First before I talk about how bad our steak was I’ll say the server was fantastic very attentive and professional this establishment should be happy to have her. On to the bad my Boyfriend and I both ordered the sirloin med rare and same sides, our steaks first came med well and well done. ( we also didn’t eat more then one bite before we asked to have it done the way we ordered. The steaks they sent out to replace were just unfortunately full of tendons and one was grey. We got to go boxes paid the full bill plus just shy of twenty percent tip because again the service was great, I can’t say I’ll ever come again because it just was not worth 28 dollars a steak.

The scenery was beautiful and our waiter was friendly, but the food was very disappointing. I ordered the fish tacos and they came with a tiny 50 cent piece sized fish. They menu said they had cilantro lime dressing, but there was only plain cream and some brown guacamole-like substance. It was all so sadly bland. The tortillas were cold from a package, not even warmed on the grill! The bulk of it was coleslaw. $15 for packaged coleslaw in a cold tortilla. The kids’ burgers were big, but again we had to ask for things like lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mustard, ketchup… standard burger stuff you would think would be included. Nothing felt like a whole meal. Be prepared for JUST Mac and cheese, no sides or flourishes. JUST a burger patty between a bun. We ate at many other much better places in the area.

Great location on the golf course, with indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant is clean and has a nice atmosphere. Staff are helpful and provided us excellent service. The Local has the best appetizers in town and a creative menu that offers something for everyone. They offer weekly trivia, specials, events and fun activities. Being a tourist to Ashland, WI and counting this as one of my favorite cities to vacation, I can say there are much better places to eat in the area. This is just okay. Nothing to write home or even post about to be honest. It is a golf course bar in a small blue collar town that serves food. The food here is too much of a promise for the grill and not enough on follow-through. Save your money and eat elsewhere. This is a better place if you golf and just drink.

Es gibt außerdem einige Spielmöglichkeiten wie Axt werfen, was aber nur mittelmäßig Spaß gemacht hat, den die Äxte sind so stumpf, das von 40 Würfen nur zwei versuche gerade so stecken geblieben sind. My salmon was pretty good. The salad bar had a large variety of toppings. The potato rings were amazing. My husband had steak and it was slightly overcooked and FYI, they don't have steak sauce. **Edit** They added a vegan burger! It comes automatically vegan (no cheese or mayo), which is great. We even inquired about the gluten free bun and they were so happy to help. The salad bar is fantastic and such a great price. I also heard they are working on their NA drink options! They changed this place so much and their hardwork has paid off. It's so cool.

This place is so nice in the summer! The patio is great and the service is fabulous. I wish they had some vegan options though! I would come all the time if I could eat something other than fries and salad!

Moral of the review: highly recommend!

What we had: the prime rib sandwich and the Alfredo with salmon added, and two brandy old fashioneds.

The service was very fast and very friendly. Had good conversations with the bar tender and the waitress.

The drinks: some of the best brandy old fashioneds we've had! (and it's our go to everywhere)

The food: the food was excellent! The salmon Alfredo rivaled a dish i had in France. The prime rib sandwich was excellent, too! Highly recommend both options. We were both very happy with our choices and will order both again next time we come in.

The atmosphere: it was a quiet evening, an hour or so prior to closing. It was quiet and friendly. I'm sure with or without the house being packed, we would have the same wonderful fast service! The bartender (with great hair) and the waitress (with the wonderful smile) were fantastic and made the night a great experience!

(only addition i would recommend to the establishment is adding a new special - could be once a month - with two salmon types on the same alfredo plate - the current salmon plus some smoked salmon and a little extra parm - then you'll beat the dish I had in France!)

We stopped in to have lunch on our way to Hurley, and we had never been to the local before. When we drove up, we found that it was on a golf course. We walked in, and there was no hostess, but the girl behind the bar told us to sit anywhere. There was a wait before we were able to order and we found out that the bartender was having to cover both, but we each ordered a bloody mary, and I had the Philly sandwich and onion rings my wife had the alfredo. The drinks came, and I have to say that it was in the top 3 worst Bloody Mary's I have ever had. Just plain tomato juice and vodka. Needless to say, we didn't have high expectations for the food. Our order came out, and I was pleasantly surprised. My sandwich was huge, and the onion rings were really good. My wife raved about the alfredo sauce and still says that it was the best she has tasted. The atmosphere was kind of lacking. It had that we just opened kind of feel like they tossed some booths against the wall and set up some tables.

Ceasarsallad was good. Vine was good. View is great and the company was awesome. We came as a big dropin company (8 people) and it was ok. Weather was beatiful and there was empty seats outside with a great view. We asked for a table outside, and we got a table inside, at least I could see my friends. I felt like they wanted to get rid of us fast. I got a fastfood feeling. The bill came before we finished our food, and when we finished our food and left there still was empty outside.

The place was mostly empty and we had to wait 40 min for it drinks. When we asked if someone could help us we were told, "I don't know who is supposed to have that section, but it isn't me.". Usually this is a good place to go, but this time was very very disappointing

Update: so we have come back s few times since the original post. Mostly, experiences have been good. But tonight, we hit a new low sadly.

Ordered the 10 oz sirloin, asked for it to be rare. I'm attaching a pic of it, but at best, this is medium well. And, this was their second attempt and the manager said "we are not doing it again because we don't know how to cook it that way.". Really?!

If you go here, order the cheese curds, the swedish meatballs, or wait for the prime rib special. Don't get the steak unless you like hockey puck cooking.

We stopped here 2 days prior to this visit, but they were closed for an employee event. So glad we came back! The food was delicious and the service was great! Highly recommend the crab stuffed mushrooms and the cheese curd burger. Also, the portions were generous. We ordered an extra side of asparagus each, but could have easily split one, and the charge was very reasonable for this extra side. We will definitely eat here again when we are in the area. Ordinarily, I like the place, but it really depends on what you order. I find their buffet to be bland and processed...avoid. The items I've ordered off the menu have been pretty good; Not great, but slightly better than average for this area.
My last visit, I had the soup & salad bar. Halfway through eating my salad, I noticed a large clump of mud on my lettuce (ewww), so I showed the server and she went to the kitchen to tell them. Upon returning, she said they would check the salad bar...
I was seated directly facing the salad bar and nobody ever did come check it. Not only that, no manager came over to apologize and no comp was offered. This place is now off my go to list :(

We had lunch on Monday, Labor Day.. there was one server and one cook. We waited to be seated for approximately 10 minutes. There was 3 other tables having lunch. The food was fair. The server was busy and did what she could just to keep up.
The men’s restroom was disgusting . The urinals were awful. Strong smell and pubic hair on both. The sink area hadn’t been cleaned, floor was wet and dirty. It was very warm and smelly in the bathroom. You should keep the urinal full of ice. As it melts, it washes down the pee.

Took a chance on dinning at this place since we were visiting from out of town. The food, service and atmosphere was exceptional! Our server, Jacob, did a fantastic job!!! He was very charismatic and knowledgeable of the menu and also offered us a fun treat after our meal. We asked him for recommendations which were amazing like the shrimp lettuce wraps for an appetizer. We got the ribeye to split with a side of wild mushrooms and loaded tator tots. The steak alone was one of the best steaks we ate in our entire life! Grilled perfectly to the medium-rare which we requested. We loved the atmosphere. It could be as formal or casual as you wished. It was a beautiful setting on the golf course with beautiful views of the setting sun overlooking Chequamegon Bay. I also liked the private booth we were seated in which made a wonderful evening for me and my wife. A plus all around! Great job to all that made our evening special!

This is a little gem I found yesterday! The bartender/waitress was just a wonderful spirit that made it even more memorable. Food is great! Appetizers are fresh and awesome. My mom loved their lobster bisque. The fresh pretzel, cheese curds, onion rings… mmm mmm mmm! I also enjoyed my virgin Bloody Mary and my son their apple cider juice.

What a welcome addition to the dining scene in Ashland. I was very impressed with the Local during my recent trip to Ashland. Started out with cup of soup that was excellent, had the fish & chips for my entree. The fish was served with malt vinegar mayo which was excellent. Also, the french fries were fresh cut, not frozen. The service was excellent, the price reasonable and the owner was making the rounds. Great place, whenever I'm in Ashland, I'll be stopping in.

A fantastic new place to eat in Ashland. Tastefully renovated, located on a picturesque golf course. Cool fireplace on back wall. Great menu and family friendly. This place has a nice atmosphere and the two times I was there the waitresses were good and kind. The drinks are good, a little pricy. The food on the other hand is a different story. There is absolutely no flavor at all in most of the meals. And the couple times I was there my group had a variety of the meals/appetizers. The pasta dish wasn’t cooked right, the noodles were Rick hard. Almost every meal had no flavor or spices. It didn’t even taste like they used salt and pepper. If you’re going for drinks it is a nice place. But they are really going to need to step it up in the food department. Frozen store-bought meals have more flavor.

We had our first meal at this newly opened gem of a restaurant in Ashland, Wisconsin! It was outstanding!! My wife and I tried a variety of menu items, since the offerings were so unique. The giant pretzel appetizer was fantastic, served in a unique way! Crab Dip & Crostini was over the top! And, the cheese curds come just the way I like them! Crispy and cheesy with a berry-based ketchup!! While the fish special was to die for - an amazing whitefish over rice pilaf, the star of the show for me was the Turkey Cranberry Sandwich (pictured)! Not your ordinary turkey sandwich - juicy with a blend of flavors that you will be coming back for in the near future! The service was amazing and the ambience was something the Northern Wisconsin area has needed for a long time - a place for community to gather! Highly recommend!!
