So . . .made a reservation for a fish boil on a holiday weekend, and got cut off mid-phone call. On a holiday weekend, when they were very busy, the staff made for me TWO reservations (one at an indoor table and one outdoors) and called me the morning of to let me decide which one to keep. The show was great as the Boilmaster did his thing. There's so much to do in Door County that if we return, we aren't planning to repeat things . . . except this Fish Boil. We'll definitely do it again.

One of my favorite restaurants in the whole peninsula. They provide a great history lesson when cooking about 30 minutes before dinner. They have great seating inside and outside. The workers are all very friendly and provide attentive service. We went there for breakfast and dinner in one day because we enjoyed it so much!

10/10 experience! The fish boil was amazing. The narration of what was going on along with the delicious meal was worth it. The homemade breads and coleslaw that came along with the fish was a highlight. Can't forget about the slice of cherry pie to finish off the meal! A great time overall and would definitely recommend!

The fish boil was incredible. Fresh caught Lake Michigan white fish perfectly cooked in an outdoor boil. The boil master put on a great show. The service was as good as the food and the weather cooperated for a beautiful night's meal.

We had a wonderful experience at the traditional fish boil! It was both fun and informative to watch the boil take place before being seated at our assigned table. The servers were efficient and even de-boned the fish right in front of us, which was a nice touch. I also appreciated that there were a couple of alternative options available for those who don’t eat fish.

The meal itself was delicious—especially with the vessel of melted butter to pour over the fish, potatoes, and onion. The cherry pie at the end was the perfect sweet finish. The setting made the evening even more special, as we enjoyed a beautiful sunset view over the lake from our table.

Another highlight was that our dog was welcome, which made the outing even better. Overall, a great experience combining tradition, great food, and a scenic atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Great experience prior to eating the fish. Highly recommend for people of all ages. Fish was very fresh, didn’t have the typical fishy taste found at restaurants. They pick out the bones for you, and it leaves you with tiny bones which wasn’t an issue to pick out.

Great sides of coleslaw, red potatoes, breads, and you can top it off with melted butter and lemon. Recommend ordering chicken tenders al a carte as it is less expensive than the regular tenders and still provides about 5-6 tenders.

A must-do dining experience!

My visit to The Old Post Office Restaurant - Fish boil was absolutely fantastic. The entire experience felt so unique—it was much more than just a meal. Watching the fish boil while hearing the history behind it was both entertaining and informative.

And the food itself was incredible. The fish was as fresh and delicious as it gets, don't forget to add the table spice and butter. I'm still dreaming about the cherry pie. It was the perfect ending to a memorable meal.

I can't wait to go back and do it all over again. If you're looking for a great meal and a fun experience, this is the place!

This is one of my favorite places for breakfast when we come to Door County. It's such a cute restaurant with a beautiful view. I feel like I'm in Door County when I'm here. The walls have cherry wallpaper, the placemats have cherries on them, and each table has cherry blossoms in a vase. The hostess gets everyone seated as soon as she can, and the service is superb. The cherry pancakes are outstanding! The bacon is crisp, but not too crisp, and the melon was big and sweet.

Jeremy “Torch” is passionate and entertaining in performing the fish boil!! We learned about the fascinating history of this tradition.

Fish allergy approved!! One in our party has a very sensitive fish allergy and we can testify that their ribs dinner is safe and delicious to eat, no cross contamination with fish!!

The fish boil and fish meal is mind
blowingly good!!! They take out bones too. So simple and yet so tasty!! The freshness of the fish (caught just the day prior) and the heat from the boil make the fish juicy and flavorful.

The view is beautiful too.

You have heard of the rest , THIS IS THE BEST FISH BOIL IN DOOR COUNTY, the OLD POST OFFICE !!!! A half hour outside before your reservation, It starts out with the Boilmaster "Torch", giving you the history of Door County and its first settlers in the 1800's , then Torch goes on to tell you how the Fish Boils first got started . He then proceeds to tell you how they get the Whitefish and how he prepares them for the boil.
He then shows you the fish fillets, and explains step by step how its done. The finally is when Torch tells you to get your phone cameras ready, and throws kerosene on the fire at the bottom of the Kettle . Flames and smoke shoot about 15+ feet in the air for a Kodak moment ! After this great show, Torch tells everyone to go enjoy their delicious fish dinner . YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS HIS PRE-DINNER PRESENTATION !!!!
Everyone now seats down at their reserved table , either outside, weather permitting, or inside . Tammy and her great wait crew ,now go around and take drink orders at each table. Shortly there after the food comes out hot and yummy looking !
Generous portions of Whitefish, roasted red potatoes, sweet onions, homemade coleslaw , and assortment of homemade bread. Your server will ask you if you would like your fish deboned
of any small bones that may have got by Torch when he prepared them ? Now you pour the hot melted butter onto your fish and potatoes ! YUMMY , time to dig in and enjoy. Your next big decision is to decide if you want your Door Co. cherry pie topped with a scoop of ice cream ? You've now have realized that you stomach has gone to" DOOR COUNTY HEAVEN " I only wish i could give Tammy and her great crew more than 5 STARS !!!

Very unprofessional. At first everything was going okay. There was a lot of people and not enough seatings to watch the fish boil. $28 is on the high end compared to other places. We been to other places and they were reasonably priced for a much better experiences. The fish was soggy which might have been the white fish. At other places it was not soggy. The cherry pie was not off putting with the crust they used. It was like somethinf graham cracker sort of crust rather then the old fashioed flour crust that most other places uses which is far by better. We were also given the wrong seats too when we arrived.

For $28 per person it was not worth it. They even charges $3 to put ice cream with the pie. They charge $3.50 for a can of pop. They automatically take out 18% tip which we did not agree to. There were no signage to show that is what they do which is required in order to do that. The manager was unreasonable and insisted that we give her a percent of what we would have tipped which is not up to her. The servant said that she is not forcing a tip but she quickly took our card from the table without asking. They gave us such a problem that it was not okay. We had to really stand our ground with the amount of trouble they were giving us.

I would go elsewhere where the experience is far better and the fish is firm.

We have been to Door County twice now. The fish boil at the Old Post Office was on our 'must repeat' list. We (2 adults and a teen) enjoyed the pre-meal excitement of watching the food being cooked outside in the kettle over the fire. The fireball is always exciting!
The food includes 2 significant fish steaks, potatoes, onions, cole slaw, and 3 kinds of fresh bread... with lots of melted butter. There is homemade cherry pie for dessert. (A la mode costs extra).
Our server was pleasant. We appreciated that she de-boned the fish for us.

We have been coming here for years and should have written a review a long time ago. In the past we enjoyed the fish boils (you have very decent servings of fish, potatoes, onion, bread, and a piece of pie). But we are not huge fish people, so we opted to just enjoy a great breakfast 1-2 times per visit. The cherry pancakes are very good which is our go-to. We have had several other breakfast items and they are good as well (except maybe the hash browns which are too crispy in our opinion). However, we always go back and order the pancakes. The service is fast and friendly, the atmosphere is very relaxing with great views of Green Bay out the front window. For those that like to eat outdoors, plenty of seats are available. Price is very reasonable for a very filling breakfast.

The fish boil experience we had here was nothing short of awesome! I consider this in many was dinner and a show together. Upon arriving and checking in we were welcomed in and invited to go out back to watch the preparations. The outdoor bar was great to enjoy in the September weather and also nice to enjoy a drink while watching the preparations of the dinner.

Our boil master did an awesome job of preparing the meal and really explaining the history of the fish boil dinner. We got to see the fish portions going in to the dinner up close which was really cool. The boil over was awesome to see and then we moved on to the dinner itself.

If the weather allows I recommend seating outside as they do it really well. The food was awesome with no shortage of flavor. We got one of the fish dinners and also a rib dinner as well. Both were awesome and the sides were great too. They don’t short you on butter or other spices so take it all in as it’s great. The table seasoning also compliments the food as well.

The cherry pie dessert finish with some optional ice cream made everything great and finished off the meal nicely. Very highly recommended!

This is a breakfast must for everyone staying in DC. The best breakfast - always!! Great waffle (it's huge) with the cherries baked inside and whipped cream on top. Beautiful view of the Bay, seating outside as well, always great service, it just doesn't get any better than this!

Had a wonderful fish boil meal. Cost was $28.00 which we thought was not bad. We were all full and pie was I included. They deboned the fish for you, a couple small bones were left.
Water was across the street and we sat outside.
Eight of us went and were all happy.

First time to Door County, Wisconsin, the Old Post office was highly recommended from our resort. It did not disappoint!!! We had never witnessed a fish boil, so that was a treat. The food was delicious, the sunset gorgeous, and everyone we met were so friendly. If you get a chance to do this, it was really neat.

We were here for the fish boil experience. Something you need to try if it’s your first time visiting door county. The restaurant is facing the lake so i suggest you book in advance to sit at the table with sunset view.

Update: Just to make sure people see this and we just visited door county again, and reminded me how pissed I was, but we tried fish boil at white gull inn this time, it was way better than this

July 2019: The food was just so so, but the manager was very inpatient, she did not let us seat inside in which there were some spot available, but sit at the entrance, which was annoying, the fish boil show was okay, otherwise don’t recommend, btw I just forgot to mention the manager could be a racist, we were the only Asians that night and she yelled at us: Go to A1, which is the tiny table at the entrance, and the waiter told us that was a table for three, and we were a group of 4, speechless and upset

Awesome! This was the first fish boil I've ever experienced. The Whitefish was delicious and watching the fish, potatoes and onions cook was very entertaining and historically informative. You have to make reservations for this meal and it's only a dinner experience. Well worth the price...

We always love the fish boiling show. I suggest to have a table outside in the front porch or by the window because the view is terrific especially close to the sunset time. I also siggest to get the last show of the day so you are not rushed to finish! Service was great.
Also breakfast the day after was really good.

We enjoyed the sunset fish boil. They provided an exciting experience around the outdoor fire where the fish boil was prepared while giving a brief history. The food was served quickly and staff was there for our every need! I loved the cherry pie! Thanks for the awesome experience.

The fish boil show was entertaining. The food was pretty good. Pretty bland. But we're from Texas where we like a lot of spices. Been there, done that. Probably wouldn't go back, unless with somebody that has never experienced it. Then I would let them eat the whitefish and I would order something else. Beutiful sunsets on clear days.

One of a kind experience. Get there early to get a seat to watch the fish boil, then enjoy the fresh fish with the sides. Then finish off the meal with a sensational yummy piece of Door Co. Cherry pie. Service is top notch.

We stopped there for a bite to eat. The place was very busy and majority of staff was very rude to us. We were standing in line to put her name in for a table, and decided because the staff was so rude we weren't going to stay there, and left.

We had the best time, out for our first fish boil here at The Old Post Office. Their fish boil is the best we ever had, the reserved table and the server will remove the bones, is you ask. Our server Agie was fantastic!
