We were unfortunately disappointed with our recent visit to The Relish Tray. We checked the menu on their website before arriving, and upon receiving the in-person menu, it was vastly different than what was being offered. We ended up ordering the bacon cheddar sloppy joe and a salmon burger. The sloppy joe was only unseasoned dry ground beef (no sauce) topped with two slices of bacon and two slices of melted cheddar cheese in a bun, and the salmon burger was cooked well, but both the burger and the aioli were unseasoned and bland. The side of veggies included baby bella mushrooms which I don’t know of typically being eaten raw. I’ve been here before and the food was very good, so this was a surprising change.

I chose to have lunch at The Relish Tray Bistro & Speakeasy to celebrate my 72nd birthday today, 5/1/25. I have dined there previously and enjoy what I call a French-style of dining; healthy local ingredients, perfect poriton sizes, excellent service, and a good variety of meal options.
My husband chose the Shrimp Scampi, and I, the Salmon with Ameretto sauce and a side of fresh vegetables with a dill dip. The salmon and shrimp were cooked to perfection, and the sauces, while flavorful, did not overwhelm the taste of the fish but complemented them. The toasted herbed bread was a fine choice to serve with the shrimp for dipping into the sauce. The vegetables were crispy fresh. I enjoyed a glass of Pinot Grigio with the meal.

I highly recommend this establishment and some of the different from typical Midwestern norm menu items, especially for those who seek portion sizes like I have experienced in France. We ordered from the Small Plate section. I left feeling energetic and satisfied.

They do offer several types of burgers, fish dishes, and salads, and vegetarian selections.

I’ve never been disappointed at The Relish Tray — it’s always an amazing experience! From the moment you step in, you know you're getting fresh, real food made with wholesome ingredients. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about food allergies, and they genuinely care about making sure everyone has a safe and delicious meal. It's one of the few places I can enjoy in the area. 🙌

The Taco Hummus was an absolute standout! Flavorful, creamy, and with the perfect balance of spices — it was like nothing I’ve ever had before.

This little hidden gem in Downtown Baraboo should not be missed! The menu and specials were very unique and our food was delicious! The server Heather was wonderful and we got a chance to chat with the owner Amber. The atmosphere was very laid back but a little classy at the same time.

This was a nice place. It sounds like it's family-owned and the waitress was really nice. The menu has some great choices and I really enjoyed the German relish salad and the Mediterranean chicken.

Went back and tried the beef bulgogi tacos and got the German relish salad again and they were phenomenal. There are a lot of good choices on this menu.

I'm not exactly sure why the term "Speakeasy" is in the title, as this did not fit, whatsoever. When you think "bistro & speakeasy" you'd think dark & cozy atmosphere, maybe more eclectic, and this was just not it.

Upon entering, we noticed that the sign was flipped to "closed", however there were people inside, so we decided to check it out. With there being only 2 tables on a Saturday for lunch, we thought we lucked out. Our server informed us that she would be back in a few minutes. We have all worked in the service industry, and are incredibly patient.

Ten minutes later, she returns to bring menus. Ten minutes after that to take our drink order. She explained that they had a catering event earlier in the day and they are trying to get caught up. Again, completely understandable. Appreciate the communication, however we were not informed just how behind they were, or that they only had 2 people working (one cooking all of the plates, and one serving)

By the time we ordered our food, we have been there for about 40 minutes. Two other groups have walked in and out, without being greeted or approached, in the time that we waited TO ORDER. Our food was ok, but not worth the prices that we paid, or the time that we waited.

Shrimp Po' Boy on a wrap is a shrimp wrap. I could understand if you were using a type of pita bread, but a vegetable wrap or a tomato wrap, makes it a wrap.

Tuna plate was very obviously frozen tuna, which is fine when prepared correctly. They did let us know that they were out of rice chips (which is what it's generally served with), and they only had wheat thins... which seems odd for a bistro, but sometimes you work with what you got.

The Taco Hummus was completely smothered with both green and black olives, large halves of cherry tomatoes, and just did not look appetizing.

My husband and I both had the gouda burger. It was cooked perfectly and very tasty. As others have said, it did take about 20 minutes to get our food but everything is made to order. We weren't in a hurry and didn't mind the wait. We will definitely be back when we are in town.

Either they were just having a bad day when we went there for a late lunch, or they are understaffed and undertrained. Arrived about 2:30 , food was served at about 3:15. There was no update from the server during our wait. After the food arrived I was told that they were out of the side dish I ordered and offered an alternative. I was 1/3 of the way done with my meal when the alternative side dish arrived. The good news is that my shredded brisket tacos were very good. Bad news is that the food is overpriced: $14 for three small tacos and an ounce of potato chips. I'd say it should be priced under $10.

Great little bistro on the square. A fantastic variety of healthy foods to choose from with an incredible amount of flavor. They serve coffee, wine, and beer. Plates run $8-$15. My sister and I were in downtown Baraboo shopping, one of the vendors highly recommended us to try The Relish Tray for a fabulous hamburger. Their menu is absolutely fantastic so we decided to share the Baraboo Burger consisted of bison, wild boar, elk, Waygu. We also had a small plate mediterranean appetizer with veggie couscous we both agree after the first bite that is the best the most phenomenal burger we have ever eaten. The Mediterranean plate was absolutely amazing. If we could get them 20 stars we definitely would. The service was impeccable the food was perfect and the decor kept us nice and comfortable and relaxed. I’m from Illinois and I definitely will be back here several Times just so I can bring other family members and friends to try The Relish Tray!.

This is a great little place in Baraboo Wisconsin. I had the balsamic chicken with German Relish. Never heard of German Relish so I asked what it was. It is a whole lot of things including corn, peas, mushroom, onions...a lot of things I normally would not like but whatever they do to it is awesome.my wife had the Greek salad and it too looked good. I hope it was just a fluke. The 'beast burger' I ordered medium was near burnt and cooked bone dry. The other entrees we ordered we're wildly mediocre, especially given the high prices relative to other restaurants in the area.

Further, the wait time was long. The dining area was near empty and dead silent. The staff were nice and accomodating however the atmosphere was awkward.

I wouldn't recommend it, especially for the price. The other positive reviews suggest otherwise - perhaps it was an off day; that doesn't change the experience we had.
