The experience and vibe at this restaurant is great! It is family owned. Great food and reasonably priced. They currently have a great set up for Friday night karoake. First come first serve. You get a stage and not many people know about it yet.

We are from Rhode Island here on a trip and looking for hmong food. We came early and was the only customer. Server was nice and efficient. Here is what we ordered:

Eggroll: its good basic eggroll. Better than other plain hmong eggroll i have tried. Moderate flavor and crispy. 7/10

Kapoon: missing the cilantro and green onions. noodles were all broken into smaller pieces. Perhaps noodles were boiled too long. Flavor is okay, not bad but not good. Need more meat and please remove all non edible pieces like the ghalangal. Not pleasant to keep biting into pieces of non edible ghalangal. 3/10

Papaya salad: very good. Flavor is good. I personally like thick cut papaya and this is good. Only thing i would say is to put a notch less tamarind. Its alittle overpowering through the flavor. 8/10

Chicken feet larb: perfect. No changes. 10/10

Chicken wing: its good. Just basic chicken wings. Wish they have an option for larb style chicken wings. 7/10

Pork belly: skin is rubbery, not crunchy. not seasoned. Really relying on the pepper sauce for salt. Need to salt before frying. over cooked as well as meat is dry 2/10

Thai tea: pretty good. No complaints 8/10

Overall score 5/10... not bad but also not good. nothing that makes me go wow. Would return if really craving hmong food but not expecting much more

I believe they are under new owners and have been pretty good. Love the raw laab and chicken wings. We orders papaya salad & padthai also. Everything was good and made fresh. Did feel a bit empty and bit dark in there (2pm), we weren’t sure if they were open but the owner came to warmly greet us. Will definitely return.

Worst restaurant I ever been to, pho was super hard still not cook, fried rice taste so bland, service so slow, I want to support my hmoob people but when it so bad make me waste my money, not going there again, I even have around 10 different people say there food was garbage, waste of time eating here

I stop by 2-3 Times here over the past Year. Everytime I stop by, the place was closed.. even thought it saids it's open. I guess they can't keep a normal opening hours.
Looks like they are closing their restaurant and going full banquet. I guess I'll never get to try this place lol

We were here for a family gathering with no air conditioning for five whole hours. I was sweating so much, my glasses just gave up and slid off my nose like they were trying to escape! The food was not so bad.

We came for dinner & a dance (they have a banquet area along side of the main restaraunt). I got a chicken curry dish. Was SOOO good, I can't wait to go back for more! Was a large portion, so I asked for a "to go" box. Owner saw me putting mostly rice and some curry sauce on top. Came back with additional container of curry so it would be balanced! I had another 2 meals from that. It's obvious that they aim to please and want satisfied customers. Would recommend for food, dance or venue for large gathering. Seems to be a family business. Very friendly.

Hmong sausage with sticky rice is really good and only one of two places, I know of, in Madison to get it. The spicy dipping sauce is a must but extremely spicy to beware. Pad Thai is a little tamarind heavy for my taste but my husband likes it. Chicken wings, crab rangoons, and egg rolls are decent. We usually take it to go and food is still very hot. They have a full bar and have had a drink while waiting for food. Staff is very friendly when ordering over the phone and ordering at the bar. They’ve recently changed their hours and are open less. I hope more people give them a chance and they are able to make it in McFarland. This area could use some variety of cuisine.

By FAR, the worst dining experience in my life. Ordered the egg rolls, they showed up at room temperature, almost cold and the restaurant only had 1 other customer? Then my beef Laab showed up even colder?? I left after 1 bite because it was cold & disgusting- gave them a 15% tip and went to Arby's which wasn't great but it was warmer. I doubt this was cooked fresh, tasted like cheap buffet that hadn't warmed up yet. The picture is what I left behind after tabbing out & walking. The diet coke was good 👍

Food was great. Music was pretty loud so the whole time my spouse and I felt like we were screaming at each other while talking. It was our first time visiting, but maybe have an adult sit and take orders next time instead of having a kid do it.

Really good authentic southeast asian food. Everything we've tried has been great so far.
Staff are friendly but service just needs a little polishing. For example, food comes out at different times, missing silverware, condiments etc.

Service was good, but the food was subpar. My pho and kapoon broth was lukewarm and bland. Although we were disappointed, I plan to return to give it another try at some point. I want to support family owned restaurants, but the quality of food needs to improve for the price. More flavor please!

Just found my new favorite Vietnamese/Asian restaurant! I've been to well over 50 throughout the states. Tiffany, my waitress was just amazing! If I could give 6 stars, I would and I've never said this before.

Had dinner here a couple of weeks ago.

Got the Khao Poon, pho, chicken fried rice and pad thai (not pictured)

The Khao Poon was good, however the portion was way too small for its price. If they add more, I will reconsider it.

The pho was ok and slightly better than some other options in madison. However, it's not the best pho we ever had. Would prefer eating pho elsewhere.

Chicken fried rice and pad thai were not good. Definitely would avoid ordering these again.

The service could be better and the place wasn't even busy at all! We received no greetings or farewells when entering. Also, we were served by a young kid, I would say probably 8-10 yrs old. I give the kid some props for trying. We definitely had to wave him down several times for refills, orders, and the check.

My party really enjoyed this new restaurant and glad to add it to our rotation 🙂

Very friendly and welcoming staff and service.

The food was flavorful and presented beautifully. We tried many different dishes such as yellow curry, pad Thai, fried rice, laab, pho, egg rolls, fried chicken feet and spring rolls. Everyone liked their dishes.

Amazing!! Tried this place tonight for the first time. We were greeted promptly waking in the door and offered a table, though we ended up at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and welcoming, and offered several recommendations.

I ended up ordering the egg rolls and Pad-Thai - Both amazing!! The flavor on the pad-Thai was delicious, and the they even accommodated my love of spicy by adding a side of pepper sauce.

My wife had the yellow curry and cleaned the bowl.

Everything was clean, delicious and not super heavy the way a lot of lower end Asian foods are.

We ate until it hurt, and will absolutely be back, a lot!

Recently moved back into the area & have been excited to try the food here. Service is extremely friendly (but not over the top), food is DELICIOUS and you leave feeling like you ate good, clean food. Family friendly environment & not sticky surfaces. Overall thrilled with the addition to McFarland & we will be returning very soon.

New restaurant recently opened services still marginally up and down they try. They just haven't quite worked it all out yet. The food was really good. There was no waiting, no crowd. Plenty of parking. Had the beef pho had the pork laab both were excellent. Would recommend the sticky rice with just about anything. The other people with us had the pad Thai and the vegetable fried rice. Both of them were very happy with their selections. They also have a good selection of beer and alcohol

We had excellent food and service at The Mekong! HUGE and delicious Spring rolls were so fresh. Curry is on point and perfectly spicy without being too much. Well rounded flavor and authentic zest. Khao Pong and Pad Thai were both excellent for dinner and again as leftovers ;).

With time, the decor may be updated to feature more Asian themed decor, but I judge a restaurant on food quality and that is top tier.

Recommend and will be back!

I visited for the first time tonight with some work friend and we sat at the bar.

I had a Beerlao brand beer and the sausage and sticky rice. The sausage was really flavorful and spicy and the sticky rice was a great pairing.

Everything was great! Good location, good parking, large space, good drinks, great food!

I will definitely be returning!

Mekhong is a locally owned business and recently opened in McFarland. The owner Neng and his wife are very personable and welcoming. The atmosphere is relaxed and has a center bar with plenty of lobby space. The food is amazing, I opted in for laab beef, papaya salad, chicken wings, chicken feet and Ko Phong! Everything was delicious! If you enjoy Hmong/Lao/Thai food then please go support this restaurant!

Heads up they’re only open in the evening for now.

Go and enjoy! 🙏🏽 👌🏽

5/5 dining experience! Service was fast and food came out very quickly. Nothing was tired or average, every dish was delicious and novel. I’m so glad the owners chose McFarland so we can be close to a go-to asian restaurant with unique dishes like papaya salad and purple sticky rice. I recommend the Khao Pong noodles especially!

The Mekong is such a find and I’m so glad they’re here! We over ordered many items to try, and every single one was great. We especially liked the kah pong noodle soup and the chicken wings. The service was incredibly fast and attentive. They’re just getting started and they’re already spectacular!

My family and I were excited to try this new Pan-Asian restaurant in our community and support a local business. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. Upon arrival, we were greeted promptly by the host and offered our choice of tables, as the restaurant was nearly empty (only a few occupied tables and plenty of open seating). Menus and water arrived quickly, but then things took a turn.

We decided on our order quickly but were left waiting, unnoticed, for over 20 minutes. During that time, we watched two staff members at the bar adjust the TVs and saw another server sporadically delivering one dish at a time to a single table. A couple seated behind us received attention right away, but even they hadn’t been served drinks by the time we left.

It was disheartening to feel invisible, especially when the restaurant wasn’t busy. When we finally decided to leave, we put on our jackets and walked out—only then did the host glance our way, but no effort was made to acknowledge us.

We love Pan-Asian food and genuinely hope this restaurant can improve its service. We understand it’s new, but this level of disorganization and inattentiveness won’t win returning customers.

Walked in and ordered qhaub poob. Took at most 10 minutes and was great. Menu is still a bit limited. Be patient--got the wrong order at first but quickly fixed--it's new and they are working out the kinks.

Pad Thai was very tasty. Food came out a bit slow, which I imagine they will improve, but the server was very attentive and aware.

One thing to note. The online menu shows tofu options that they did not have. Not sure if there were any vegetarian options in the restaurant. Shrimp was okay for me, but if you're veg you might want to call ahead and ask

It's a friendly place.
Service was a little slow, and sort of scattered. I know they are new and hopefully they develop a tighter routine.

The main dining room had a filled up and the couple servers were hopping.

The food was tasty, could use a bit more spice, but I think that of everything.
