The food usually is good but consistency is an issue. Friday we stopped in for fish dinner. We like to have a glass of water with our meal but sometimes they charge, sometimes they don’t. This time I asked the waitress why that was. She said it was because in summer they have an issue with ice machine. Then why did she give us a glass of ice with the bottled water!? And we have come in the summer and not charged. Also, the butt of a bread loaf should not be used as a slice of bread.

We had the fish today. Poor man's lobster was not very good. Cod dinner breading was soggy. Cole slaw was nasty and requested extra crispy hash browns were mush. Tenderloin steak sandwich was cold and appeared old. The clam chowder was good though.

Only and I mean the only complaint is that there are no "low" seating in the bar area, nor will they "allow" seating in the restaurant area for those that are elderly or have difficulty trying to sit on the high barstools. I have turned around and left many times from enjoying a dinner there due to this one reason. And yes I do not wish to sit outside due to heat or humidity for health reasons.

Slooooow service, waitresses who don't know the drink or food specials, no butter for my bread, canned soda which i waited over 20 mins for only for her to bring me the wrong soda, no lemons served with my fish fry, luke warm food, fried pickles cut so thick if you bite into them all the breading falls off, refused to server my mom a glass of tap water after she was drinking. Instead told us they only had bottled water.

The cherry on top...she brought our fish fry out and asked if someone wasn't going to eat bread because only 4 of 5 plates had bread. I asked if there was a bread shortage because each plate you pay for comes with bread.. she said no shortage, she just decided that not all people want bread so she doesn't give everyone bread. My aunt had to awkwardly hand me her bread since I didn't have any. Weird that the meal comes with bread and im paying for bread but you're over here playing bread police.

Disappointing takeout fishfry and perch dinner. No tartar sauce and shorted 2 pieces of perch. Husband didn't check before bringing home but called and got an "aahh" answer which he responded just wanted to let you know - forget it and hung up. We waited 35 minutes just to get water on a weekday afternoon. The burger was tasty and large, the other two dishes were more school kitchen level. The menu pricing was misleading. They charge $2 for a glass of water. For the $2 can of sodas they don’t even bring you a cup of ice. Oh and they force 18% gratuity on families of only 5 people AND they write in bold lettering on the receipt how you must also pay them a tip on the taxes amount.

We where at the lighthouse on the 4th, and where very let down by the service and food quality.
We watched after tables who arrived much later than us received their food.
Approaching 90 min and over 30 min since we saw our server, we tried to find a manager. To our surprise there wasn't one onsite.
We told them we where leaving and all of of a sudden our food was going to be ready.
We decided to eat as it was getting late.
Unfortunately our food was not good, or anywhere near the quality that we have had there in the past.
We will visit different places in the future.

Great spot for a drink & a fish fry! Outdoor ambiance is really nice with a good amount of comfortable seating. Boat parking is available if you are traveling via the lake. Great atmosphere, nice staff. If they did better in the food it would be a great place. Ordered steak sandwich medium rare; it was well done and only came with an onion ring on it. My husband ordered a burger which was just ok and cousin had chicken bacon ranch wrap - had to add coleslaw on it to make it somewhat good. We ordered bloody Marys that came with a beer coaster that, literally was a shot of draft beer . I wish this place was better food wise as it’s a really nice place.

The only thing this place has going for it is the location. It’s a good thing for them there aren’t more choices on the lake. The servers are rude, the food is subpar, and it’s overpriced. And when I say the servers are rude, I’m being kind. But….it’s on the water. As a local, let me tell you Shawano has a LOT better to offer. You’re better off docking and walking to any number of establishments on the lake that will serve your food without acting like it’s a chore. If you miss that attitude your teen daughter used to throw at you, great place to stop

This was a hopping place on a Saturday around noon. We were a group of 8 motorcyclist, and we wanted to sit outside, the hostess, was able to accommodate us. The waitress Kim was amazing! Looking for a good place for a Friday fish fry on a recent trip to Shawano, I discovered this place. After reading reviews, decided to give The Lighthouse a try. Reviews definitely right for this place! One of the best fish fry’s ever! We try various places based on reviews and many have disappointed. We are considering a trip back to Shawano just to stop in here for Friday perch plate.

Update: went back the following weekend on Sunday & had a totally different experience. This time when we asked for water we were told they only had BOTTLED water available (at a charge). Ordered two hamburgers that were served raw, not just pink. They were raw. Fries were cold. Sent both orders back. Second time around one was good but one was pink inside. Edible but not well done as preferred.

My husband and I have been here many times before and never had a bad service but this time was probably the worst we have had. We went in for Friday fish and sat in the back dinning room and our waiter hardly even checked up on us for drinks or our food. There were about 7 to 8 other tables in the room besides us she waited on everyone else except us. We had our drinks setting at the edge of our table for 20 minutes waiting for a refill. She never even noticed our drinks empty but noticed everyone else's. I will say this by far the worst service my husband and I have ever had here. The Lighthouse has some great food and awesome employees. They have a patio in the back which over looks the river which is within 3 feet away from the patio. The patio furniture and tables are very comfortable. Very peaceful relaxing place but u can also watch people dock to come have food or grab a beer or drinks. LOVED IT!!

My friend, Deanna, and I decided to stop by after having a day off to relax. The staff is friendly and cheerful, and the food is wonderful! I really wish I had taken the time to remember my server's name. She's got red hair and wears it in a braid. She seriously deserves a big raise.

Deanna can't see very well, and our server was very patient and understanding. It was, in all, a great experience. We definitely plan on going back again.
