Always phenominal! Appetizers are creative and always delicious. Try to make it a pount stop in between my travels from Chicago to Appleton. Had a very nice a great experience at the Original. We were out of town guests and we went online and saw the Original. Great atmosphere, great service and great food! The staff was super friendly and welcoming! I wish they had another restaurant by my home town! Brussels sprouts were cooked perfectly, but check out Cloud Red down the street in Shorewood for sprouts that truly blow your socks off. The Cornish hen, while also cooked well, was served with steamed vegetables and lacked any impressive flavors to make up for the difficulty to eat. The duck was overcooked, tough and fatty, with a serious lack of glaze, on a bed of mediocre fried rice that was no better than average Chinese takeout. The service was below expectations, the two servers kept asking us if the other had helped us, they clearly weren’t communicating with each other and weren’t welcoming. The table immediately next to the bathrooms is an embarrassment and should not exist for the price you’re paying, it’s shocking that they think anyone wants to eat their dinner two feet from the bathrooms, you could literally smell the bathrooms. Overall the food and experience were disappointing, and for the price, or even much less, you can do better in Milwaukee.

Went here for the first time today for Sunday brunch. Very cute place and a nice patio area for warm weather. I had their eggs benedict and it was delicious, made with Berkshire ham and one of the best hollandaise sauces I've ever had. Hash browns were done perfectly, nice and crispy on the outside. Also ordered the jonnycakes served with pure maple syrup, delicious! Had a small butter lettuce and onion salad with honey vinaigrette dressing. My daughter had steak and eggs, her steak was very tasty and done perfectly medium rare. Prices were reasonable. Our server was awesome. Really great experience, looking forward to dining there again.

For the entrees; the steak was perfectly cooked and I couldn't get enough of the poule with herbs and house made Cesar dressing. My wife got the duck entree, which was cooked medium rare, kept its gamey flavor while capitalizing on the fat with a veggie puree backdrop. The suggested cocktails for each entree were excellent and paired perfectly with the dishes we ordered. We capped off the evening with the bread cheese dessert and split a tawny port. Awesome experience overall, and on Valentine's Day to boot! An absolute gem on the east side. Upscale protein at mid range prices. If you're in Milwaukee, make your way to The Original!

New Year’s Eve dinner at the Original did not disappoint!

The prix fixe menu was perfection with each course building on the next until the finale: dessert: scratch carmel sauce, melt in your mouth truffle and the perfect poached pair with blue cheese. one of the best restaurants I’ve eaten at in my life. Tried brunch here, and was shocked by how good the food was (it is hard to be impressed by a routine egg breakfast), had to come back for dinner. Dinner was even more sensational. Where do they source such buttery scallops?? How do they achieve such a perfect searing of steak? How did they make the cornbread taste like a perfect puff pastry?? Definition of a hidden gem, because the food here is as amazing if not better than Michelin starred restaurants I’ve tried all over the world. The prices are steep for the location, but extremely cheap considering the obvious skill/thought behind the recipes and pairings in each dish. Not to mention the wait staff - incredible service, and one of the few restaurants nowadays that works as a team for the hospitality of the whole restaurant.

I went twice for brunch with my partner and the atmosphere was amazing. But the prices were a bit on the expensive side for the small portions, and somehow everything tasted like burnt butter. the bacon was dust it tasted like it was freeze dried, both times i went my order was incorrect with sides i requested and the second time i received the wrong food entirely. overall a good experience just very disappointing food.

I adore the Original. My partner lives across the street and I’d been wanting to try it for awhile, but tonight we finally stopped in! Everything about our experience was marvelous, from the impeccable food to the gracious hospitality from one of the owners. We went to The Original last evening for a friends 40th birthday. I can’t say enough about how phenomenal the entire experience was. The owner, Craig, was our waiter and he was superb! He was fun, knowledgeable, and laid back. His nephew was helping him serve us and clear the table and he did a great job! The cocktails were fantastic and the food was incredibly flavorful and outstanding! We were there for over 3 hours and loved every minute. The patio area is beautiful and Craig also showed us the intimate indoor seating area and introduced us to the bartender who is also family. Love this restaurant. Love the staff and food and drinks. True definition of a family establishment. It is incredibly impressive what this team churns out. Craft cocktail selection is impeccable - Black Manhattan on menu or Vieux Carré off…you’re welcome. Service is both attentive but also engaging and conversational, be open and try something new here, it’s worth it. Everything is clearly prepared fresh and with the highest quality ingredients. The hand crafted cocktails were great and the food was absolutely amazing. My husband and I had the calamari as a starter and the scallops and duck for entrees. Both were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back!

Can’t imagine there is a better restaurant in Milwaukee. Fantastic atmosphere with even better service and food. The fact that there wasn’t a line out the door indicates that people simply don’t know about this place. Our party had several items from the menu and everything was incredible. We will stop here every time we’re in town.

My husband and I had a GREAT date night here last weekend. It has a really nice atmosphere and the server was very attentive. Everything was served at just the right pace to make for a lovely evening. Awesome Manhattans, steak, and fish special. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone!

Meal was delicious. Waiter was kind, jovial, and a pleasure to discuss the area with. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because we were seated outside due to COVID-19 restrictions and the tree above us has many berry's fall on the metal roof causing much noise. It really took away from the whole experience in the beginning. As time went on we ignored it as the food was the main attraction. Hopefully the inside dining area opens soon.

I had the charcuterie board, Pana cotta, and the cats pajamas. Everything was so well prepared that you can tell the chef cares a lot about the items and the presentation. The drink was lovely and the bartender / owner was wonderful to talk to as I enjoyed my meal. Would happily come back!

We love the Original.
We were last there when the patio was still open. At that time they were taking about there new Covid idea to seat only one party at a time in the dining area for a set price for a 4 course meal with drinks.
We thought that was a great idea.
We were able to get are parents out of their houses tonight for a somewhat normal experience. To share some good times with us and the server and bartender. No one else for 2 hours. The food and drinks were fantastic. I had Brussel sprouts, chili, steak and pie. Everything was perfect. The atmosphere was nice they even turned ther lights up for the older eyes. We ended with a candle for a young 80 year old to celebrate his birthday. It was nice to have a place to be safe with just us and to live life as best we can and to support places like the Original so they can survive.

The Original is a great place always - but their idea for the pandemic is special. We had a wonderful night with our older parents, who due to the pandemic have not gone out out to eat, and won't for quite awhile. To be able to have a table to ours selves and safely have a great night out was very special - and much needed by all. Thank you!

BBQ Pork Chop is so nice. The sauce is so good. The side of it i chose green bean and Mac and cheese, which is so yummy.
Milwaukee Melt Sandwich is awesome. It is really juice and cheesy. The French fries, which is the side of sandwich is super juicy and crispy. You will love it!

Have been here for drinks, which are always fantastic! And the other night I finally had their dinner offerings, which were also wonderful. I had the Boar chop and it was absolutely delicious. My wife was also very pleased with her steak. The service was excellent and was possibly the best I've ever had in all honesty. Definitely going to make The Original another regular spot for us.
