I rarely write negative reviews, but this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. We ordered the tuna appetizer, ribeye, mashed potatoes, cocktails, and a Sauvignon Blanc. The tuna tasted so off that I actually told my husband I thought we might get sick from eating it, it tasted old. The ribeye was extremely disappointing and honestly one of the worst steaks I’ve ever had. Even the wine was poor, which is surprising given the setting.

If you’re staying in Kohler and want a truly great meal, skip this spot and head to Blackwolf Run instead. The food there is significantly better.

Re: Disappointing Experience

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with my recent dining experience at the Wisconsin Room. As a steak enthusiast, I had high expectations, but unfortunately, the evening fell short on multiple fronts.

During our visit, we ordered two different cuts of steak, both requested to be cooked medium. Regrettably, one arrived as medium well, while the other was served medium rare. The medium rare steak was particularly concerning, as it was unchewable, rendering it virtually inedible. Out of respect for our waitress, others dinning and to avoid an unpleasant discussion, we opted to take 2/3 of that steak home rather than raise our concerns at the table.

Additionally, the steak that was meant to be medium was disappointingly tough, leading to another unfinished plate. It is disheartening to find such inconsistency in steak preparation, especially in a restaurant that prides itself on its meat offerings and high ratings.

I also noticed that the steaks and side dishes were served in aluminum-looking bowls, which I found unusual for a top-level steakhouse setting. I am curious about the reasoning behind this choice of presentation.

On a positive note, the lobster bisque stood out as the highlight of the evening. However, a soup cannot compensate for the core offerings of a steakhouse.

The old fashioned was amazing.

The pork chop at the table seemed to be the
dinner to get and was highly recommended. It looked juicy and had excellent outer texture. (Chefs kiss)

The 85$ ribeye while cooked correctly was a very subpar cut of meat. At 85$ I was expecting a nice thick ribeye, but they serve like a thin hammered out Waffle House steak and eggs cut. There was also no crust, kind of just looked sous vide.

The serving dish it came in was also like a dog bowl, and trying to cut a steak out of that once you added your side dishes was troublesome.

The French onion soup and lobster bisque were very good, as were the bread rolls.

We had breakfast here. The eggs were not good, they were runny scrambled eggs. I couldn't even eat them, they were terrible. One friend had steak and eggs, steak she said was good, she also hated the eggs. The money bread was not great either. For the price it was not worth it for breakfast.

Loved the vibe of this restaurant but certainly wasn’t a 5 star experience. The very sweet waitress kept forgetting our drinks and generally took a while to get back to us. Our apps and mains were very good but we got a squash side that was really not good. It was a good experience but not an impressive one.

This was a very odd “modern take on a Wisconsin steakhouse”, apparently recently redoing their menu. Items come to the table completely plain, in industrial pans. Lack of flavor, color, and often cold or luke warm. Totally overpriced. Service was great.

Came for New Years brunch as part of our hotel package, celebrating our wedding anniversary. Restaurant was more than half empty and clearly understaffed for this type of day, with a hotel full of guests. We were seated right next to the host table and had to listen to them turn guest after guest away, which was. Very uncomfortable, especially with so many open tables around us. We had reservations at 10am, but many menu items were already out of availability, even the juice. We were served cold coffee, then asked for new cups and those too were cold. Just super off. Food was mediocre for the prices, nothing outstanding. We are not overly picky diners, but this experience fell way short for us. Its the Wisconsin Room at the American Club on New Years weekend and expectations are high.
Needed to do a lot better. 25%surcharge added to all meals, outside of the tip. Won't run back here anytime soon.

If I had a separate review for what the breakfast buffet used to be, it would be 5 stars.
This was our first time to the dinner menu.
Disappointed and overpriced.
Charging for table rolls, charging for soda refills, charging for the sauce that should come with an $80+ steak? That too! Even charging for any sides you want with that $80 steak. It literally comes to you room temp naked on a cold pan. I had to send my pork back because it was raw inside. It was finally hot when it came back, but everyone else with me was ready to leave by then.
I've been to many places that felt pricey but usually you get the quality you pay for, this dinner left me disappointed.
The friendliness of the service was fine though.

We were not checked on from setting the food down until we were done eating 20 minutes later. The lobster Mac was cold for $42 which is insane. Since we were not checked on we could have not have it heated up. The whipped potatoes and steak were very good.

I would like to start by saying the service was wonderful!

However, the food was borderline terrible and extremely overpriced for what we received.

Our appetizer (bone marrow) took over 40 minutes and it came out with only 1 half bone on a bed of salt that absorbed literally everything.

Our steak was overcooked and the sides were inedible.

The garnishes were afterthoughts that served no purpose to the dish. A complete let down.

Excellent meal. Mary was wonderful- warm and very knowledgeable. We especially loved the Hamachi crudo (with the caviar) and the Wisconsin Burrata but everything was delicious. Fantastic cocktails. All the fun of a super club with throughly modern and refined cuisine. So happy we were able to dine here.

We had a very odd experience eating breakfast here. I don’t know if the host was new but he seemed stressed and borderline rude. We put our name and number in and were never called. When we went to check on our status we were told our table was ready but we had not received a call or text. The couple after us had the exact same conversation with the host.
Host was turning over tables for the waitstaff too, not sure if they didn’t have a busser?
We were sat and given coffee and offered cream but then never received. We then had to ask 3 additional times to get cream for our coffee, even after we ordered food. It was dead silent in the restaurant as well, music would have done a lot to cheer up the experience.
Our server was nice but then we could hear her screaming in the kitchen.
Food was good but all in all the ambiance and service was very uncomfortable and lackluster. Not at all what I expected from such a nice hotel.

One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Couldn't even make it cheeseburger the right way. The general manager Hark was terrible. The server named Elizabeth was the highlight of the whole place. She should be running it. The food was a joke. I've never had French onion soup served cold. I'm not a complainer by nature and I could go on and on about all the things wrong with this place although I love playing golf out here I will never eat that place again. Wait a minute I didn't eat anyway. I finally left. Took 2 1/2 hours to eat

Service started out good. Once we received our breakfast didn't see our waitress until 20 minutes after. She forgot my sausage order but when I did request to another waitress to find my waitress I was done w my breakfast. Waitress left sausage order on bill, that I had to have a different waitress bring to me.
Asked other waitress to correct it. Didn't have anyone bring my corrected bill back, for atleast 10 minutes, so got fed up went to host station to ask for bill. They tracked down my waitress she brought bill to me. Gave her cash to pay for it, well let's just say I stood by the host station for a solid 10 minutes to get my change back and thats after I asked the host to find my waitress to get my change so I could leave. Very highly disappointed in Wisconsin Room service. I get better service in my nearby bar grills then a place that I paid $80 for a up scale restaurant breakfast.

We ate here as part of our getaway package. My wife and I both ordered the strip steak, I got the fingerling potatoes and she got the brussel sprouts. The steak was ok, nothing special especially for the price. The fingerling potatoes were excellent though. Drinks were ok, my wife liked her Bold Old Fashioned and I had the Wisconsin Apple Pie which was good but not worth the price. All in all it was decent but I don't think I would go back.

I have never written a review on anything but I’m very confused by the 5 star reviews. We went here for our anniversary dinner and got the risotto (if you can even call it that) and the gnocchi. The gnocchi had 0 flavor, I couldn’t even finish it. It was cold and mushy and $47!!! My husbands risotto was not risotto, it was undercooked rice with cold baby shrimp placed on top. Went to another Kohler restaurant near the shopping center and it was half the price and 100 times better. Don’t waste your time here! So disappointed ☹️

$25 a person for food, ok, fine. The food was good. $5 a person for a cup of coffee, ok, fine. Having to flag down the server when our cups were empty two different times? Not good. The place wasn't even that busy and for these prices we shouldn't have to flag down our server to get someone's cup refilled. Tainted the experience having to practically beg for refills.

Very disappointed with Easter brunch today. In the past I have always enjoyed their Sunday brunch, and the holiday ones especially. Today the $85 per person brunch was a huge disappointment. On the menu they said shrimp cocktail bar. The shrimp were tiny, slimy, and tasted fishy. We we’re expecting the peel and eat shrimp from past buffets. We had the last reservations at 1 PM. The cheese tray, fruit tray and smoked
salmon ( from what was left) looked sparse, and in disarray. Prime rib was excellent, only other entrée I tried was pork loin and that was dried out. The rest of the food items were fine. Employee service was excellent. That is why I gave it three stars instead of two. As I said to my husband this was a $39.95 brunch not $85.
