Stopped for an early dinner. The smash burger came as a double. We weren't that hungry so asked if we could get as single burgers. Waitress didn't think so but offered us the kids version (because she knew that was a single) but then she didn't think it came with fries so we ordered fries too. After a long wait (not busy) our burgers came out with fries. She said there would be a wait for our separate order of fries which we couldn't cancel because the order was already in. She told us we could take them home and warm them up. The burger patty looked no more than 2 oz. and was mostly bun. Had to ask for napkins. Looking at the menu just now realized meal was supposed to come with a drink and cookie but ours didn't.....maybe because we're not kids? But we didn't ask for the kids. We just wanted a single burger. The fries were good though. We should have walked across the street. The Social has a nice trendy vibe but didn't impress.

Great place! Had the burger and it was fantastic- maybe a couple bucks too speedy, but I’d get it again. They also have some crafty drinks that were also great. If I was to go back to Hayward I would eat here again.

Service was terrible. We pretty much fended for ourselves. You have to get your own napkins, silverware, and water-- literally. I had the lobster roll and it was expensive and disgusting. The waiter messed up our order and we were upcharged for fries. The atmosphere was nice though.

This is THE place for a fun cocktail in Hayward! The atmosphere, the art, the well made cocktails and the comfy bar stools make this a really cool place. We just had a little snack, so I’ll review the food another time.

We stopped in on a rain day and Monica and crew were busy, but took the time to serve us with a smile. We had drinks and a few appetizers, and they were great. Drinks were spectacular and the cheese curds and Tots were hot and tasty. Will definitely stop again!

Tana, our server, made our visit at The Social a day to remember! She was a Most Pleasant surprise to our visit to Hayward. We came from Duluth for our neighborhood getaway and the rain changed our plans and we ended up hanging at The Social and Tana made our afternoon! She is so personable and conversational. A true gem for our visit.

We were in Hayward from Duluth for a neighbor/friends weekend and stopped at the Social for a beverage. We had the best service! Tanna, our server, greeted us with the most genuine smile and provided us with recommendations for cocktails that were spot on. She was attentive to our group of 8, laughed with us, and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be back! Thank you, Tanna, for making this stop memorable! We totally recommend stopping at the Social, and hopefully, you will be fortunate to have Tanna as your server!

5 stars isn't enough for The Social in Hayward, WI! We stopped in and were blown away by the flavors and quality of the food. The chicken taquitos and cheese curds appetizers were a great start, and the double smash burger with bacon was perfection. The fries were crispy and fresh, and it's clear they're cooked with care. What really sets The Social apart is their commitment to using high-quality ingredients and cooking methods - frying in beef tallow instead of seed oils is a game-changer. It's refreshing to see a restaurant in Hayward prioritizing clean ingredients. We'll be back again and again to enjoy more of their delicious offerings!

Food was overcooked and over priced , nothing special. Better off going to a staple like Anglers.

Solid lunch experience.

The great:
Cheese curds. Fantastic.
Beer cheese sauce- must try, worth the +$2.
Patio looked great.

The okay/nit picky:
-We would love to have had the option for pan seared fish at lunch, but I get why it's dinner only.
-iced tea. I think they may use a slightly more fancy black tea but the flavors were a tad weird like a minty finish for the glass of iced tea I was hoping for. NBD but it was something that stood out. By the end of the second glass it was not as intrusive.
-service was good but not amazing. See below for why the extra 8-10 minutes for our server to come by to get our order ended up mattering in the long run.
-the food took a while. Sounds like it was typical for lunch tickets (of one entree) to run 30+ minutes. We weren't in a fuss about it, but it was noticeable and could be a deal breaker for some.
-this is an old school thing but I never prefer the staff wear open toes shoes. Too naked/bare feet for my taste to be so close to my dining experience.

Overall rooting for this place and hoping you find lots of success!

A great refresh from the Karb’s and TNT. The food selection was great and the outdoor patio was both dog-friendly and redesigned. I imagine it will keep getting more sophisticated! Great job on the launch.

Delicious food and great cocktails. Table was a little wobbly but I'll forgive it for how great everything was. A little more spendy but matches the quality of the food.

I was very happy we found this gem. We had been to the other local place down the street on July 4th and it didn't have great servers like The Social does. It lacked the personable, happy bartenders.

They had menus outside and that's the reason I went in. Originally I ordered the Thai chicken wrap to go. When I found out they had my beer I decided to dine in. My partner showed up to share the erap and a lobster roll. The bartender was great and took good care of us. The hostess was friendly and didn't stop smiling.

It was a holiday weekend so they had a special limited menu. Apparently it had been a super busy day and they had run out of most appetizers.

The Thai wrap would've been even better if it had been grilled on the outside. I'm not a fan of wraps that don't have that extra layer of flavor and maybe a little crunch. It tasted good and we ate it all. My guy wanted more peanut sauce and the owner happily brought him more.

I've never had a lobster roll. This tasted really fresh. The bartender said it's something they do on holidays. I'm not sure if they always serve food in paper baskets or if it's because of the holiday. The silverware was high quality.

We decided to give the peach cobbler a try after our meal. It came out quickly like the rest of our food. We were disappointed with the cobbler. It was not warm at all. It was obviously not made fresh that day. It taught me to ask questions before ordering next time. It totally didn't affect my review and I still paid for it even though we each only had a bite or two.

Our bartender's shift ended and we got another gal. They were both amazing and took great care of us. We may have stayed a bit longer than we should have stayed. We left with smiles inside and out. I'll be happy to come back and try out the real menu rather than the busy holiday menu.

The owners.... what were they thinking?? Opening a restaurant after most of their children were grown was very brave. They both work other jobs during the day and here in the evening. They were both very personable and friendly. I'm happy they chose to make this addition to this small town. The Social was 100% our favorite part of this trip to Hayward.

Looking at other reviews it astounds me the Mr Jake Johnson wrote such a negative review after saying how many great times he had there before one bad experience that he didn't really describe. No restaurant can be 100% all of the time. Employees come and go. More people should show grace now and then. They also shouldn't write one star reviews when the larger fraction of visits were great. If you enjoy reading reviews like I do, please start writing some good ones yourself! This place is amazing!

Food was amazing! It took a bit longer, but worth the wait! The indoor seating was upscale and outdoor area was great! We felt comfortable in our outdoor wear. The servers and owners were sooo friendly. Thanks for a wonderful dining experience!

The wait for food was absolutely atrocious. It wasn't nearly busy enough for an over an hour wait after ordering. Especially when they only brought out half of the food then we had to wait longer for the rest.
Some of the food was very good. Some of it was not great, or not warm enough, or overcooked.
The place is decorated nicely

They did such an awesome job we came 2 nights in a row! The service was fantastic. And the chicken and waffles....I had them twice lol. Music was great. Cas was our server...one of the best we have had the pleasure of having as our server. She deserves a raise. We are grateful for finding this place

The Social is hands down the best dinner spot in Hayward. I had the sirloin steak with chimichurri sauce—absolutely outstanding. My wife had the halibut special, perfectly prepared and served with creamy polenta. The chicken and waffles were huge, and our 11-year-old raved about the waffles, especially with the hot honey drizzle. The pasta with shrimp and wine sauce was beautifully balanced—my daughter said it was excellent.

Overall, an outstanding dining experience with great food and live music. A true gem in Hayward. We’ll definitely be back regularly!

Poor service, usually they have great service. The normal waitress we get wasn't there so maybe it was an anomaly. But everyone there today was just not good at what they were doing. Hoping it's a one time thing but bad enough I have to review.

We stopped in on a whim after hiking nearby and were so glad we did! My husband loves chicken & waffles and thoroughly enjoyed his meal because of the unique sauce on the chicken and slightly sweet crunch of the waffle. The Social Salad that I had was also delicious (fresh, with a great greens mix and dressing), as were the pretzel bites we had as an appetizer. The service was solid, and we appreciated sitting on their cute back patio with our dog (they even provided a bowl of water for her!). We’ll be back the next time we’re in the area!

We were walking by and decided to stop here and eat..my friend has alot of dietary restrictions and she is always nervous to tell wait staff that. We asked the waitress if they could cook food a certain way and they had no problem with it and were so so so nice to my friend about it and did not act like it was an inconvenience at all! She was so happy it literally made her tear up that she could enjoy food with us at a restauraunt. The waitress and cook were absolutely amazing! Food was delicious! Highly recommend the cheese curds, loaded tots and Gnocchi!!

Food was excellent. Service was wonderful. Patio was perfect. We were able to bring our little dog with too on the patio which was nice! The ability to get multiple NA drinks was such a nice change and my drink was delicious. Each one of us (adults and kids) loved our meals and I especially loved the chicken and waffles! Best I have ever had, not too sweet and perfect amount of savory. Will definitely come again next time we are in Hayward.

Not very accommodating to our group of 8. Wouldn't allow us to use another table even though they weren't very busy and many tables were empty. My chicken was way over fried, but others enjoyed some of the food.

Fantastic new restaurant on Main Street in Hayward!

Everything we ordered — cheese curds, loaded tots, chicken and waffles, meatballs, smash burger, and homemade pasta — was outstanding. The service was attentive and vibes overall were on point. They even have one of those old school arcade machines where you drop quarters down a chute to try to knock more quarters into a hopper … and thus continue the circle of life. I may have triggered the machine’s warning alarm by jostling it, for which I am very sorry. 10/10 will return.

Monica & Bill are doing a fantastic job along with their great employees! My husband and I have a business down the street and are so fortunate enough to have their clientele collaborate so well with ours. Upscale environment, kid friendly with the game room and so what Main Street needs. There is so much hard work that goes into making a place like this happen and I applaud them on their vision to making the downtown area a better place to be. We will always look forward to coming here whether date night or with our kids!

Honestly one of the worst experiences I have had in a long time. We came with two children and were waiting for a low table in the dining room which the manager said she would seat us at when it was free. We asked if we could wait where they had couches and she said it was no problem. A waitress came over and assumed we were dining on the couches but with two small children plus needing a high chair we told her we were waiting for a table. She then proceeds to take us to a high top table as the manager had seated someone else at the low top table. So while one child could sit in the chair a high chair was now out of the question. We then waited for over 15 minutes and then had to ask at the bar for someone to come over to us. We got a waitress who we put our order into right away. We ordered a grilled cheese off the kids menu for our child, my husband ordered the beef sandwich, and I ordered the chicken and waffles. We also ordered an appetizer that clearly required utensils. Our sever dropped off the appetizer and I asked for plates and she brought back the plates but no silverware so we had to ask for that.

The real kicker is that my husband and child received their food and they told me that mine was given to another table. The manager apologized and said they were going to re-fire mine right away. I said it was not a problem and that I would wait. My son and husband finished their food and the waitress asked if we wanted the bill about 25 minutes later. I politely inquired about mine and she said she was told I didn't want it. The manager then came over and said she took my response as I didn't want it? Which makes no sense as I never said I didn't want it I just didn't get upset with them as I have worked in restaurants and know that accidents happen. However the fact that she told me that they were re-firing it and I said ok no problem she someone took that as I don't want my food? Why would I be in the restaurant and have ordered food if I didn't want it. The sheer lack of common sense or clarifying a point is truly surprising for someone in a "management" position.

Overall, the place is beautiful. I was hoping to try the food but was denied the chance too. This restaurant while having a kids menu is not actually very kid friendly but the largest problem was the complete lack of communication from the quote on quote manager who clearly seemed to have no actual idea on what she was doing or how to handle customers. Maybe if I had been rude or angry I would have at least received some food with my family. Just disappointing for a place that looked so promising. I am hoping my experience is a one off and hope that if the owner or management reviews comments or reviews that they take the opportunity to train their staff on setting clear expectations with their clients. Sadly I would not return and will advise others to stay away as well.

Social is definitely the term for this place. And I’m talking about the staff with one another and not so much their guests. Among the unsocilaized population, in this case guests, were a pair of neglected and unserved patrons/‘waiters’: ‘waiters’ as in everyone in the joint was waiting. The duo walked after 20 minutes of malservice. We watched on, as did the unremorsed owner.

To accompany our wait, our five-top was gifted a forgetful kitchen and a delicious glass of everyone’s-but-your-own and finger-dipped water. A special of the waitstaff.

No communication to share the excitement of delayed meals, and disproportionate salads; led one to wonder if the taxidermy zebra was warmer than the copy and paste leader of this socially awkward dining experience.

Probably one of my new favorite restaurants! The food was some of the best we've had in Hayward and it looks like a super fun hang out! Very casual, half of it for dining and the other half looks fun to have drinks and apps while playing some games or chatting with friends. Patio looks absolutely gorgeous, I wish I had an event to plan so I could have it here. We also brought our kids so also family friendly. Very friendly owners too. Can't wait to come back!

We got the smash burger and the fried chicken and waffles, they both blew us away. It was all so fresh and delicious, by far our favorite meal in Hayward.

I've been eating in the Hayward area for 15 years. We ate here 6 days after their opening and it legitimately was the best meal I've had in the area at any price point. Order the Chicken and Waffles without question. You will not regret it.
Not to mention the renovation they did to the inside. Its now a family friendly environment with the perfect combination of high end dining mixed with casual. The owners personally introduced themselves and gave a tour of the building. You can tell they care about every detail.
Will return many times
