I paid upfront. Then was charged again upon leaving. The failure to disclose upfront the total cost for the scheduled stay is not ethical. Addutionally, there was no room service. I will not return.

The Inn on Madeleine Island is a wonderful place to stay! Their staff went above and beyond to make our time there special. Our room was very comfortable and clean, overlooking lake Superior. Thank you so much for the great stay! We will be back!

Only good selection on the island
The kitchen could be stocked better with pots and pans. Suggest you bring your own food in coolers.

The setting is beautiful. The staff is very nice. The Pub Restaurant was delicious with great service. But, the hotel needs some work, especially considering what it costs per night. The outside needs paint, and repair. The railing on our balcony was not safe. The rooms need updating. We were blasted by the AC all night. Setting it to "quiet" made it tolerable. Yes, it was warm enough that we needed the AC on. The platform bed creaked and groaned anytime one of us moved. I'm glad we only stayed one night.

DO.NOT.STAY.THERE. Not honest management, not honest owners, just NOT HONEST PEOPLE!!! These guys are terrible and will RIP YOU OFF. I made reservations and paid their deposits and money down, over $300 worth! Reservations had to be changed, they said fine and gave me a credit there for the deposits I paid. Later when I tied to make a new reservation to go and stay there, they claimed the employee that did that left, they had no record of it, refused to check, I explained it all to them, they said they would look into it, then check with the other managers and owner, then ultimately said they would NOT honor their prior promise, and would NOT refund my money, and would NOT let me stay there and use the deposit towards a stay with a new reservation. They passed me from person to person, lied and said they would call me back and never would, forced me to leave message after message for their non-existent management, and made me call them and call them to finally get an answer. All I wanted to do was stay there. All I wanted to do was use my deposit and then some and stay for several days. But no, these liars played games, then stole my money and claimed their policy was not to refund because too much time had gone by, and they didn't do that, and I had no written record of it, they changed computers, blah blah blah. They might have gotten a customer for life, but they will never know now, and neither will I, because they will NEVER get my business. What sort of place does that? What sort of management does that? I know which ones, LIARS AND THIEVES. They stole over $300 from me and I NEVER SET FOOT ON THE PROPERTY. Wow. Folks - do not trust them, do not stay with them, they are dishonest, dishonorable people. I hope the place fails. With their lack of customer service, no doubt it will. a 3.5 rating on Tripadvisor... that is for a reason folks - and here is one of them - or rather $300 of them!!

We stopped by for drinks and found it to be the perfect spot to relax outside by the water. Nothing like a margarita with your toes in the sand. The outdoor bar was pet-friendly too, which was great for my friend’s large dog. The indoor bar was equally inviting. Though a bit on the pricier side, we loved the atmosphere and the quick, attentive service.

We stopped at the Pub for dinner and I'll be dreaming of the roasted beet salad with whitefish for a long time. Probably my favorite part of my visit to Madeline Island.😆
Staff and atmosphere were both lovely. Great option for a nice but unpretentious meal.

My wife and I decided to fly up for a last minute anniversary trip and were happy to hear the Inn had a room available. The staff was extremely accommodating and helpful, even providing us a ride back to the airport on the island after our stay. We stayed in the 'bungalows' which were beautiful and private, and were a short walk from the Pub and La Pointe. They also were able to provide us with dining and activity recommendations that turned out to be excellent. The pub at the Inn was the best dinner we had on the island or in Bayfield. We truly wouldn't have had as good of a trip if it wasn't for the incredible service we received. We will absolutely be back to stay again.

We were up at the Apostle Islands for our Anniversary, the drive was beautiful and the Ferry Ride over to Madeline Island was awesome, but our Cabin rental was a bust. Fortunately, Sharon at the front desk of the Inn On Madeline Island was amazing, nice and extremely helpful! We were able to get into a King/Whirlpool - Lake Front Lux Room for our 3 night stay. It was so comfortable with fluffy bedding, lots of squishy pillows and slippery white sheets. Quite the opposite of the rental we had left. The FOOD at The PUB was also AMAZING. My favorite was the mouthwatering Blackened White Fish Cesar Salad but all the meals were amazing - we just ate there most of the time! THANK YOU to the staff at this amazing place. We got a great deal too. I would highly recommend staying / playing and relaxing at The Inn On Madeline Island!

We approached the bar after our first stop of the day off the ferry to get a drink and maybe food. The bartender immediately gave us both waters and said in her experience we need a water and we are intoxicated and she will serve us after 10 minutes of drinking the waters . The couple next to us admitted “I have never seen that we actually were very intoxicated last night and she served us” we sat for a while and another couple came in and was served immediately. This feels like because we were not locals or staying at the venue that were were discriminated against. This is redundant an very bad for business. We love the island and the venues and this is the first time we have ever experienced this. We will never dock our boat here or in the future come here . We felt absolutely disrespected. Terrible establishment

Stayed at the Fairway Suites, right on the golf course. These aren't suites, they are full one bedroom apartments. Towels shaped like cranes, laid out at the foot of the bed greeted us. Rooms were nicely updated, very comfortable. There was a fireplace, gas grill, fancy soaps, two folding suitcase racks, gas grill. the lawn was nicely trimmed and the back lawn area was huge with a cozy firepit. There was also a covered patio with a table and lounge chairs. The vibe of the inn itself was amazing, with great drinks, food and service. The front desk staff were very helpful and nice. One thing missing from the room was a hair dryer, and the front desk staff didn't have one either. I will be back, this place is a great. Madeline Island is just a magical place, and the Inn exceeded my expectations.

We stayed in the Fairway Suites by the golf course over 4th of July Weekend 2024 (Thursday-Sunday). I was a bit scared by some of the bad reviews here, but I have to say that it seems like those people went to a completely different place. The Inn itself is amazing, the pub overlooks the lake and when we arrived it was perfect weather on a mostly sunny evening. The staff was super helpful. We got there late so the front desk staff had left, but self check in was easy. The next day there were two front desk people who were very helpful. The vibe of the Island is amazing, I will be back and I will stay at the Inn. I highly recommend Madeline Island and the Inn anytime you want to stay at a nice hotel in a place the feels way more remote than it really is!

We stopped here for lunch and our food and waitstaff service was top notch. They sat us right away and opened up an umbrella for a nice patio table. The whitefish tacos were great, not too heavy for lunch and seasoned perfectly. My husband’s burger was also perfectly cooked. We played lawn games, enjoyed the beach and a beer. Perfect lunch stop before hopping on the ferry back to Bayfield.

Our daughter got married there over the weekend. It was fantastic!
We originally booked the venue when another person at the Inn was managing. (She is no longer there). We were not getting much attention until Julie, the new Pub manager, took over and made it an absolute perfect weekend! Her attention to detail, get it done attitude and kind spirit was the icing on the cake. Julie was the best as well as her awesome staff! Thank you from all of our family. The bride and groom are so grateful for a memorable experience

My fiance and I booked our room for Apple Fest. We booked here due to the location on Madeline Island and the amenities the room had along with being next store to a restaurant. The day we were going to arrive I double checked my email to ensure everything was set, I noticed it said I would get a "prepare for your stay" email that I never got so I called the Inn to make sure everything was still in order. They ensured it was and sent me the email I was missing. The email stated that the pub was open 7 days a week until Oct 22nd. Great!
We get there, the pub was closed, along with all of the common areas in the hotel, not a huge deal. We get to our room, and one of the 2 beds were clearly slept in and not changed out. The lamps next to our bed were taken off the wall. The jacuzzi (which we were most excited about) had grime/sand and hair in it. I called to have a change of sheets, no room service or anyone to answer the phone. I called the emergency number for the hotel as that was the only option and left a message. I get a call from the maintenance man, saying he will "drop off sheets" for us. I have NEVER been expected to change dirty sheets at a hotel, crazy. He did, drop off sheets. However, for an over 500 dollar stay, I'm not changing out dirty sheets. The next morning we went to the front desk and said we had some concerns we'd like to talk about regarding our room. The first thing the person at the desk said was " best thing to do is send an email". Well there's another concern - no one is here to listen? Nope. I then asked when room service would be able to clean our room. "We don't have any room service today." She explained she was just a fill in as no one in charge is there .... so for our entire stay there was no room service. We asked to have cleaning supplies sent to our room so we'd be able to try and at least enjoy our jacuzzi. She said she would see if the maintenance guy could bring us some. They ended up having someone clean our room. Only addressing the bed and the jacuzzi - no one replaced our towels when it said to leave towels on the floor for them to be replaced. I'm not sure what hotel runs without having any sort of room service, or a manager available. I've never heard of anything like that. So we were there to celebrate our engagement, but we had to worry about cleaning our own room while we were there. We were very happy with the room in general, it was a great room. Extremely disappointed with having an uncleaned room - no room service - and no real hospitality- along with having said the pub would be open, and it wasn't. I emailed the Inn asking someone to reach out to us, and have not heard a thing.

We stayed in a bungalow on the golf course. The layout of the room was nice and the walk in shower was cool. The problems started with the tv stopped working on Saturday. Call the front desk and emergency numbers and got no response. Also went to the office on Saturday afternoon and it was closed. Sunday morning went to take a shower and had zero water pressure again no response.
Also the room had no end or coffee tables. For the prices they charge for a room I expected a better experience. Would not recommended staying there.

Wonderful location on Lake Superior. Great rooms and nice area.
Pool area could use some TLC. Lots of sand on bottom, hot tub only a "lukewarm" tub. Also, gapping holes in pool fence could be fixed.
Would return and liked my stay here.

My husband and I tried to enjoy our honeymoon here and ultimately ended up leaving early after what was a truly miserable experience. We visited on a warm weekend and the air conditioner was not working. It was over 80 degrees in our room during the day and 80 degrees at night when we tried to sleep there. We ultimately ended up not being able to sleep in our room at all and slept with our family who were also staying in town while we were on our honeymoon. The biggest issue is that there was no one available to help us while the air conditioning wasn’t working. The number for emergencies listed in the room was disconnected and there were ZERO staff at the hotel. Their solution was to give us a 25% refund AND make us pay for the night even after we left early as we had such an awful time. Overall, the experience was as disappointing as it could possibly be. The island has a special place in our hearts as it has been a long time family tradition (over 30 years), but we will unfortunately never be returning to the inn or recommending to anyone that we know.

There is nobody working at this hotel except maybe one person who is available only via email and occasionally over the phone. We checked in smoothly via key codes send remotely, but as soon as we opened our two rooms we were faced with near total darkness as most of the lamps in our rooms were not in working order. Door knobs were falling off, the sliding glass door needed to be seriously man-handeled to lock, and when we tried to open the light blocking drapes they detached from the ceiling in a heap. The patio furniture was covered in bird poop. We weren't given the option to have our room cleaned during our required two night stay. It was a huge bummer and I'd rather stay in the state park camp ground in a tent and sleep on the ground during my next trip to Madeline Island.

The room was clean but dated. A light in the bathroom was burned out and the jacuzzi looked dirty (I wouldn’t get in it). Great location on the island. The pub restaurant on the property was great. The touch-less checking and the office being closed early was not great. The pandemic is over, it’s time to have service for people in person. It would have been nice to talk to a human being at check in.

The space for my 4 sisters and I was very good in our Marina Point Condo #505. That is the only positive thing I can say. There was a total lack of upkeep in this unit. The couch was saggy and had food&wrappers under them, the wall paint was peeling and it had broken appliances that were out of order, clogged drains among many other issues. That wasn't even the worst of it. The exterior has had very little if any upkeep for many years. The foundation on the backside (marina side) was literally falling in. It is a unsafe building and to top it off the unit itself was for sale! This review in no way reflects the Inn itself or The Pub restaurant which we truly enjoyed and had a wonderful meal and drinks. My advice to The Inn: disassociate yourself from those marina condos ...they are giving you a black eye!!

Nice and clean, quiet. Rooms were set up differently then typical hotel rooms.
The only dark spot was the a/c was hardly working. It was October, and I am cold blooded, so if I'm hot, it's pretty bad!
Still, the rest of it was lovely.

My husband & I stayed at the bungalows with The Inn on Madeline Island for 1 week & it was pure bliss. The bungalows are so cute & clean, modern & cozy. We had one with a kitchenette & could make many of our meals. The back patio was perfect for enjoying a glass of wine overlooking the pristine golf course. Deer were in our backyard every day. The residents on Madeline Island were so friendly & helpful. We hiked, rode our bikes (which we brought), rented mopeds, enjoyed the new Inn on Madeline Island's hot tub. We talked about coming back every year so many times while we were there. It was the perfect calm to our crazy life. 10/10 would recommend.

The room is very basic, good enough for what we wanted. We just needed somewhere to sleep. TV was small, no shampoo for showering, pillows weren't comfortable.
Good enough place for the price.
My biggest complaint is that the walls are paper thin. You can clearly hear the conversation happening in the next room over through the connected door in your room.

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with a best western. Great place if you are traveling and need a place with clean linens and a place to sleep. Although here you don't even get that. The towels are 50 shades of white. Good news though you could wear any of towels to a wedding and the bride wouldn't get mad that you wore white since she probably wouldn't even know they were supposed to be white. (FYI. Follow laundry, love and science on Facebook. Great website for teaching how to clean and do laundry. I think the Inn could learn a few things). Second biggest issue was the air conditioner kept leaking water. I did report that immediately and maintaince did come. Although it only made it worse. The tub /shower didn't drain. Again, reporting it only made it worse. My kids just started taking baths and I perfected the 30 second shower. Best part about the hotel is the pool. Although if you have kids I don't recommend using it after noon. Unfortunately it is right next to the bar and the language adults use at a bar is not appropriate for kids to hear. Although if you are looking for a place to stay, don't stay here. I have stayed at many of the VRBO houses and they all are 5 stars.

Old and run down. All towels should be replaced. One of the two queen beds in room 304 should also be replaced, very uncomfortable, springs made noise. Got locked out of our room on the 3rd day. Good thing the cleaning gal was there to help. We ate at The Pub one night. The waitress was too busy schmoozing with the two men next to us, while we waited for service. She gleefully showed off the business card to her co-worker one of them handed to her. Will not be staying here again. Nice view and dock.

I'll start by saying my visit was the first weekend of the off season of the island, so my experience is going to be different compared to the vacation months.
No one was in the office or on hotel grounds when we arrived on Saturday, our keys and instructions were place outside on a bulletin board. Luckily the wind didn't rip the envelope off and blow it away, we would not have known what to do. We did not receive any instructions or a heads up in an email and there was no contact number listed on the bulletin board.
If you're staying during the off season, be sure to buy and pack food and snacks to bring with you. The hotel restaurant and everything on the island was closed. Makes sense but it is something we mistakenly did not think of. There is a year round market that is open, but choices were limited and everything was 2-4 dollars more expensive than the main land. Keep that in mind.
The room itself was in pretty decent shape when we checked in, there was a few spots that were cleaned pretty poorly but with being the off season and everything, that didn't bother me at all. The couch in our room had some pretty big tears in it that were not patched up, that was the worst part of the room. There was patio with some great views of the water, a fireplace that made it quick cozy on the windy days.
Overall it was a good experience and I would stay here again. The two photos I did include in this review are the views from the beach and from our patio.

We stayed at the pet friendly bungalows a few minutes away from the Inn. The unit was light, modern and clean with ceramic wood plank floors and lots of off-white shiplap everywhere. Joanna Gaines would be very flattered with the reinterpretation of her HGTV aesthetic. The grounds were quite beautiful, with well maintained grassy pathways with gorgeous fall trees. The drawbacks were that: 1) the only place to sit comfortably was an oversized chair fit for one normal adult in front of the fireplace...why not a love seat for two at least? Or better, two chairs? We took turns sitting in the one comfortable chair; 2) The bathroom was massive with no fan in the toilet room and the tub was elevated on a platform that I tripped over several times at night (awkward). Maybe a nightlight near it?; 3) Kitchenette is placed right by the front door (awkward)--I would have rather had more kitchen space and less massive bathroom (shower alone is 3x the size of the kitchenette area and the bathroom was 3x the size of the dining area, odd). If you remodel eventually, I would consider changing this especially considering that dinning options are limited on the Island and it'd be nice to be able to cook a meal in the unit; 4) All of the wall art was themed with 1951 The African Queen movie memorabilia with love scenes of Kathrine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart (really, really awkward). Why not share art representing the gorgeous landscapes of the coastlines, beaches and forests of the Apostle Islands? You could name each unit after an actual Apostle Island? 5) it'd also be great to have a screen door for the backdoor patio. The backyard and patio were so beautiful and there was no way of enjoying from inside the unit without the back door wide open (flies and mosquitos, awkward). That said, I was thankful to stay in a clean, pet friendly, quiet place. Thank you from the peanut gallery.

You may want to reconsider staying here
The pool was closed ( no notice to us prior to traveling from Minnesota with two girls who were very disappointed )
Website says there is a hot tub at the villas -it was all boarded up. The grounds were in need of cleaning and maintenance. No coffee to be found and no one answered the phone for questions and linen needs. We dined at the Pub ($100+ Later) not including our bar tab that we paid cash for and we’re fly bitten due to dirty floor and basically it was self serve on paper plates - very disappointing. We love Madeline Island but are very disappointed with the Inn.

We just checked in. Not good. When we booked online, we didn't see any other building besides the inn that is on the lakefront. We didn't know we would be in a fourplex, on the second floor with outdoor stairs, in the middle of the woods. Nowhere near the lake or pool. It looks like some things were remodeled and it appears clean. Thought we'd wake up to the sounds of the waves on the shore, but nope, in the middle of the forest in an old apartment building. When we called the front desk at 4:30pm, we received a voicemail that they are gone for the day and only emergencies can be addressed till morning. You can't check in till after 3pm and the office closes at 4pm. So, you have 1 hour to speak with someone if you arrive during that 1 hour timeframe. Couldn't be more dissapointed abd we've only been here for 30 minutes. My advice? Don't, just don't. Would go with 1 star rating, but it did appear clean.

The pub will be closed for 2 days as are many of the restaurants, so not sure where we are going to eat. The resort should have warned the guests to bring food that could be prepared in the mini microwave.

Our room wasn't ready when we tried to check in. The door was locked so we walked in to the bar to see if anyone knew what was going on. The bar tender said when our room is ready, they will tack an envelope to the bulletin board. If there's no envelope, it's not ready. We walked around the grounds for an hour, checked out the pool and had the free drink we were offered. The pool was filthy with sand and debris, and so were the grounds. We called to cancel our reservation because our room still wasn't ready. Very poor experience on our first trip to Madeline Island. We took the first ferry back to Bayfield. So disappointing.

My husband and I arrived there under false web site expectations. So disappointed and beware, it's not the place you want. The air conditioner was not working, screen doors were ripped off, closet door broken and to add to it, the pool and hot tub was abandoned and full of debris and not working. What kind of business promises to fix things and manager never called back. Had to ask for shampoo! Restaurant wasn't open either. We will never stay there again!!

Review for the restaurant:
Family got ignored, seems like we were ignored on purpose. Food wasn’t that great. I wouldn’t come here again. Waited like half hour for our bill after finished eating. Everyone else was priority but us, even if we got here before other people.

We checked into our ”king suite” Friday night after a long drive to Wisconsin and a ferry ride. We got into our room and at first everything was great. Then the problems started... We missed an email about ”bringing our own comforter” and so the bed had a thin blanket and 2 sheets. Okay, we can live with that. Then more problems reveal them selves. The room has living and dead bugs in the corners, the bed is probably 10 years old and has dents in it from other people sleeping there, the hardware in the unit is dated and worn. The biggest thing was that we had no air conditioning in our room after fumbling with this ancient mini split they have set up. It was 75+ degrees in our room all night long. MISERABLE. They have this “EMERGENCY line” that we did not call because, the a/c definitely has mechanical issues and the likelihood of a maintenance man remedying that in the middle of the night are slim to none. I feel like for $305 a night these problems shouldn’t even exist with a climate control system. We were called by a manager after we told the front desk woman this morning that we were checking out. She offered us a blanket but, couldn’t move us to a different room with proper A/C. Bye. You can tell the owner of this inn is cheap as when we awoke to go to breakfast the lights were off in the hallways. 🙄The woman who called us really should take a different approach with customer service as we were made to feel like all of this is just standard and basically we were SOL. She also cut my husband off multiple times on the phone and was just plain rude.
I wouldn’t be writing this review if the manager wasn’t so rude to us on the phone but, that was just icing on the cake to not getting a refund and being told this was basically “our fault because we didn’t give them an opportunity to remedy the situation”. Once again, motel 6s have working a/c and I feel like the guests shouldn’t have to be the ones who find out that it doesn’t work. Also they’re less money.😉

We stayed here two nights on a little weekend getaway. We got to stay in the Bungalow, which was amazing. They are two-unit buildings just a half-mile away from the Inn itself. It's maybe about 500 sq ft with a bed, beautiful bathroom (clawfoot tub, huge walk-in shower) and a dining/kitchenette area. There's even a little fire pit out back you can use. You're just a quick drive from town (couple minutes) and the accommodations are just perfect. We had two to-go meals at the Pub which were great (had the pub burger and the Island Veggie burger, which I thought was better). I think we paid maybe around $230/night which I thought was well worth it!

I’d love to give it 5 stars but we had quite a few issues. We stayed in one of the brand new bungalows, which was lovely but not without its problems. The fireplace was not actually hooked up so it couldn’t be used, but we weren’t told that until we asked about how to get it to operate. The hot/cold faucets on the beautiful new tub were plumbed backwards. The pocket door on the bathroom couldn’t be closed all the way without it coming off its track and trapping the occupant. We chose this resort as it was pet friendly, upon our return from a day exploring the island both of our room keys were deactivated. We tried to call the resort and got voice mail (keeping in mind my dogs were locked inside at this point). We drove back to the hotel reservation area at 3pm on a Sunday to find them closed completely (hours posted daily to 5pm). After calling an emergency number we met the maintenance individual back at the bungalow 20 minutes later. All in all a very frustrating and helpless situation.

Very friendly customer service, clean rooms. Just wish the rooms would have been closer to town/water. But was extremely happy with the pet friendlyness of the place-plenty of yard for the dog to play.

Amazing views. Best wine selection in the island. During the summer you can rent boats, jet skis, SUP boards and more at the water front. There is yoga by the pool some mornings. Great rooms and rentals located all over the island. Also has on and off site catering. Come for dinner and watch the sunset from the patio!
