We visited The Red Rooster restaurant on Saturday Oct 11 2025 around 4pm, it was our second visit there, the first one on a Friday about four months ago. We were greeted by a middle aged tall skinny red head waitress, I didn't catch her name. There were 5 tables seated with the largest being a five top by the side door. The waitress greeted us with menus then came back ten minutes later to take our drink orders: Me: Cheeseburger M/R with sweet potato fries and a side salad with french dressing (I asked for it ahead of my meal) wife: buffalo chicken salad, no buffalo sauce (she's allergic), grilled chicken and ranch dressing on the side. Well, our drinks came and 40 minutes later food came, food not what we ordered. My burger was burnt and with waffle fries, wife's salad had chicken tenders and buffalo sauce poured over the entire salad, no dressing was brought out. We waited about ten more minutes for the waitress to show her face and pointed everything out to her. She acknowledged the mistake and took the salad back. I refused to start eating without my wife having her food so I pushed my plated to the center of the table and let her pick on the waffle fries. Twenty minutes later the salad appeared but no dressing. All of sudden appeared with my dinner salad and that had no dressing, perhaps she thought I wanted it as my dessert?! I kindly asked her for dressing for our salads and she gave me a strange look. In the mean time our soda cups were completely empty even though she visited or walked by the table several times.
I witnessed a lady from the five top get up twice and walk to the bar and order her own drinks for her table.... Umm what?
There were literally 5 tables in the restaurant, I saw at least four staff members between the bar and service floor and one of the owners play bar dice with some guy at the bar.
The waitress came by after twenty minutes and asked if everything was ok, I kindly replied, "you must be kidding me?". I asked for the bill, ten minutes later she brought, it was $56, I gave her a $100 bill and she returned and scooped it up and said she will bring me my change. Twenty minutes later she returned with my change.
WHAT A FREAKING PATHETIC JOKE OF A RESTAURANT! NEVER AGAIN WILL I STEP FOOT INTO IT! STAY AWAY!

Food is fantastic. Fish fry is great, service is quick and friendly. Strongly recommend all potato varieties. If you want a classic wisconsin fish fry experience, you cant go wrong here.
One note- as of September 2025,
Don't bother ordering a mixed drink if it isnt an old fashioned or a bloody mary. Bartender waters down or something every drink. Even bourbon w 2 ice cubes was heinous bad.

I have gone to the Red Rooster for years. They have very good food and very nice staff. There is no ambience. There is an outdoor patio. My friends went for 2 dollar tacos on Tuesday. They said they are way better and way bigger than 2 other places. They are going to Red Rooster from now on.

Other than the terrible waitress and the hose water they served, the food that was warm was pretty good. Chicken wings were not even warm. Younger waitress had an attitude like she was being forced to work. I wish I would have got the older woman who was serving, she seemed super nice to her tables around me. This waitress was legitimately the first unfriendly person I’ve met in Wisconsin.

Another favorite of ours. Bring on the old-fashioned and make it a double, please! Relaxing. Staff is always consistent. Food is spot on. This is another place that feels at home when you walk in the door. This isn't high-end. This is comfort. After that long week at work, this is chill time. This is me time. Or, you and me time. All ages are here. Which tells me this is a place that makes everyone happy. Go. Sit at the bar for a while before eating. Make conversation with people next to you because you can. Or sit quietly and no one will bug you. Relax. This is about you. Because working for "the man" can get old, but unwinding never does. Have a good evening!

Seems like a hidden gem. Went on a Friday and had the cod fish fry and wife had the chicken avocado pecan cranberry salad. The fish fry was decent although the two pieces of cod loins were nothing special, over salted and undercooked. The baked potato was huge and delicious and coleslaw was good. My wife loved her salad. Great variety of beer and menu. It looks like they make a great popular old fashioned. We will definitely return.

Best Healthy salad in 3 counties that I know of. My favorite is the Chicken, Pecan, Cranberry salad. They use Spring Mix,( arygila, romaine, spinach n red lettuce) like no other restaurant .
Chicken grilled perfect, Avocado, tomatoes etc. Great salsa dressing.
My girlfriend had a grilled chicken n Avocado wrap with Sweet potatoe fries. She says the Best SP fries she has ever had.
Lots of people come for the other bar food which must be also very good. Packed at lunchtime. So it must be good.

This is a hole in the wall type place. Went for dinner. Ordered the Asian Salmon. It was bad. The Salmon was way overdone and really fishy smelling. The vegetable was cold. The waitress wasn't that great. We wanted to try it but it's not for me so I won't be back.

Ate here on Good Friday and waited over hour after our early 4:10 pm just to get seated. After being seated and order was taken we received our drinks and soup right away and waited over an hour and twenty minutes for our food! We questioned this several times while waiting and were told that it was coming! Now mind you that at least 2 tables around us that were seated after us got there food ate and left before we even got our food! This was just awful we were there 5 of us celebrating my moms 88 birthday! We were comp a round of drinks and the waitress finally admitted she made a mistake! If they wanted us to come back we should have been comped half of our meals! Also 2 of the people in the group eat there a couple times a month! This was a terrible experience and recommended calling ahead to reserve if 5 or more because as we were there over 3 hours the reserve table sat empty we should and could have been seated and left before the reservation under usual circumstances

My husband and I visited for the first time on 2/19/2025. We absolutely loved the food. I had the chicken dinner and he had the campfire mac and cheese. Had my second takeout fish fry last Friday. The first one was good with the exception of overcooked potato pancakes. I mentioned that to the bartender (Natasha) who just happened to also be the owner. She went back to the kitchen and requested them to be lightly fried this time. The meal was terrific. Their fish is lightly breaded and very meaty and flaky. Needless to say the Rooster has a new fan after my first 4 trips there. Service is exceptional. These people take customer service seriously. Chrissy the bartender does a terrific job even when incredibly busy and always does so with the best of attitudes. I don't know how I've missed this place- it's a "gem"!

Had the blackened walleye fish fry on Friday. Never had fish that was full of bones from end to end. All I was doing is pulling small fish bones out of my mouth. We visited for the fish fry. We had to wait 50 minutes to be seated. The fish was very good. We had the potato pancakes which were good but slightly on the burned side. The place was very busy and very loud. We didn't talk much because we couldn't here each other. Some of the customers had a bit to drink and bumping into us as we ate. I recommend doing the take out and avoiding the crowd.

First time visit. Fish fry was very good but service was practically non-existent. Took our beer order, took our food order, brought our food, brought our bill. NO “Welcome to Andrea’s”, NO explanation about the popcorn machine in the corner, NO “How were those first bites?”, NO “Would you like another beer?”, NO “Would you like to try a dessert?” Our waitress could have had a better tip if she paid just a little bit of attention to us, and could have had an even bigger tip if she asked us about additional beverages or dessert. Does no one TRAIN wait staff anymore? Being successful at waiting tables is so much more than taking an order and bringing out food. We should have either gone for fast food or gotten takeout and enjoyed the food at home. SMH! 🤷‍♀️

This is a cute little restaurant with a small community feel. The servers and bartenders are friendly. They have great food and will often plan events in the bar for sports. They have good parking and no or few steps. I ate their fried cod with potato pancakes. We also ate their haystack of onions. Their macaroni and cheese is also excellent, too. Sometimes i go there just for that. All was fantastic.
