The best hotel I've stayed at for work. I was here once in February of 23, got there about 1am and was on the road at 7am. The parking lot had room for my freightliner, the interior was great, the room I had was clean, bed was comfy and the night shift front desk was nice. If I'm ever in the area again for work I'm going to stay here.

Overall, our stay at the Waters of Minocqua was enjoyable. The beds are extremely comfortable for hotel beds and the room was well equipped and clean. Our room (311) needs some decorations to spruce it up. It was very plain and boring. Some pictures on the wall would be a great addition. The TV has tons of channels and streaming options. Too bad it was extremely difficult and awkward to operate. Finally, they should add Coke products to the options in the little snack room. Pepsi is vile.

We have stayed at The Waters for years. My husband and I come up to enjoy fall colors and hiking. The updated rooms are very nice and comfortable. The hotel was clean and the breakfast was good.
I always enjoy the hot tub as well.
We will continue to stay here when coming to the Northwoods.

Rooms are overpriced, fairly dark ,recent renovations were completed but didn't add much really, numerous games in the arcade are out of order, the breakfast didn't have much variety , the Waterpark is ok, staff is wonderful, the balcony was full of spider webs and the screen door was hard to close

We stayed in a Two Queen Suite Room on the 3rd floor. Beautiful room with vaulted ceilings! Very clean, comfortable, and quiet. Breakfast was fine, but no hot food. Did not use the pool area but it looked like a nice hot tub and water slide for kids. Will definitely stay here again!

Beautiful lobby and rooms! The indoor and outdoor pool and hottub are great! There are even watersides for children/adults, 48in and taller. There's a small child area with a slide. They even provide their own balls and blow up pool toys for guests. The arcade was great, as well. There was continental breakfast, also. We will definitely return! *Just returned for our 2nd time! Another wonderful stay! 🌲😎🌊🌞 Perfect Northwoods Vacation Stay!

The Waters of Minocqua was a great place to stay. The room we had was very clean. The bed was super comfortable, one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on at a hotel. It looked like the room had been recently remodeled. There was a balcony with 2 chairs that was a relaxing place to unwind. The tv in the room was huge. No complaints whatsoever about the room. Roxanne at the front desk was very nice and helpful. The continental breakfast was included and was pretty typical of hotel breakfasts. We didn’t use the pool or water park but if you had kids they would love it. There’s also an arcade that kids would enjoy. If we ever get back to Minocqua we will definitely return.

Totally had a great time staying at The Waters! Rooms were fresh and inviting. Easy access to the property. The Pub had wonderful food. Very nice to see that they also staffed the water pool/slides with a lifeguard. BRAVO!
The rooms also had a hide away couch in the rooms if needed.

We had a blast hanging out at the waterpark. Our kids weren’t into the slides as much as the pool, kids area and hot tub. Our kids didn’t like that the slides were so dark that you can’t see while inside them. The arcade area was an unpleasant experience. The games were expensive and you don’t collect much for tickets. Quite a few games that you collect tickets on were out and you don’t collect tickets on all the games. We had issues trying to redeem the tickets at the prize machine. Our room was spacious, clean and well maintained. The porch area was very relaxing and peaceful. The continental breakfast had a waffle maker, bread options to toast, cereal, donuts, boiled eggs, yogurt, apples and oranges, with juices and teas. Overall we had a pleasant experience.

We were disappointed that on our first day, the pool was full of boys that paid to come for the day leaving no room for the girls to swim in. Secondly the last day the water slides didn’t open until 11:00 which was checkout time leaving us no option to use them.

We recently stayed at The Waters of Minocqua and were so impressed that we can’t wait to come back! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with professional, attentive service.

Upon arrival, there was a disgruntled gentleman experiencing bike trouble, and we were incredibly impressed with how the staff and security handled the situation with kindness and care.

Our room was spotless—honestly, one of the cleanest hotel rooms we’ve stayed in. We originally avoided booking a whirlpool room because they can sometimes feel less than clean, but after seeing the immaculate condition of our room, we’ll definitely be booking the whirlpool suite next time! The premium vinyl plank flooring that looked like hardwood was a beautiful touch and gave the room a fresh, updated feel.

We were traveling with part of our family and loved that our room had a connecting door—next time, we’ll be sure to request it to make staying together even easier. The rooms were spacious, the bedding was clean, and the beds were firm yet comfortable. We also appreciated the wet bar with refrigerator, and the little canteen near the check-in desk came in handy.

Our family loved the small water park, complete with a pool, hot tub, and kid area. There was a brief pool closure due to a maintenance concern, but we truly appreciated the lifeguard’s quick action and diligence—safety first! We had so much fun we didn't even make it to the arcade but it was clean and had a very nice variety of games for all ages.

The gift shop was another highlight, offering a great selection of items, including ***individual*** swim diapers and cute kids’ swimsuits. Such thoughtful touches really make a difference for families traveling with little ones.

Although the on-site restaurant was closed on Sunday, the front desk offered some local recommendations, and we discovered Era Pancakes & Café down the road—highly recommend it for an amazing breakfast or dinner!

Another memorable touch was the staff acknowledged my husband's military service when we booked under our military status. It was a kind courtesy to extend and notice.

Overall, The Waters of Minocqua exceeded our expectations in cleanliness, comfort, and hospitality. We left already planning our next stay—this time, in the whirlpool room!

Book a room on a Friday for Monday evening! They gave us the option of which floor to stay on since they had availability open! We chose same floor as the pool as we had smaller kids with us! Front desk lady was beyond nice! Went down for ice cream later in the night and chatted with her while we strolled through the gift shop!
Our room was absolutely gorgeous and clean! Just simple but still modern!
The waterpark was clean! We used the kids area the most! The life guard was super friendly!
Only thing I wish was a little better was the breakfast in the morning!

12/10 would stay again!
Already planning next summers trip!

I have stayed here nearly every month for about 7-8 years for business. This visit was ranked near the bottom of all visits.
The air conditioner was not working properly, it only blew fan, thank god it wasn’t that hot.
I stayed here 4 nights, after night one, I asked the service desk for a “do not disturb” hang tag so the cleaning crew would not come in. I was told at the desk that cleaning would not come in at all during the visit. I came back after my day and cleaning had come in. They only left a couple of towels and emptied garbage, but I had my service dog with me on this trip and luckily I took her with me for my errand.
My biggest upset is the dog fee. I usually only stay one night each month as I work the area. It was 25.00 fee, it went up to 30.00, no big deal, I have no problem paying that, even though this is my service dog, and hotels don’t charge for service dogs, i understand the extra cleaning etc, and don’t usually identify her as my service dog, I don’t want to take advantage of the hotel. However, it is 30.00 PER NIGHT- so my dog fee for 4 nights was 120.00! Are you kidding me???? There is no way you can convince me that it takes 120.00 to clean that room, that has wood floors! You already have to wash the bedding between EVERY GUEST! The only other fabric are the curtains and couch. I highly doubt that they are taking the curtains down to clean after every dog or shampooing the couch after each dog. That would require a lot of rooms to be out of service for many days.
I find this “per day” charge to be totally taking advantage of the pet owner and disappointing.
Next time I come up here and have to stay for more than 1-2 days, I’ll choose another hotel up there that charges 70.00 per STAY. That’s still too high, but at least it’s not screwing your guests!

Thursday the 19th— Eating at the Pub
Had a great experience here! We came in with a big group, and everything went really smoothly. The food came out in a timely manner, which we really appreciated.

The Philly dip was delicious — the beef was tender, the cheese melted just right, and the au jus added so much flavor. The club wrap was also a hit — super fresh, with a great balance of turkey, bacon, and veggies. You could tell everything was made with care.

Our server, Sydney, was absolutely wonderful — friendly, attentive, and on top of everything from start to finish. It really made the meal that much better. We’ll definitely be back!

The Waters of Minocqua is one of those rare hotels that makes you feel like you're at a home away from home. It's extraordinarily well-kept, clean, and aesthetically pleasing. The staff are kind and attentive and it's clear they're doing their best to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The rooms are very clean and spacious, with plenty of amenities available.

The water park is always fun to visit, and there are trained lifeguards on duty to keep everything safe.

This place has been a staple of Minocqua for a long time, and I hope it continues to be. We look forward to staying whenever we visit family.

Highly recommend!

Room was very clean and comfy. Unfortunately the hot tub was shut down for maintenance. The continental breakfast was just straight carbs (waffles, donuts, cereal, muffins, bread), so I couldn’t even eat it with my gestational diabetes. Website said the water park was open, but we got to err and the hot tub and kiddy pool were closed. That was the main reason we chose this hotel. The bathroom door in my room had a broken lock, and the lock to the balcony door was broken also. Had to ask 3 times and wait 5 hours for clean sheets. The snack bar at the pool was closed all weekend. I have been here before and had a great experience, they have gone downhill really bad.

Charging adults $10 each for supervision of our kids is insane. Then other adults in there without any wrist bands. Pour business practice as thats just a money grab. THEN charge $10 per child for the slides that were open 20 min then close for employee breaks. So paid an extra $60 for each kid to go down the slide 2 times each. Along with hot tub being closed. Will not return

Recently stayed here for a business trip with my 2 dogs. Everyone was so welcoming (extra shoutout to Sophia at the front desk for answering a bunch of questions from me before my arrival!). They even accommodated a late checkout that worked with my work schedule! Didn't use the water park/pool/arcade, so I can't speak on those items. Included continental breakfast was pretty basic (waffles & bagels/toast were the only hot foods). Channel selection was great in the rooms. Overall, a great experience!

Trust the poor reviews. The pool/waterpark area needs some major remodeling and a good thorough cleaning. There was trash, hair, dirty band aids, and gum around the pools and hot tubs. Lifeguards complained to guests that they were “short staffed” so water slides weren’t up and running continuously. Snack bar wasn’t open and the doors say “no carry ins” so we had to leave the hotel to get food for our kids. The arcade was expensive and a good 50% of the games were out of order. Had dinner with the kids at the Pub inside the hotel which is extremely small. The bartender/server complained that another worker had called in and she had to come in on her day off to cover the shift. She messed up our food order, messed up another family’s order, and then took forever to get our to-go containers and cash us out. Overall, there were a lot of sketchy people at this place too. We over heard a couple yelling and swearing at each other in the lobby for over an hour and none of the hotel staff addressed the couple. Kids were running up and down the hallways until all hours and up at the crack of dawn running and knocking on doors. The sheets in the hotel room looked like they haven’t been cleaned. There were stains on the sheets and blankets. Trust the poor reviews and choose a different hotel.

The only service is at the front desk and the people there are so rude. There was not a smile at check in or out. At one point my friend who forgot her charger went down before me, we were going out for dinner. I went down & didn't see her so I asked if they sold chargers. The woman didn't even look up and said " you already asked me that". It was so rude. I saw my friend looking in the gift shop and said that must have been my friend. She didn't apologize, she didn't smile, nothing. Then I asked where in town we could find one. She suggested Dollar General which (she said) was 51 South or Walmart on 51 North. We went North because I wasn't sure Dollar General would sell chargers. As we drove North, we passed Dollar General. We had to question if she purposely gave us bad information. The hotel itself was fine but our room was near the maintenance room and we were woken up by the rattling and movement of things all night. The walls are paper thin. We were in town for a funeral. We weren't there for the pool, we didn't realize it was a water park. We booked in a hurry. For $200 it was sooooo not worth it. At all.

Finally stayed here after driving by dozens of times. I’ve been wanting to check out the water park to bring the kids here. I can say - I’m not impressed with this resort/hotel. Disappointed, actually. Check in was a ‘what is going on’ moment. The rooms were very spacious and looked really nice. Floors were a bit dirty and could use a good sweep. Then you realize it’s sooo noisy. The door doesn’t go to the floor so you hear everything. The walls are thin. The doors are thin. The amount of hallway noise 24/7 is insane. All you hear constantly is kids running and pounding on doors and it’s way louder than I’ve ever heard due to how thin the walls are. Good luck sleeping past 6:00am. Then comes the bed. The worst pillows and bed I’ve experienced in a long time. The bed is hard hard. The pillows are condensed but not soft or hard. Just this little square of solid. The ac/heat is the old fashioned wall unit with a dial. It’s impossible to get it dialed in on a decent temp and it’s loud. Good luck sleeping a total of more than 3 hours. Breakfast - they RAVED about the DELUXE continental breakfast while checking in. It was mediocre. Your typical thaw and serve hotel breakfast foods. Nothing tasty. The eating area is the lobby so as you’re trying to eat you’re getting blasted with cold air from the freezing temps outside even after you wander around trying to find a place to sit and eat. We didn’t check out the water park because we won’t be returning just based off of our room and overall experience.

The arcade has seen some upgrades since our visit a year ago, which my kids loved, along with the waterpark.

I always inspect my rooms thoroughly for bugs and the first bed had a small amount of hairs on top sheet and on mattress pad with dirt. The second bed was the same but not quite as bad. I was traveling with my 3 and 7 year old children. I usually move things and pillows so my youngest doesn’t roll off the high beds. I slid the middle table between the two beds out and found chip crumbs , dirt, a lego, and a large amount of built up hair for something as easy to sweep as laminate flooring….

I was very taken aback because if we can’t keep something as easy and simple as a floor clean…. Made me wonder if they clean anything else like they should.

The waterpark was great and clean and tidy, very high chlorine levels but that is to be expected. Make sure you bring moisturizer if your littles have sensitive skin. The small foam pad they always had at the bottom of the kiddie slide was gone lending the littles to slide down right on the concrete. In years past the padding was also present. That should be repaired or replaced.

The snack bar was closed on a Thursday evening during Christmas break which was disappointing. However the pub offered a great cheese pizza, salad, and curds! She was awesome!

The game room was highly disappointing. I have boys so of course we had to stop. Ski ball, basketball, air hockey, the jeep ride, and several other machines were out of service. Could be a fun little spot. Extremely overpriced for the prizes offered but that is to be expected. I wouldn’t be worried about the price if the games were all working.

Continental breakfast is minimal. Cereal, yogurt, breads, hard boiled eggs, waffles, and processed mini donuts and mini muffins with apple or cranberry juice.

Overall 3 stars. Nothing special or out of the ordinary. The facilities can remain functional because there is no competition in the Northwoods, but will need to step up their service, cleanliness, and modernization if they want to remain in business for another 20 years.

Had a pretty good experience here until 7:15 am. When someone barged into my room luckily the security latch was closed. I assumed it was the cleaning staff. When I told them at check out they could careless. If it wasn't the cleaning staff someone had a key card for that room and they should check security footage. But they don't care. Not sure how safe this place is.

Great location. Only stayed one night for a quick visit to the area. Did not use water park facilities. Really like the reception area with the huge fireplace for an early morning coffee hangout. Looks like a big project to renovate rooms is underway. We stayed in one that was recently redone and it was very nice. Clean and comfortable. Only complaint is the old school push-button wall heating/cooling unit did not work very well. Any combination of settings for heat produced full-on blast furnace output. Had to manually shut off and back on a couple times during the night. Overall, we like it and is our #1 option for short-stay when travelling in this area.

As a first time stay at The Waters of Minocqua, in Minocqua Wisconsin, the hotel was impressive as a family oriented property, and resonably priced for our November stay. In particular was The Waters Pub Restaurant and Lounge. The staff delivered a exceptional experience but a special mention is due for their 16 inch pizza! Our thin crust sausage included pressed fresh clove garlic as well as an Italian blend of seasonings added to the sauce. Delicious! The pizza also had a generous amount of a mozzarella and light cheddar mix, all baked to perfection. Bring your appetite to enjoy this and other menu selections!

Very disappointed. We reserved a room with a jacuzzi tub. Upon arrival we were told we were "upgraded" to a room with a fireplace. Unfortunately, the room did not have the jacuzzi. Loved our stay there, though there was one thing that was disappointing, the check-in time was 4:00pm. We had people traveling and would have really loved being able to get into our room by at least 2:00pm when asked for an early check-in I was told it was doubtful because you know this is the north woods. Ok whatever that means. Our room must actually been the last one cleaned because we weren't able to get in until exactly 4:00 pm. I was disappointed because you actually have less then 20 hours in your room, check out is 11:00am. We ordered pizza from the pub and it was really good and the price was very reasonable, the little water park was nice as well. We would stay there again, just know that it's definitely going to be a late check-in.

The first room we had was beautiful and felt great to be in, but when we had to extend our stay for a night, we needed to move rooms. Which was understandable, because it was last minute and the room we were currently in had already been booked for that night. However, the room we got moved into was the most atrocious and disgusting room I’ve ever paid money to stay in. There was yellow gunk stuck to the walls, the carpet was stained and torn, it just felt so absolutely disgusting. I didn’t even let my kids take their shoes off on that carpet. It just had an awful stale, old smell and just gross.
The upper story rooms are not safe for smaller kids, the sliding doors to the balconies have the most useless, you don’t even have to turn it, you literally tap it up and can get out, there was nothing in the room to block the door from sliding. On the balcony, the railings do not connect and my kids are very thin, thankfully I kept my eyes peeled on them because my son could fit his entire body through the posts. Between this and no way to truly secure the door, so so dangerous for anyone traveling with kids. Demand a 1st story room at the very least. And the room they moved us into had a bedroom inside the hotel room, so the beds were not next to each other, leaving us to be separate from each other. My husband and I had to sleep apart so someone could be with each kid, god forbid they were to wake and get out on the balcony.

I read that the breakfast was “grab and go” but it was the most disappointing breakfast ever. Every day they had tiny donuts, bagels, yogurt, and cereal. And a waffle maker. I eventually found hard boiled eggs but just not a substantial breakfast at all. Prepare for that.
Finally, their website states they offer a military discount but will not give it to you.

The renovated rooms are gorgeous but do NOT rent a pre renovation room, or a 2nd/3rd story if you have kids.
I will not stay here again.

I was prepared to love The Waters after the recommendation of a friend and visiting the website. She said that my daughter who loves to swim would really enjoy it, and on the website it looks great. I was sorely disappointed. The term “resort” is just an excuse to charge higher fees. The hotel looked dingy, old, and rundown. It smelled bad upon entering, I’m guessing because dogs are allowed. It is in dire need of updating and deep cleaning. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a sign apologizing for staffing shortages. Another sign informed us that there would be no housekeeping offered during our stay. There was a long wait to check in, as well. I was hoping that the “waterpark” would make up for some of this, but unfortunately it was even worse. There was no lighting to speak of in the pool area, so it was quite dark and somewhat depressing. It was actually brighter outside, where it was a cloudy day. There was a bad smell in the pool area which was not chlorine. The pool area also appeared dirty and rundown. I was honestly afraid that we might catch some kind of skin ailment from the pool. Most of the pools are 3’6” deep or less, which is great for little kids and non swimmers, but my daughter tired of it quickly since she couldn’t do much. We didn’t stay in the pool long, and headed up to our room when it was ready (4 pm check-in instead of the standard 3 pm). I was looking forward to our room, but I should’ve known better. We got a double queen fireplace suite, which was a nice size, but very beat up. The fireplace was nice but was on a short timer. Our second floor balcony overlooking the forest was a lovely view. The sofa was really bad—it had been re-covered, and was still threadbare and broken down. The beds were soft and comfortable—no complaints there. The bathroom fan came on with the light, and sounded like a jet engine, as did the air conditioner fan. The air conditioning was not working properly—we tried turning it down to 64 degrees, but it was hotter than 70 all night. The refrigerator door was difficult to open, as it was scraping the floor. The breakfast had a nice variety of items, but unfortunately they ran out of most of it before breakfast time was over. The guests were swarming like vultures, and the poor older woman trying to restock the food was getting run over. We had to take the food back to our room because there was no breakfast seating. The most irritating part of our stay, however, was our attempt to get a noon checkout time instead of 11:00 am. I asked at the front desk the night before, and was told I would have to come back in the morning to check. I stopped by the front desk again at breakfast, and the young lady said that she would have to find the head housekeeper to ask her. I didn’t hear anything, so I called the front desk (I had to use my cell phone, since there was no room phone), and when I finally got through to them, I was assured that we could check out at noon. I had just gotten out of the shower when someone knocked on the door. It was housekeeping asking if we were checking out. I explained that we had a noon checkout, which obviously had not been passed on. We had planned to stay and swim after checkout, but the pool was not worth the effort of having to change clothes and dry off in the restrooms before getting in the car. I definitely would not recommend The Waters, especially at the room rates that they charge.

We spent one night during "off season" on our way to Bayfield, WI. Upon arrival, it seemed that we had the wrong room [it had two queen beds, a tub/shower, and overall looked badly in need of a renovation]. The front desk person, Sherry, was very gracious and helpful and moved us to a different room that was fully renovated, had a jetted tub, and a very comfy bed. Every room seems to have a lovely private deck or patio and the entire place looks like a fun place for families! Everything was clean, parking was easy, and the grounds are spacious. A final shout-out to Sherry who was the sweetest front-desk person! The world needs more people like her.

The hotel is very inviting when you enter the lobby. Upon entering our room, we were greeted by torn carpet in front of the door, and an odor. Not sure if it was dog or what. Our room had 2 queen beds with a sofa sleeper- we opened that up to find a very worn thin mattress and broken springs. One of which fell out. The bed pillows were hard- we asked for more, but were told there were more in our room (there were none) and they were out of them. Behind the headboard of the bed we found socks from a previous occupant. It was obvious that space had not been checked or cleaned. Two of the 4 drawers could be opened but not closed. There was a mirror positioned behind the tv, that rendered it useless. The TV is one of the smallest we have encountered in hotels- our room had 2 queen beds, so it was not easy for everyone to watch. The hotel boasts having an arcade, when in fact it is nothing short of a rip off, Between the price of the games, and the few points you get, let alone the prizes- the number of tickets pales in comparison to what is paid out by the machines. The pool area is another thing. Upon entering there was a strong odor- we couldn't tell what it was (not chlorine). The facade around the pool is falling off. The nightly room rate pre AARP discount was $289- we paid $260 per night with that discount- we stayed 3 nights and wound up paying close to $800. The room, despite the time of year was overpriced given the overal condition of it. We make yearly trips to Minocqua- our girls weekend. Prior, we have always looked forward to staying at The Waters. We have made the decision to spend next year elsewhere. Some of the things we encountered at the hotel seem like nobody has been paying attention to the aging of this hotel- things not being painted, repaired, replaced., yet the price has been jacked up.

Nice cozy little room, little dated but served it's purpose while we were there. The main focus was the pools. Loved the indoor/ outdoor pool and hot tub. Kids loved the water slides. NOTE: slides are closed Monday and Tuesday. One if the lifeguards got a little whistle happy. One gripe I had, which seems unreasonable (but they did not enforce it) was the "no outside food or drink" signage. I get they are trying to capitalize off their food/drink stand but it's too common for people to travel with insulated cups/drinks. Overall a good experience.

This is our second year we have purchased pool passes for the day. They are very reasonably priced with a nice pool area (including indoor/ outdoor hot tub), a kiddie pool area, and some basketball nets & volleyball nets. Plenty of space for everyone and they have a towel service. The slides are only open on the weekends so we didn't get to use them but that's OK. They also have an arcade, gift shop, and restaurant. Booked 3 rooms for 3 nights for a family vacation. Rooms were dirty. Carpet was disgusting. Wouldn’t dare walk around barefoot! Sofa cushions were sticky and gross. Dresser drawers fell off the rails and 2 couldn’t even be opened. The dresser handles and the table were dirty and sticky. Bathroom shower curtain was so yellow and dirty it made the whole bathroom stink. Housekeeping brought a new shower curtain when we asked and it did help the smell some. But overall the room and bathroom were old, outdated, and if cleaned you couldn’t tell. Most games in the game room weren’t working and a lot of money was lost. We checked in Sunday and out Wednesday and when we made reservations, weren’t even told the waterpark slide didn’t open until Wednesdays! The whole reason for staying at a waterpark! Definitely will not stay there again!

We recently stayed at the Waters of Minocqua for five nights. Upon our arrival, we were told that the room type we requested was not available on an upper floor, which we had noted on our reservation request. The receptionist worked with us and we were upgraded to a much larger room, in fact, a two bedroom suite, for approximately $100 more for our entire five nights stay. The facilities are very clean. We brought our granddaughters to the waterpark for one night and they had a great time. Very kid friendly. I would definitely go back again. The hotel was also approximately 1 mile from the downtown area and there were two restaurants very nearby.
