My sister lives in Iola and we went up to celebrate her birthday. My sister and her husband suggested the Thirsty Perch. What a treat of small town atmosphere. Super service and friendly conversation. Everyone knew each other. The place was packed. We went on a Saturday for dinner around 5. Got sat at a nice table right by the windows to overlook the lake. What a great experience. Food was delicious and company was delightful.

I had the best Prime Rib I have ever had! It was sooo tender and perfect with the horseradish I had with it. And the beer battered shrimp were the biggest I have ever eaten! Such a fantastic meal. Oh, and the fried onion rings as an appetizer were fantastic! Very crispy. Loved the whole meal!

We are from Milwaukee area and had the Thirsty Perch for the first time tonight and it was amazing!!
The beer battered haddock was so insanely crispy, well seasoned, and the fish was so juicy and flaky. Best fish fry we have had in many years!
The fries were so deliciously seasoned, crispy on the outside, and hot, fresh, and soft on the inside.
The coleslaw was simple but delicious. Creamy, tangy, and lightly seasoned.
Our waitress was super upbeat and took care of all of her customers so we'll!
HIGHLY recommend. Already texted the family about it. Will for sure be back!

Waitress was attentive but the kitchen staff did not have their timing right. Our son’s food came out first. Quesadilla. It was supposed to be cheese and it had chicken. Then my husband and I received our sides. Then my fish came out. Two other entrees took at least another 10 minutes plus the quesadilla to be made again. It was odd.

Old fashions are wonderful but the view was the best part of the evening. Loved seeing the mill pond and the muskrat swim around while we waited. Not sure we’d be back for another fish fry.

If your looking for a good fish fry look no further. We have been traveling around trying different fish Fry's throughout the area and most say this has been the best so far. The beer battered haddock had a lite breading and the flavor was awesome. The portion size is also really good, I ordered the 3 piece and could not finish it all. Everyone complimented how good the food was. We arrived around 5:30pm and was lucky enough to slip right into a table. The bar area is not the biggest so either plan on going early or waiting in the bar area. Overall they did a great job and we will definitely be back.

My husband came home tonight with their special which was prime rib sandwiches. It was the worse sandwich we have ever had. There was more fat than meat. The bottom was so soggy we couldn't pick it up. So we tried to cut it in half but because of all the fat we couldn't. Don't recommend this sandwich to anyone.

Fish was ok but over priced. Ordered to go and they ended up giving our food to someone else. We overheard them talking and saw the person come back with our food. They apologized to her and she got $43 worth of free food. They never let us know what happened or to let us know there would be a longer wait. My boyfriend tried to get the bartenders attention and they ignored us. I understand it was a busy friday night, but thats not how you treat customers. Will not be going back based on service alone.

I haven't had perch this good since the last time my grandmother pan fried it in bacon grease in her cast iron skillet! And the potato pancakes were delicious.

Will not be coming back again. After waiting 2 hours for our food, we got the wrong food, then had it taken away from us, then we all got our meal at different times. Then waitress even took away one of our plates before we were down (there was still food on it). Literally everyone who sat down after us had gotten there food and had it ate before we got ours (same orders). I feel bad, because the server did keep apologizing, but it's seriously some of the worst service, 2 hours for perch is ridiculous. In addition to the horrible service, food was mediocre, the cheese curds had no flavor, perch was pretty good, but the potato pancakes weren't even done and I was slightly concerned about eating them. Super disappointing because we used to like this place, hopefully they can get it back together.

Literally worst meal of my life. 12/21/19, steak and seafood special. I ordered the prime rib, ordered medium. Bread arrived prior, clearly microwaved as it was incredibly hard and impossible to chew. Prime rib arrived RARE and appeared like it was cut with a chainsaw. Sent it back to be cooked more. It appeared like they just threw it in the pot of au jus. Could barely cut the prime rib, much less chew it. However it tasted so bad, it wasn’t a concern. Consumed about two bites. Absolutely horrible dining experience.

The crust on the pizza was so thin you couldn't pick up a slice. Had to use fork and knife. Sat with my empty glass for 20 min and cash on the table waiting to be served. Berger was good.
