I really like the cook here. He makes a lot of menu items with a Cajun flare. The gumbo brings me in, and I'm usually happy with what I order! Last visit I had the Cajun chicken and andouille sausage pasta and it was DELICIOUS. The bartenders are always nice, and overall, I love coming here!

I finally made it to Sandlots, what a great place to sit outside and have lunch. We'll have to go back some time to check out their entertainment, upcoming comedy show, or a live baseball game. They serve Carbliss here, I was pretty happy about that. Bartenders were very friendly, the place was clean. Looking forward to going back again.

Had 2 drinks. 2 John Daley's that tasted weird.
1 bowl of gumbo that was average.
1 brisket sandwich that was grey and dry which couldn’t be hidden by the barbecue sauce. French fries were petrified grease and very small amount of potato.
1 Sandlot salad. The lettuce was dripping wet in water. The garlic dressing was extremely runny. And the chicken tasted like chemicals.
The server was kind and energetic, but no amount of quality service was gonna help this food.
Do yourself a favor and stay away. This place is gross.

Being able to eat outside is always great. Our service was no so great, we weren't given napkins, ketchup, salt and pepper ect. until towards the end of our meal. Along with drink refills-we where one of 2 tables outside-and we have kids so just doesn't make sense. I'd say a handful of items I'd order again rueben blt or wings. But this time I ordered a grilled chicken buffalo wrap. The buffalo sauce is like watered down, my wrap was like eating a cheap salad in a tortilla. There was just tiny traces of shredded chicken in it. Another person in the family ordered pork tacos and it was again no meat on these tacos, ended up combining all meat from 3 tacos to make one decent taco. We love coming here since it's local and have been coming but I'd really love to see some effort from the chef. Some decent portions and more quality lettuce (maybe romaine) would definitely go a long way. Gordon Ramsey wouldn't be impressed at all.

Absolute worst service I have ever experienced. Came here on a Friday night and ordered 2 beers and waited 40 minutes and talked to the server 3 times and the bar tender who said we needed to talk to our server who was ignoring us. Ive had ok service, would be better had I not had such rude staff tell me that they didnt have time to tell me what salads they had and to go look at the menu. Also calling in for food they seem to have a problem with their noisy bar, and Ive had to shout my orders to them to get my point accross, also its not pleasant to hear profanity from bar patrons when Im calling in an order. Ate here on a hot June night. It was quite warm in the bar/restaurant. I don’t like cold AC but it was pretty warm and stuffy. We had the Creole Grouper. It was delicious. It came with vegetables, also great! Service was great. Friendly and fast, although it took a bit to initially come to our table once the server came to the table she was friendly and attentive. It wasn’t super busy but there was no toilet paper in the bathroom stall. Our biggest disappointment was the plastic silverware. We understand it’s a bar but for the quality of the food the tiny plastic fork that actually bends when you use it is annoying. If they can’t get real silverware at least have plastic that is usable. We will be back. Love the menu.

It is a great place to eat with the family. Even better if you like sports. We went here after driving past it like 50 times and decided to give it a try. The food is what I would call elevated sports bar. It is filling with large, hearty portions. Staff was welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed our whole experience. Only downside is it was warm inside and there didn't seem to be much if any A/C on which could be a problem when it gets really hot outside. Otherwise, it was a great experience that we all enjoyed. If you want oysters, this is your place. 5stars quality, fresh. The service has been lacking for last 3 years. Old, tired bartenders that give zero customer service. The broiled fish was over cooked and had a spoon full of miced garlic on it. Told the bartender and they did nothing about it. My wife runs a bar with kitchen, so we did tell the bartender. She had a huge problem with her complaining... Mocked her as we were walking out. Charged full price and I'm very upset and still hungry. Never again.

Last week we enjoyed going to Sandlots of Salem for the first time on a weeknight. We were attending a "traveling thirsty Thursday" happy hour remote appearance by WDRV classic rock radio station djs from Chicago. Loved the Sam Adam's & PBR beer, the free pizza, and friendly staff. We finally stopped here and glad we did, theres a separate bar area and dining area, the bar itself had plenty of seating and looked inviting, we sat in the dining area because we had a one year old with, the waitress was very nice and took our order on her memory and everything was as we asked, she also stopped often enough to see if we needed anything, we both ordered the 3 piece fish from a choice of 2, 3 or 4, it came with souo or a salad which we ordered the salad and it was good, the plate of fish came with cole slaw, tarter, lemons and fries but i believe tater tots were available, everything tasted great and the pieces were so big we both only ate 2 pieces, the atmosphere was very comforting and bathroom was clean, im definitely returning here, the picture is without the salad or cole slaw but gives you an idea of size and breading which i liked

Best gumbo I have ever had. Were I alone, I would tolerate the poor service for that gumbo, it is that good! We were seated quickly and order taken fairly quickly and that's where the service stopped. Granted, there was a baseball little league team that was having a party and that started after we were seated and served. However, our waitress never once checked on us after serving. Had to muddle through the latter half of my buffalo chicken with nothing to drink. Like I said, she was busy with the table of little leaguers, and I was patient as she entered all those orders on separate tickets, but when she started bussing tables rather than check on us, well, that is where she lost her tip. There weren't even any others waiting to be seated. But, like I said, BEST gumbo out there, anywhere.

Cool family friendly dive bar atmosphere, the check came out super low for all that we ordered as well. The issue is that the food tasted very... It wasn't special. It was as if everything was made with off the shelf ingredients and no tasting went in to determine what could make it special. It's very follow the recipe and use whatever our distributor had up for order...

That being said, it was present nicely and everything was fine. We didn't feel rushed, nothing was ruined but they don't go out of their way... For example, my bruchetta had a rock hard under ripe tomato that was very pale. It's edible and you'd see this at any McDonald's or other fast food. They also didn't have enough cheese so 4 pieces had quarter slices while the rest of the plate had half slices.

Place is great for kids or drinks, temper your expectations and you'll love it. You may even find something on the menu that stands out as delicious. I'll be trying it again and updating my review but we had 2 top shelf shots, a tall tap beer, 2 appetizers and a salad for $50. It was pretty shocking at how affordable this place is.

We go for dinner often. I've not had a bad meal. This place is awesome.

Amazing turnaround. This is now our go-to place! I had the baseball size meatball. It had a breadcrumb crust and was full of melted cheese inside...delicious!

The gumbo needs more gumbo in it. An onion and pepper mix with 2 sausage chunks does not do it for me. I would have rated lower but it was only a cup so a bowl possibly would have presented better. ALSO, please be aware.. The pandemic has forced them into using plastic ware. Andouille sausage appetizer is very difficult to eat with plastic. It's still very good. The fish is very good too. Just wish the gumbo was as good as advertised. The waitress was not interested in how we felt, at all! Thus the 3 star even though most of the food was good. Pay attention to the customer please.
