This is a great local café that's been there forever that serves good comfort food and at a good price! The staff are friendly and the service is good and personal. This is a place with "regulars" and nice counter seating as well. We come up to the Museum Bird Show annually and stop here. Never disappointed. City park right across the street as well.

The Mint Cafe catered my wedding at the Rock Ridge Orchard this summer and they did an amazing job. The service and food was amazing and countless guests complimented the food. I am vegetarian and they were able to accommodate which was great. My husband and I would recommend the Mint Cafe to anyone looking for catering. Also, we have eaten lunch here many times and the food and services is always 10/10.

The hot beef dinner is my absolute favorite dish. Especially when ordering an extra cloverleaf roll. Those rolls are soooooo good. The hot beef sandwich is also a good variation. Haven't had a bad dish yet and I've trie a lot of them since I work less than a block away.
Locals know that seating is limited, especially during rush periods, but during warm months you can sit outside.

This place is great! Stopped by on a Friday night and arrived at just the right time - we got a table outside, but as we were eating, the inside and outside filled up like crazy. It's super cute inside, and if it wasn't so nice out, we would have eaten in there! Fantastic old fashioneds, both brandy sweet and whiskey sour. Generous portions, good food and great prices. Very affordable. If I lived in the area, I'd be there every day!

This is a throwback back to an old-fashioned cafe that feels very modern.

I got the avacado toast on gluten-free bread. It had tomatoes, onions, and sprouts. Also included 2 eggs. So good. I got a side of hashbrowns... way too much food. I could not finish it all.

Had a meal on a Friday night before a show at the Grand Theatre. The Mint Café was very busy from the counter to the tables in back. I can’t say enough about my experience due to the quick and efficient service and delicious food… Everything from the amazing soup to our main entrées. But the best impression that night was the amazing staff!! There is only room for single file traffic, but the wait staff was patient as folks stepped in their way momentarily, and they had smiles on their faces the entire time!!! I look forward to my next visit !!

First time trying The Mint! Let me tell you, the food was amazing. I ordered the "Hot Beef Sandwich". Really a long time favorite of mine going back to my childhood.
I said to my wife (she is a live long Wausau native) we really need to come back... The staff was so welcoming and kind. I see why they've been around since 1888.

Used to like eating there but found that they have very poor employment practices. My son a student thew his back out during work and called in sick the next night. No word from them they just didn’t schedule him anymore and won’t return phone calls or texts. My family won’t eat there again.

So I came in because I'm always looking for a good place to eat. Quite often it’s less than stellar. Not here. Not only do I recommend here but I will probably make the 2 1/2 hour drive here to eat something else. The menu had some great choices but I got the chicken pesto sandwich. It was so tender and tasty. Many other places overcook the chicken so it is dry. Again, not here. I also had the salted Carmel cheesecake and yep, it was great. Can’t wait to come back and try some of the other things on the menu. If you are in Wausau, you gotta stop by. You won’t be disappointed!

I absolutely love an old-fashioned diner. This place is perfect. They had 50's - 60's music playing, a small town local feel atmosphere, great friendly service, and the food was awesome too. (Real maple syrup! Yes!)
The only way I could think to make it one step better would be to have sockhop uniforms, but good luck getting the wait staff on board for that. 😉
This little cafe has become a favorite. I can't wait to come back next time I'm in Wisconsin.
