Whole place has a funky old musty smell. Bathroom was dingy, room was dated and musty. Not worth the $300 a night.

Attended a week long painting conference at the Lodge. The hosts, Ana and Milan could not have been more welcoming or accommodating to our group of 75 people with various dietary needs. The rooms were spacious and had a private balcony. Maid service was DAILY without asking! Everything was very clean and comfortable and meals were delicious. Would definitely stay here again, and plan to return next year.

The pictures online do not accurately represent the actual room you might end up with! The place is a dump! It needs to be gutted and remodeled. The bed was saggy, the shower faucet did not work, furniture was old, and it was almost $200 per night. It felt dirty and creepy. We talked to other guests and they were unpleasantly surprised as well. They said the weekend rate included breakfast. I would not be able to eat there if the kitchen was kept like the “Harbor House”. Beware!

Rooms are definitely dated, but clean and comfortable overall. Nothing fancy, but it’s a good place to lay your head at night and the staff is top notch, very helpful and friendly! Right off the water is a beautiful view! Close to downtown area, and a good spot at the bottom of the peninsula so you can travel up either side of it. They also offer omelets to order for breakfast along with your standard continental options. We will definitely be back.

The staff is very pleasant and very accommodating. The rooms are somewhat dated, but a comfortable bed and a nice hot tub was a plus. Had a lot of room to move around. The housekeeping staff worked really hard to get us in for an early check in, so they were very busy Lots of room to walk the dogs, and had a little patio where we could sit and take the dogs out. Had a decent free breakfast in the main lodge with an omelet station.

We planned a door county gett away and picked The Lodge at Leathem Smith because of their location and website information.
We made a terrible mistake. The place is old, outdated, worn old, and poorly maintained. It appears a patio area was started but never finished. Landscaping plantswere not planted or if planted were not watered. Patio bricks were lying around. Disgusting. Everything needs updating.
The prices charged are terrible for what you get.
So many negatives, to hard to list all. Very dirty, bathroom and other rooms, slow shower drain - standing in dirty water. Deck looked pleasant but patio door need major muscle to open, outside looks like it had never been cleaned and very old, many spiders
The staff was pleasant but communication was difficult.
Definately would not go again and will encourge everyone we can to stay away.
The owners should be embarrassed. We should get a refund because we did not get a room as promoted on their website.

The rooms make the motel eight look spectacular!! The lodge is nice with entertainment and a nice tiki bar, but do not spend the night. The motel needs a serious makeover. I can’t believe I’m in the United States. I feel like I’m in a foreign country or taken back to 1980. They could easily remodel the rooms. It wouldn’t take much. The free breakfast looked disgusting. I wouldn’t eat there. They should just not have it and put $ into the rooms. I talked to the front desk and they said they want to accommodate people who are looking for affordable price and that’s what I booked. Not very helpful. It’s Sunday and they could have easily moved me.

The location is perfect. You cannot beat the short walk to the marina if you are fishing. All of the staff were very nice. The rooms are outdated though and ours was not very clean. We stayed in the fisherman's village last year, it was as expected. This year we tried the normal rooms. Spider webs on 3 of the 4 walls. The floor was wet from humidity. Black hair all over the bathroom. It is time for a full on remodel. Even if you can't do that, it's time for a deep clean. The tiki bar is awesome. Food is great and employees are awesome.

The location is beautiful and the staff was nice.|but the hotel is dingy and dated with rotten boards and mildew growing on the outside by the back entrance. Plants and grounds not cared for. Real and Silk flowers look bad and should be trashed…. A bare planter would look better.|Our room was ok for cleanliness but in need of repair to the bath and wall air conditioner…|Would not stay there again.

This place is a gem. It is "old school" and dated, but that is part of what makes it great. Stayed for 3 nights for a fishing trip, plenty of on-site boat parking and can use the launch immediately across the street which is great making it the closest location to getting out on the lake side . Tiki bar was so much fun, good food and great service all around. Wouldn't think about staying anywhere else.

The rooms are old and musty. The bathroom was gross. In the room, the window treatments were shear and we felt that everyone in the parking lot could see into our room. The swimming pool was closed for construction even though we were charged for a Resort Fee. We paid over $400 for the room and resort fee which is way too expensive for what you get. Save your money and find a different place to stay.

This place is a very nice location with water views from the front, a nice casual tiki bar with water views. The rooms are clean, and very homey. The place is nautical/ rustic theme. The bad reviews seem more like people expecting 5 star accommodations in Door County. This is a rural/ non chain vacation place. After staying at other Door county places this place is what is expected. It’s close to downtown Sturgeon Bay. Very pleasant stay. Would stay again for sure.

Pricey but it is a holiday weekend. Service was suffice. Free breakfast included with free appetizer slip. I did get the suite and the Jacuzzi was excellent size as I'm taller. Fit both my kiddos and I great! Double view fireplace was nifty. Private room was a bonus and fit both kids and I just fine. Acclimated nicely!

Not worth the $200+ a night price point. The facility itself is old. Broken lights, broken TV and broken AC. Only decaf coffee in the rooms. The bathroom was small and old. No hair dryer but a random spot for it. Only one light in the bathroom and it flickers for at least 30 seconds every time you have to turn it on. The TV had issues, when we came into our room for the first time it was on and at 0 volume. I know understand why, it turns back on by itself. We turned it off at least 3 times in the middle of the night and it would turn itself back on. Finally just brought the volume to 0 and shut the cabinet door to it. The air conditioning unit was on high cool the whole time we were there, the fan didn’t even push enough air out to do anything. Our room was on the 2nd floor and had a balcony area that had a weird half wall so could walk onto anyone else’s balcony on the 2nd floor. Yes the staff was nothing but nice, but you have minimal interaction with them. You are paying for a good room and this is NOT it! Regret spending so much on a bad hotel, don’t make the same mistakes

Positive: Hotel employee was so helpful & she went above & beyond to help us out with a fish boil reservation. We also reviewed the hotel's menu at the front desk, and we enjoyed a great meal! :) Loved the broasted chicken & Ahi Tuna melt. Delicious! We went on Wednesday to Bingo, and it was our first time. The bartenders were very professional and patient. The bingo caller was fun. Breaks seemed long though. We won 2 times. We sat in a horrible place to see numbers being called, so on the last card, we would have won the $240 but took us too long to double check board, our fault, so we still won but had to share with 4. We know better now. It seemed like a good place for people to bring families . We had several kiddos who were 4 and under. They were totally adorable and running around. So if you have a family looking for something to do on Wednesday nights It is a great place to go. It is also just a great place for elderly. If you're very serious about bingo , please know this is for fun and friendly entertainment. It's free so each player, including kis and teenagers, gets one card only for the first 10 please bring money if you want to play the 50/50 game.I took my 17 daughter (who was bummed she couldn't win cash but had a great time) and a family friend who needed to get out of home. You can buy food and drinks. Anytime I can get my daughter almost phone free, I'll take it. I am looking forward to doing it again.

My wife and I had our wedding reception at the Lodge, and we had the most incredible day of our lives. Milan, Ana and the rest of the staff went above and beyond consistently and had the highest degree of professionalism. The staff truly cared for us, and took care of every single detail to make our day completely stress free! (They even helped replace our wedding cake within mere hours when it was accidentally ruined!) you won’t find any other venue who cares as deeply for you and your big day then the staff at the Lodge. When reflecting on our beautiful day, a common theme was how perfect the venue was, not just for the beautiful location and amenities but because of the fantastic staff. I encourage everyone I know to choose Leathem as a wedding venue

It is Very dated and needs updates. The immediate smell when walking into the resort reminded me of a nursing home. Maybe it allows pets ? Not sure but it smelled like urine. The room in Harborside smelled very musty and triggered allergies and asthma. Dirty carpeting in hallway and room. The bathtub/shower dripped constantly leaving scaly crud and slime. Not clean enough to use. The grab bar in the tub was completely broken off. Ample supplies of soap, shampoo, and conditioner. The beds and pillows were comfortable. Sheets and towels clean. No clock of any kind in the room. TV worked. Coffee maker, microwave and frig in room. The sign in the hallway directed us to soda and ice. There was no soda machine at all. No need to stay here again.

We had a wedding Anniversary party for 100 people this last weekend. The food and lodging were great. Milan, Ana and staff were so accommodating and went the distance for us. Milan checked in with me a few times during the course of the event to make sure all was going well. Wonderful place to hold an event. Milan was exceptional in working with my 82 year old mother in law and myself for making sure the event would be just how we envisioned it to be, providing his expertise to assist us.

Recently stayed here for a little girls trip my college friend and I took. We enjoyed our stay here and were very happy with the staff and the breakfast as well. By the end of our stay the young gentleman working at the omelette station remembered my order which was a fun little bonus! Although the inside of the hotel is a little outdated we made the most out of our stay. One recommendation would be better parking by door entrance B and 18th avenue leading up to the hotel was bad for driving. Overall we would stay here again for our next girls trip.

Amazing stay! Son loved the jacuzzi in our room we got. The room was very home like and we loved it. The bed was comfortable. Plenty of room for our family. The pool was warm enough for us, warmer than some places where the pool was inside. We enjoyed our stay. The chicken dinner and cheese curds were delicious. Check in was 4 but we arrived at 1:30 and got a call at 2 saying our room was ready. -That’s amazing! The only reason why I rated the room a 4 was because the floor was a bit sticky, I feel it needed to be mopped for sure. I just kept my sandals on while walking around. Also the shower head could use some updating, the water sprays not in a stream but it’s better than roughing it and not showering so it is doable. Will stay again!! Recommend this place!!

Thought this would be a fun place to stay, however, that was unfortunately not the case. We came in on a Friday and received a coupon for their restaurant, so we decided to go there for dinner. We waited 45 minutes, and not one server came near us or even looked in our direction, so we left. On Saturday, the tiki bar was open with live music, so we went to sit on the patio away from the bar so we could enjoy the music and atmosphere. We got the ok to sit at a table and about an hour later, they came and told us we had to move as another party had a reservation from 6-7... it was 7:15 when they told us to move. Why give us the ok to sit there when clearly it was not ok, and was it even really for a reservation? We moved to a different area of the patio that was unoccupied, and about 30 minutes later, we got told we had to leave as we had brought our own bottle of wine. I understand liquor laws, however, we were not sitting anywhere close to the bar. Not to mention, there were multiple tables near the bar with their own liquor being allowed to sit there (they had 6-packs of beer). We were really looking forward to enjoying our Saturday night in a fun atmosphere, however, we ended up spending it in our rooms as there is no where else to go on the property to enjoy the live music, unless you want to pay for drinks, etc. The room we stayed in was also not very clean. When we walked in, it smelled like urine, and the bathtub was not clean, plus the room was very dated. So very sad and unfortunately we will not be staying here again.

This property is a historic gem in the area. The staff was top notch professional and very accommodating while this may have been the absolute cleanest overnight lodging I have ever had. The room we had was clearly updated and it appears they worked hard to maintain the original charm of the property.||The first area of concern for us was the bathroom. Again, cleanliness was not an issue at all, however the tub was very old, stained porcelain and the non-slip strips were nothing more than strips of color with all the non slip properties completely gone. This left the tub a challenge for us to use with our orthopedic issues, okay, it felt unsafe. The toilet was crammed between the tub and vanity and the toilet paper was mounted in the side of the vanity making it a challenge to get to.||The other are of concern is we were directed park around the back of the property to be closer to our room. The parking area is all chewed up, not clearly marked making it hard to tell if it is the actual place to park and no parking lines. The other issue is there was one handicapped parking place leaving us a distance to maneuver on the uneven and chopped parking surface as we made our way to the door. ||We would stay again if there were AODA style bathrooms on the first floor, which we did not specifically request, merely requesting the first floor because of our orthopedic issues and the fact that there is not an elevator.

This resort has so much potential, however badly needs updating. Our room looked straight out of the 90's. The only USB port is on the back of the TV. The door knobs were corroded. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling and shower curtain. There was a used towel and old wrappers left in our room when we arrived. The walls were so paper thin, I could hear every word from the room next to us.
I love the location, and the staff was friendly. We returned because the resort is dog friendly, but we might look for different options next time.

The Front Desk is the most important job in a resort. It’s the first interaction customers have in person, and sadly ours was not a good one. We were there for a wedding for less than 40 people in total. We had called asking if it would be okay to check in a little before their official check in time of 4:00 (3:15-3:20). When we arrived, I said hi, stated my name, to which the front desk person says “Check in is at 4:00” I wish I had her name but nobody wears a name tag. We explained that the rehearsal dinner is at 5:00 and she tried calling Housekeeping on the radio but they weren’t answering to confirm if the room was ready. In the end the only let 2 out of 3 of us check in early. It had nothing to do with Housekeeping. Just a power trip from the front desk person. Shame on them.

This place says their priority is safety and cleanliness and that couldn’t be more far from the truth. Our room was filthy, the surrounding hallways were filthy and management didn’t seem to care when we brought it to their attention. On the second night we were moved to a room down the hall which was only slightly cleaner than the first. They don’t take care of their rooms and whoever is cleaning them isn’t doing a good job.

The dining room sucked having to eat with a bar full of drunken slobs. If your not one of the local cronies don't expect any service at the bar. Perch was overpriced and bland. Good burgers.

If I am welcomed and treated pleasantly, I will sleep on a cot under an awning without complaining. However, be rude, disrespectful and act like you’re doing me a favor by letting me stay in one of your rooms, we’ve now got a problem. The location is great, and the outdoor aesthetics are nice but everything goes down hill very fast after that. Rooms were a dump and at least 20 years old dated.

We got the big suite at the last minute, which was very nice. Furniture and accoutrements were old but clean and functional. Outdoor bar looked very popular, but we didn't get a chance to stop by for a drink. Breakfast was best in any hotel for awhile, with omelets made to order and tasty scones..

Went to this place for dinner last night. What a disappointment. I had 2 piece broasted chicken. The chicken looked & tasted like it had been cooked days before then warmed up to be served….the wing was so small & shriveled up it literally had nothing to it. The potatoes were barely warm, the dinner roll was dried out so bad you could not eat it & the coleslaw tasted like it was on the verge of spoiling. My friend got the 6 oz steak & it looked like one of the medallions you buy at quick trip……cooked to order but no flavor for a whopping 28 bucks. Will never go back for a meal. The bar itself was nice & okay service!

*Wedding Review*
My husband and I recently got married in September and held our reception here. When we did our tour it exceeded our expectations, along with the taste testing of the food. Paul is a great guy and very polite. However, we struggled a lot trying to get ahold of him. We had a lot of our guest struggle trying to book a hotel room. They were told there wasn't any available, but then their spouse would call shortly after and there was rooms available. They also ended up giving away our room for Saturday night. In this case it worked out great for us because we got to stay in the house that they rent out. Milan did a fantastic job while we were setting up and all night Saturday always checking in on us and seeing if we need anything. When it came time to eat, the food that was served to us wasn't what we sampled during our taste test. The mac n cheese was supposed to be a four beer cheese mac n cheese and it tasted more like an over cooked Kraft mac n cheese. As for the broasted chicken, we got terrible remarks regarding that... we were told that the chicken was dry and had a terrible plastic smell with an off taste. Our immediate family all didn't even get a piece of chicken, they asked the servers 3 times to get refills on food. Instead, they were ignored and they tried clearing their plates. We obviously would have said something to Milan regarding the food on Sunday morning, however no one told us until days after the wedding. We were hoping it was just our food that tasted off. We are extremely embarrassed for the food that was served to the guests at our wedding. The bartender also tried cutting off my husband from drinking because she thought he was going to be going on the dance floor. There were a few drinks spilt on the dance floor, however the floor was already sticky when we got there! Days after our wedding I sent an email just letting them know what we have been hearing and how we were dissatisfied, we didn't think the food served was worth $22 a plate. We didn't get any email back, not even an apology. It's not like my husband and I to write bad reviews like this, however the amount of money that we spent there and the amount of embarrassment that we feel we thought it is necessary.
We have heard mixed reviews about weddings here and we thought since our taste test went good that we were in the clear... It's 2022, having a wedding reception shouldn't be a hit or miss if the food will be good or not. We will not recommend this place to anyone.

Awful rooms. They smelt terrible, it was hot inside the room making it smell even worse. The bed felt like you were sleeping on a box spring. There was a chest freezer in the “lobby” of the harbor side that was full of smelly moldy water that was next to the ice machine. I would NOT recommend staying here at any point.

This is not a typical review, look at my reviews, usually very good. If going to door county choose an Verbo or spend the extra money to upgrade to a resort. We stayed here and it is very outdated, beds were very uncomfortable, stains all over. Tried to get money back but no success. The pictures do not portray what you pay for and the price is not on par with quality even for door county.

As of the day I arrived the pool was closed, when there were only two rainy days between weeks and weeks of gorgeous weather, besides, who is to determine that certain weather conditions don't allow for swimming anymore? I am from Europe and I think our view on that is different, so I feel that I paid for something I didn't get. Plus, we we just told very matter of factly (sort of like:deal with it!), not very friendly or concerned with our disappointment. The rest of the hotel appeared mediocre for the price. Sorry, not very happy 😕

We needed a pet friendly hotel for this trip. Only option was their Harbor side rooms. This place charges $25 per night per dog. We have 2 small well trained dogs that are better behaved than some kids.
Queen Bed Mattresses might as well have been Cement poured in the 1960's
No carpet for a dog to damage as it was 29 cent per Square Foot Laminate.
Patio Door Curtain were missing both finials, so the first attempt at closing resulted in the pole coming out of the bracket.
The Patio was surrounded by an Arbovite and Yew that were both ridiculously overgrown and the branches were perfect for knocking your glasses off while trying to maneuver your dogs through a 12" gap
The 24" Flat Screen TV must have been a huge upgrade from a 1970's 13" Quasar
Over $200 a night to stay in what I would kindly refer to as a " Motel Minus 6"
Hopefully their Main Lodge rooms are 100x better than the Dog Gouge rooms

I went to a wedding last night at the Lodge and the food was so bad we couldn't eat it. The chicken tasted like it was fried in last night's fish oil. It had a metallic taste. The gravy was like a bowl of sweet milk. I was embarrassed for the Bride and Groom. We had to leave early just find somewhere to eat.

The room was a typical room at $169 a night. The Door A they directed us to was rusty and had spider webs. Not a lot of pride in ownership here. We were told our room had one of the better views. It overlooked grass, trees, and the highway beyond. Willie at the Tiki bar was the best part of our stay. He's a talented bartender and a great guy!!! The food at the restaurant is good, and reasonable, but understaffed. The air conditioner was old, and noisy. A window type 1970's looking unit! The staff are all friendly, and working their butts off. Tip them well, I did!

Our room in the fishing village was dreadful. The resort desperately needs updating. The bed and bedding was poor quality. We had a family reunion dinner at the restaurant. The food and service was average at best, especially for the price. The manager was very unhelpful to try to resolve our problems.

Decent hotel for a more affordable Door County stay, pet friendly and friendly service. Rooms are okay but outdated, the air conditioning in our room was very old and did not work properly and the bathroom had mold on the ceiling which is why I am only giving four stars. Breakfast is your standard hotel breakfast buffet with plenty of options and variety.

The location is beautiful, right near the water! The people at the front desk were friendly and helpful. Overall, it felt like the condition and cleanliness of the hotel could have use a lot more. We were pleasantly surprised with the quaintness of the lodge. The landscaping was beautiful and snuggled up to the bay! The lodge had everything a person could want, variuos areas to sit & talk, watch sunsets/rise, great breakfast, restaurant & tiki bar! Our room was immaculate, ample space with a walk out patio with very comfortable beds, pillows & linen/towels. NO odors or musty smells. All the amenities for coffee, microwave/fridge. The employees were so upbeat, positive and went above & beyond to make sure our room & stay was
an incredible experience! Thank you for everything. This was my 1st time to Door County! We are all ready planning our next trip! A special thank you to a front desk person & the head of housekeeping for going above & beyond.

Comfy beds, clean baths, Mr Omelette man with made to order omelets. Did not care for warm food on plastic plates, with plastic forks. Pool appears not to have been in use for a long time, yet they advertise having a pool. We chose this lodge because of pool, very disappointed that it was misrepresented and no discount given when we told them that was why we chose this place.

Room was acceptable. Carpet had a lot of stains, the blinds on the patio door were missing a piece so there was no way to keep the parking lot from seeing in our room. The water pressure was great but it looked like they didn't clean the grout in the shower for years. They told us there would be a breakfast buffet but at 6am the lobby was locked and dark. And there's a coffee station set up in one of the halls welcoming fishermen and recommending a cup of coffee. There are cups but at 6am there's no coffee. Most serious fishermen go out fishing before sunrise if you didn't know. Your hotel set an expectation then didn't meet it, this is failure.

This was a very pleasant stay. We got the Queen Bed with Spa Bath room. The size of the room really surprised us, as it was much larger that we had expected. It was very spacious, for the price we paid. The appliances and room itself was pretty old, but we didn't spend much time in the room. Bed was comfortable, and they did offer a complimentary breakfast. Staff was very kind, and attentive. They have a really neat Tiki bar outside, and a outdoor pool for summer time. They also have a restaurant inside the building, but we unfortunately did not get to try it out. It was a good stay all around.

Between 1 & 2 stars.
Restaurant/bar during the off season was poor. Was a 60+ plate party with a 3 day notice. Not sure why the funeral home would suggest this place. (Note: i was just part of the party, not the family throwing the party). 😊Salad was very good & they used leafy greens & not just iceberg lettuce. Enough desserts for everyone (brownies & rice crispy treats) which i count as a positive because they seemed to struggle with everything else.
😞1) Unfortunately, the other food was average ingredients (ie: common hamburger buns instead of bakery buns) &
2) over done/dry, expect better for the price.
3) Broccoli soup was hard to eat because broccoli pieces were HUGE & the cream base was separating (like the cheese was congealing or something & became chunky).
4) Kids food was forgotten. After we reminded them, it was finally brought out after many of the children left. Adults ended up eating it because it was better than the adult food.
5) Forgot to put out water. When asked bartender for pitchers of water, he put out 2 pitchers for 50+ people. Towards the END, the chef brought out 5+ more pitchers of water.
6) They ran out of some sodas. Bartender didn't seem to know what was available so I'm guessing he wasn't just filling in ?!?
7) Bartender was very upset he had to attend to so many people. We tried keeping it easy on him & order simple drinks (soda & bottled beer) and tried to keep it positive for him (which is difficult after a funeral) but all he did was grumble under his breath & complain to the customers.

I was looking for a pet and kid friendly place to stay. My search for places were slim due to my lack of knowledge of the area. I found this place that allows pets so I took it not knowing there were “better” options. So as far as the hotel, it is outdated, but still decent. Our room did not have a phone, and the book for hours of continental breakfast is wrong, had no menu but said to order room service which woulda been kinda hard without a phone 🤣 Guests were partying in the lounge right next to our room til about midnight extremely loud, then 5:30 in the morning came and I was woke right up by a neighbor banging music. The room was nice enough and clean. Nice dog area outside. The price was wayyy too much after comparing other places I found after the fact unfortunately. I could have got 2 nights elsewhere for the same price! The restaurant had very good food. I most likely wouldn’t stay here again.
