We came here to celebrate our anniversary and we had the best time! My husband go the peach old fashioned and I got the sweetie drop! It tasted just like a sweet tart! Then we got some spinach and artichoke dip! Sooooo good! I swear I could go on and on about the food! Our waitress was also super friendly and attentive! We can’t wait to go back!

The food is wonderful. The spinach and artichoke dip is amazing, and the sourdough is so good. The patio is the best vibe. The inside of the restaurant is so warm and inviting. Drinks are also very good.

First time here. Came with another couple. We had 6:00 p.m. reservations. The building has been lovingly restored, with bar and dining areas on both the first and second floors.

We were seated right away on the second floor at a regular table. There are also some high-tops that were being used for parties of two. Our waitress did a great job getting us waters, menus, and our first drink order. She also let us know what the weekend specials were.

We started with the Spinach Artichoke Dip, which was very good. It came with a bunch of pieces of grilled sourdough bread, which complemented the dip nicely. Our drinks were good, though I felt the Golden Hour Paloma was a little underwhelming.

For entrées, we ordered the Grilled Salmon, the Orville Salad (with shrimp), the Filet Mignon, and I had the special, “Inferno” — a grilled tenderloin filet on top of a deep-fried portabella mushroom, served on spinach with a touch of sriracha. While waiting, the server came over to update and apologize for the delay. I only mention this because I really didn’t think the wait was unusually long (but I appreciated their attentiveness).

After a few more minutes, our food arrived, and it was excellent — served at good temperatures, with terrific flavors and generous portions. The special (filet on mushroom and spinach) was excellent. The filet was ordered medium rare but came out closer to medium; still, it was very good. The fried mushroom was crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The sauces were an excellent complement and tied everything together. I would definitely order that again.

The noise level was good overall, though there were moments — when seating new tables or during the ordering process — when it got VERY loud. I wouldn’t have wanted that to last the whole time.

Throughout the evening, we were well attended to. Friendly, efficient service with great follow-through (thanks, Rachel).

The Orville goes on the “Must Come Back To” list. :)

Blown away by this place. The tuna tartare and Coconut Shrimp were both delicious appetizers. The flavors and freshness was impressive. The pastas were equally unique, fresh and full of pure flavor. The service was A+++! So kind and attentive. Can't wait to go back.

By far the most exquisite meal ever. Tried a little of everything. The tuna tartare was fresh and so flavorful. Steak, pasta, cheese curds, and a shared desert later and we were in heaven. Julia, our server, was super friendly and gave outstanding service. She happily checked on egg and even double checked when my “cream sauce paranoia” kicked in. The kitchen even subbed marinara in for the ranch without asking so both of us could enjoy them with sauce. Their chef/sou chef are wizards in the kitchen. Cooked to perfection, plated beautifully, and each and every dish was seasoned to perfection! We came in at about 6, without reservations and were seated immediately, but the dinner crowed filled in the downstairs as the night went on. It was pleasantly quiet when we were eating, I’d not recommend eating downstairs if you have a loud/large group or need a lot of privacy. The do have an upstairs dining room that we did not see. Will absolutely be coming back here to try more dishes. Feels like a night on the town in NYC more than a fabulous meal in West Bend!

Thr Orville had good food. Our waitress was really friendly and good at her job. My son got married that day across the street at The Heritage Center! There was also 2 other wedding parties!! Drinks almost as much as food!! We were allowed to bring in wedding cake!! The downstairs level is a little small

What a wonderful dining experience! Nice to have a place in West Bend that knows how to prepare exceptional food. Tenderloin was absolutely cooked to perfection...melted in my mouth! The surprise of the night was there were 3 women, myself included, enjoying a birthday celebration. Our server, Brooklyn, was attentive and pleasant. We even had a visit from Henry! Highly recommend and is our new "go to" spot for dinner.

Epic! That’s the only way to describe my experience at The Orville in West Bend.

From the first sip of The Bees Knees to the last bite of the Salted Caramel Crème Brûlée, everything was absolute perfection. My Gnocchi Pomodoro was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully balanced—comfort food at its finest. And that crème brûlée? Hands down the best I’ve ever had. If I could have ordered a vat of it, I would have.

Beyond the amazing food and drinks, our server, Alex, made the experience even better. She was friendly, kind, and had just the right amount of wit to keep up with my sarcasm (and dish a little back). It was all in good fun, and it made the evening that much more enjoyable.

If you haven’t been to The Orville yet, go. Immediately. You won’t regret it!

We absolutely loved The Orville! Went to celebrate my husband's birthday and Valentine's Day, but decided to skip the hustle and bustle of V-Day. Sam was such a sweet and attentive waitress, couldn't ask for better service! We had the best artichoke dip I've ever had, I think it was the grilled toast that really did it, but the dip was amazing too! I had Lobster Mac & Cheese and my husband had a beautiful salmon dish...both perfect, and can't wait to have the leftovers from my Mac (huge chunks of lobster!). I had a lavender martini, simply lovely and delish! Tried my husband's old fashioned and yummmm to that too, had a cinnamon twist to it. We'll be back, hands down. And the ambience and lighting make for a very romantic time. Oh and they gave my husband a birthday card that everyone signed! Gave him a choice of dessert, just so sweet, no pun intended. It would be hard to find a better salted caramel creme brulee. Then since we had a late reservation Sam so kindly said we could take all of the remaining roses 🌹 🌹 🌹. They smell heavenly. Thank you all, we're so excited to have found you, when I heard it was the sister restaurant of The Norbert I knew it would be fantastic, but that's an understatement!!!

Had the pleasure of trying the Orville on Valentines Day. We started with the cheese curds appetizer, and then he had roasted chicken and pasta, I had the beef and lamb bolognese. Everything was delicious and the atmosphere on the 2nd floor was great. They even gave a rose at the end of the meal for the holiday, which was a sweet touch.

My husband and I went to The Orville yesterday evening to celebrate my birthday. We appreciated the historic building it is located in and the vibe was very cozy. I am currently pregnant so it was great to see some mocktails on the menu. I ordered the Pomegranate Hibiscus Soda and it was not too sweet, refreshing and looked beautiful! For my main entree I had the filet mignon which was incredibly tender, with fluffy mashed potatoes, and crisp broccolini on the side. Since it was my birthday, they brought me a complimentary creme brulee with a lit candle and even a card which all the wait staff had personally signed, which I found endearing! All in all we had a great experience and we are planning to come back for our anniversary! Can't wait to try more of their menu!

We made reservations for dinner. They were extremely busy with holiday shoppers and parties. Our table was accidentally given to another couple. After waiting, by the hostess stand for awhile we were ushered upstairs to the bar area. The server found us spots at the bar and gave us our first drink "on the house." We enjoyed watching how quickly and efficiently the staff worked to make drinks and ensure that everyone was comfortable. Sarah the bar manager checked in with us several times to make sure that we were enjoying our dining experience. The cocktails are spot on and the wine list is extensive even by the glass. We enjoyed the steak tartar appetizer, bolognese, and perfectly prepared baked cod. Our only regret is that we didn't have any appetite left for the amazing looking desserts. We are looking forward to trying them on our next visit. Thank you to the Orville staff for a wonderful evening!

We had an "accidental" date night at The Orville tonight and had a super nice experience. We're new to West Bend and decided to try some new places, didn't know what to expect at The Orville, but suffice to say it was great. Quaint and well decorated, it bring the charm of an old world establishment into the 21st Century. I had the rosemary chicken and my wife had the Bolognese, both with a side Orville side salad and toasted house sourdough bread. It was all very good, and the staff was friendly and very attentive. We will definitely be back and suggest it for anyone wanting a dinner a notch above and beyond.

I think the server's name was Julie and she was absolutely phenomenal. I don't think I've ever had better service. She genuinely cared if we actually enjoyed the food or not and was willing to make something else if we didn't like it, and her personality was warm and very friendly. I also appreciate that even though I am younger, I was treated the same way as any other paying customer.

The inside dining room is pretty small with only about 6 tables but did not feel over crowded, and the outdoor dining area was also nice.

Wow, what happened? My family has enjoyed coming here for years as the food was always great but not at all anymore. This is my second visit that has been bad and now my last try. We ordered salads in which the lettuce was brown, the ribeye steaks had a very hard texture, the potatos were fake instant verses fresh mashed, the mushrooms and beans were greasy and all the food was at best luke warm. Very disapointing and sad as the atmosphere is so amazing.

My wife and I came here on our anniversary and when we walked up to the door their hostess opened the door for us. That alone speaks volumes for how well this staff treats its patrons!

The food we had was:
Spinach and artichoke dip with their home made bread. 5/5

The gnocchi 5/5
And the chicken parm 5/5

The staff was great and the food was super quick.

Everything about this experience has me speechless and so happy!

My only complaint if you want to consider this one was that it felt as if they didn’t have AC running and the day we went it was 90+ degrees outside. So it was very warm. But even with that. I couldn’t recommend this fantastic establishment more!

We came here to celebrate an anniversary and two birthdays! The food and service was excellent!!!!! Started with Cheese Curds and Spinach Artichoke Dip. The cheese curds were more like cheese bricks. They were wonderful and melt in your mouth delicious! The house made Dill Pickle Ranch served with the curds was phenomenal as well. The fresh Sourdough Bread and Spinach Artichoke Dip, yummmm!!! I had the Lobster Mac which was so savory and not heavy like most pastas. Not to mention, the atmosphere inside was so cute and the backyard patio was so romantic. The staff were so great and accommodating! They even snapped a few pics for us!

Food came out Luke warm on a room temp plate. We had steaks and plate should have been hot. Even our appetizer which was fried cheese came out to us barely warm. Not sure why as restaurant was not busy. The mashed potatoes were very puréed and barely warm. I asked for pepper for my steak and was brought a small shaker when I know they have a pepper grinder which is appropriate for use on a steak. I had to take the top off the shaker to get anything out. We had salads, the Orville salad and the Caesar salad. Both were as expected and good. They used finely ground Parmesan instead of shaved on the Caesar which I do not recommend. We will go back one more time as we liked the food and hopefully it will be served to us hot.

We were lucky to get VIP seating even though there isn't a bad seat in the whole place. We tried food that we haven't eaten before and it was :out there" fantastic! I wondered why there were no salt and pepper shakers on the table. Then, the food came in waves and needed no seasoning other than how it came. The pasta was great and my steak was cooked perfectly. Smoked mashed potatoes...who does that...The Orville does that. If you haven't eaten here...GO!!!! That cranberry tart...perfect. Not too sweet. A real wonderful experience.

The Orville is located in a historic building. Upon arriving before we got to the front door, the host was already welcoming us with the door open. Every aspect of service was on point. Any drinks requests were taken when anyone's glass was at a 1/4 left. The flavors and tenderness were amazing. Our family shared the steak tartare and the grilled octopus. Both had great texture and the grilled octopus melted in your mouth. Other dishes ordered were steak, scallops, pastas, pork chop, salad, and the heirloom tomatoes with burrata. Everyone commented about the flavors and great meals. The staff are working extremely hard to ensure everyone has a great time.

Caesar salad was top notch.
Buratta dish was execellent to me, but my husband wanted cheese to be more milky and squishy inside. (The way it wasn’t made me love it! This is one of the best restaurants in the area. The combination of food and atmosphere make it great for family dinners or an Intimate night out. The upstairs has a nice bar and feels more like a lounge or speak easy.
I have had the Black Angus burger both times and the people in my party raved about the pasta dishes.
Great beers, wine and drinks.

Ate there recently (New Years eve in fact) and I'm a bit torn by this review. I had the lamb shank and my dining partner had the Crab Tagliatelle. Sorry.. took no pictures

The pluses +
The service was outstanding
Food was excellent.
Very welcoming inside in terms of the ambiance.

The minus -
I had a hard time finding any crab flavor in the Crag Tagliatelle. To be fair the dish was quite good, but I would have not known there was crab in it by eating it.

Lamb shank was outstanding, but given what you really got for the cost, having a hard time justifying the price vs what was on the plate. I had maybe 8 -10 bites of the lamb, as that is all there was.

Note - Fairly ala carte here. No bread or butter/olive oil served or anything other than what you order, which is part of my cost complaint.

Basically my minus for me boils down to the value. Others may find it an acceptable value. I would consider returning... Not a complete turnoff for me.

We went here on Saturday night for our anniversary. We have dined at The Norbert but thus was our first time at The Orville.

My wife had the venison ragu. She was a little worried about the venison. The venison wasn't gamey tasting and she loved it.

I had the 6 oz fillet mignon. The steak was cooked perfect and the demi glaze was a nice added touch.

Excellent meal.

The staff was freindly and the service was great. We will definitely dine here again.

My sister and I came here for dinner for the first time since it was The Poplar Inn. This was truly an A+ dining experience. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is fantastic, and the food is excellent. Started with a pomegranate sangria which was very good. We shared an appetizer of artichoke dip with their homemade bread which was savory and perfect. We both had the filet mignon with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and mushrooms. I have had many many steaks in my 50 years on earth and this was the best I've ever had. So much so that I've already made reservations to celebrate my birthday here. Ordered carrot cake to go and it looks fantastic! This is my new favorite restaurant.

Absolutely wonderful time at the Orville. Great spot for a date night or gathering with friends. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable with any menu questions. The chef was really helpful and even took time to talk through allergy questions. The food is very delicious and can be catered to any persons tastes. Highly recommend making a special trip to have a meal here.

This is an intimate, 'date night' type of place you see in the movies - not typically in Wisconsin.
Excellent food, the service was phenomenal, and the drinks were well-made.
My wife and I were both impressed by this restaurant and WILL be back.

Absolutely Phenomenal food, service and atmosphere. We went last night as a group of 8 and it was, from start to finish, complete perfection. Tuesday night special is 1 free hors d’oeuvres for every two entrees ordered and we had five different starters and each one was as excellent as the other.

Cocktails were meticulously crafted with locally sourced ingredients and unique to The Orville. All 8 entrees were perfect and everyone in our group was raving about each aspect of the experience, especially the food and service.

Everyone was excellent but, if you can, I would suggest asking for a table in Romana’s area, she was a professional and also fun and so helpful.

Do not pass this place up for a first date, family dinner or to make a great first impression with anyone.

To Tony (owner/chef), Romana (our server) and the rest of the staff… Thank you!!! Absolutely worthy of more than 5 stars!

Came to visit from PA, and one of our favorite things to do in WI is going out to eat. The Orville gave the best cheese curds I've ever had, a scrumptious array of cocktails, and awesome vegetarian options. But the atmosphere, service, and complimentary sanitary products in the unisex bathroom, are worth a big shout out, too! Can't wait to visit the state again, mainly to visit The Orville!

Super cute patio area. I would visit just to sit there and enjoy a cocktail with friends. Definitely not cheap, but the food is super fresh with interesting and sometimes surprising combinations like the lemon zest in the bruschetta. Servers were professional and earnest. Overall a great experience. We'll definitely be back to try some more.

Four of us had a wonderful meal and experience here. We tried a number of apps and entrees and each was very good. My fish fry was excellent ... light and crispy. The baked fish was equally good. I also have to say the service team was superb... every single person from the world's friendliest hostess to our servers was wonderful. Thanks!

We were directed to The Orville by its sister restaurant, The Norbert, since they were booked up for over an hour.

The Norbert is my favorite restaurant, and my group and I all assumed that the food at The Orville would be similar to The Norbert, with the most popular dishes crossing over.
Not so. The Orville has its own menu, and while everything was fresh, presented well, and was tasty, the food just didn't charm me like The Norbert.

However, the staff was enchanting and the surroundings were rich with history. And I still give the food 4 out of 5 stars.
Note:(If ordering the pasta, ask for a little olive oil to drizzle over the top.)

Nothin' against the Norbert, but this place might even be better. Think of The Orville as The Norbert's version of a Wisconsin supper club--no tapas. But same tasteful atmosphere and great service. Arguably the best restaurant in West Bend and beyond. If you like good dishes with an artful twist you will be very pleased. And a good selection of wines, beers and drinks, too! Can't wait for the outdoor seating to open...it's beautiful back there...
