was loud but good. I started with the Fuzzy Leprechaun drink, which was good. Then we had the cheese curds. I'll be honest, I've had a lot of curds in my life, I've lived in Wisconsin for decades, these were near the top of the list. I then had the hot house chicken sandwich because I had seen so many great pictures of it and it was really good. A little more breading than I would have liked but the flavor was spot on. The pub chips were legit as a side. Very good. Cool building and atmosphere in the old fire station. Enjoy!

I've come here a few times now and have generally enjoyed it. It's great for a summer day with the big open garage doors (though that does sometimes mean flies are around). Whenever something on the menu says hot, they really mean it. Don't take that lightly 😅. I always get the healthy hash on the side and each time it is a little different. Today it was so oily I think it was giving me stomach issues. However, I think this was a one off and will likely order it again in the future. Went for a work lunch and was really pumped to try their fried chicken. I was in the mood for something spicy and good fried chicken is hard to find. I wasn’t a fan of the hot house dip. No where on the menu did it say it was sweet and spicy and I hate sweet/savory. The manager/server was kind enough to comp it off the bill (they didn’t have to do that!) and let me order something else so I tried the southwest chicken wrap. Not a fan of that either - this time it was because the chicken was all gristle. I took two bites and I just couldn’t eat it anymore. I was pulling fat/gristle out of my mouth and I had lost my appetite by then.

Overpriced bar food and very expensive drinks. We wanted to sit outside on a Sunday afternoon and were told that the patio wasn't open. This was at about 3:50 pm. So, we pulled up a seat at the bar where I ordered a Pseudo Sue on tap, only to find out it cost $9. That's a little steep for a pretty common beer. As we were finishing our drinks we noticed that people started sitting on the patio. So we went back up to the hostess to ask why, and she said that service on the patio started at 4. Why couldn't she have just told us that when we arrived at 10 minutes to 4? Everyone in the place just seemed to be milling around and clueless. Not a fan, beer prices are well above average compared to other restaurants in the area. I didn't pay attention at the time, however, I should have to see if I got charged the credit card fee I have read about in other reviews. Sad that they sneak that in when everything is already over priced. Food was mediocre, and I will not be returning.

The staff was amazing, and the atmosphere was very relaxed; however, the food was flavorless. The hot bone-in-wing had a bit of flavor on the outside, but the meat itself tasted like nothing. The cheese curds were typical. The german pot roast was not braised short ribs, it was mostly an arm roast. The only flavor on the burger was the bacon and the barbecue sauce. To each their own, but this was my experience.

It's weirdly hit or miss - usually I get specials/limited time only items wherever I go, but every single one I've had here is just bad. Unfortunately that's not only true of the truly limited items either; the fish fry is wildly inconsistent as well. The chicken is always good, the wraps and sandwiches are great (burgers just okay), and the appetizers are all good from what I've seen, but every side besides the fries is just bland or gross.
Would love to see them offer a smaller menu of only items they truly do well and improve consistency - would easily give five stars, but as I've tried a new item every time, and more than a few offerings are bad or inconsistently cooked, the overall experience has been spotty.

I absolutely loved the energy in here. Our bartender August was the absolute best. As well as Steph! I not only felt welcomed, I felt at home because of them! The food here is amazing and I will most definitely be back. The establishment itself is charismatic with a touch of historic features. I wasn’t expecting pub food to wow me at first, but this place has the best burgers!! The service made it all worth it. 10/10!!

We were there yesterday to eat lunch I ordered the Thai wrap with chicken the first bite I took the pea pod had the stem on it I took it out of my mouth and tried to eat that pea pod and the next one and the we’re inedible tough and old! Hardly any chicken in it and pieces of fat in there and not even chicken! The wrap had just too much sauce in it overwhelming with it. Had a side salad which was not good either. My grown daughter also ordered one of your October specials German pot roast which she said was not good either.There were 13 of us in our party we spent lots of money there for some awful food! I feel you should comp us for another meal on the house.

I came here yesterday for my birthday with my sister n we loved it. The people were great. We had great service. Our food was done in no time. We didn't have to wait long at all to eat. The ribs n fries was definitely on point.(10/10)!!! The lemon pepper wings had a Lil too much lemon pepper. (5/10). Lemon overpowered the chicken flavor. Everything else was great besides the wings. I highly recommend the razzle dazzle drink. That drink was so good. (10/10). I will definitely come here again.

First time there at the Hot House. Wife & I went there for lunch. Was kind of interesting how they turned a old Fire Station into a restaurant. Still remember when they used it for a Firehouse in the Falls. Seating for the restaurant was very nice. Seating was in front on Appleton Ave and also inside and also out back with umbrellas. Menu was quite good but small for items to order from. I had a Flatbread BBQ Chicken type pizza and the wife had a Pasta Dish. Mine was quite good except the edges were burnt. Wife did not care for hers. Don't know if we'll be back. Maybe for drinks and socializing sometime.

I love this place. There's a ton of cool stuff to look at. It's situated in an old fire station, and has the old school decor to match. It's a neat blend of an old building with modern amenities. Very cool.

The food is always great, the service is great. I love the chicken and the Mac and cheese. If you like spicy, there are plenty of options there, too. A particular treat is adding the Hot House Nuggets to your Mac and cheese. Perfect!
