Restaurant Bar Caterer Event planner Event venue New American restaurant Wedding venueDescription
The Old Schoolhouse Tavern in Merrimac, Wisconsin is once again open to the public and serving food after a long absence. Preciously it spent a few years as a private event venue only but that has all changed with new ownership. Come by and see us. We think you'll like it.

Really, REALLY wish I could give a better review. The ambience and friendly service was spot on. It was clean, were seated quickly...The food, not so much. We had the baked cod and walleye fish fry. The baked cod was flavorless, the walleye was ok but was super fishy tasting and the batter was unappetizing, the hush puppies had too much onion, Coleslaw was possibly sour cream(?) and bland. Everything was served quickly but was COLD. Disappointed. We will try again....

There were a few other tables, but I think there were only 2 people working, waitress & cook. The food was not hot, barely warm & the prices we were charged were not the same as the menu, possibly new prices?

They just added a full menu. I stopped in for a bloody Maria and some of their homemade special cheese curds.

Just stopped in after seeing this is open again. Beautiful historic building with full bar and outdoor seating. Great atmosphere and lots of space. Looking forward to trying the food.

Healthy, homemade food cooked to order at a four way stop in the middle of the driftless. What a happy surprise to find The Old Schoolhouse restaurant open with a full menu just minutes from Devils Lake State Park. The owner shared stories with us and the staff were as accommodating as could be. I selfishly hope you all stop in so I can stop back next time I'm near!

Great place for late lunch after a hike at Parfrey's Glen. Terrific service for our parched party of 4. Loaded pretzel appetizers came in a timely manner. Our potato crusted chicken and burgers came after a pleasant conversational interlude. We hear there's music. We'll be back.

Stopped for food. Told the kitchen is being renovated and not open for approximately 3 weeks to finish and pass inspections.

We stopped in for a drink. Saw lots of interesting decor including a jail, chapel and antique school stuff. Ideal for large gatherings.
