Great food! I had the shrimp jambalaya, which may be spicy for some. Salad was crisp. I had the banana cheesecake, because I had never heard of it. It was nothing to brag about. Was there with a group of 25. Two servers were very attentive and did a great job keeping water glasses filled and dirty dishes cleared.

I ordered the bison burger, it wasn't bad but it wasn't anything to write home about either. The cheese curds were light and crispy, the Chipotle raspberry sauce that came with it was surprisingly tasty. Salad bar offerings were good but we wished the rolls weren't left under a heat lamp, they were like hard rocks. Good lemonade and the dessert we shared was a delicious molten chocolate cake.
Our server was very nice and decently attentive despite how busy it suddenly shortly after we arrived.

We had a family gathering for Sunday brunch.There were about 16 of us and they were very accommodating, without being pushy. The food was buffet style with prime rib, BBQ ribs, fried chicken, fish, Belgian waffles, made to order omelettes, etc..oh yeah and let's not forget the bottomless mimosas. 10 out of 10.

Edit 9-21-25: I don’t know what happened. This place used to be heavenly for food. You have to really mess up food for me to hate it. This is undoubtedly the worst food I’ve ever eaten. The ribs were still raw, the potatoes were dry, Mac and cheese was doused in butter, cheese casserole was good though, vegetable medley was good, milk was expired as I saw some dairy floating in it. Waiter was a Nice to my parents. I’m in utter disbelief. What happened?? New chefs that are terrible? Food was bad this time. Will return for my birthday dinner and see how it goes. Will make sure to edit in December. Only reason why I’m giving the review a 2 star is the waiter and manager are nice.

We reserved one of the dining rooms for a party of 13. We were seated right away. We had two servers take our beverage orders as soon as our whole party was seated. We needed a little time to get our orders in. It was lunch. Half our party did salad/soup bar. Soup must be gotten from server rather than the salad bar A bit of a wait for the rest of our party who order sandwiches or entrees. Food was good, hot, tasty. Cost for lunch for good unless you choose higher priced full entrees such as steak, seafood. They did separate some of checks within our group, we were thankful for that convenience. Improved overall from our previous visits, will be back.

It's been awhile since we were at Thunder Bay. We'll be back real soon, because the service was great. I had the fish fry and loved it. It included their huge salad bar. It also came with a choice of baked potato, fries, or mashed. And I was able to get half baked, and half fried. Both were delicious. The old fashioned's were good too.

Had a great dinner a few nights ago. Came on a weekday evening and was not busy compared to weekend service. Salad bar was fresh and well taken care of. Server was attentive. We held a rehearsal reception at this location on August 8. The manager Jay moved us to a larger room to accommodate our growing guest list to a private room at no charge. Layla our waitress was phenomenal! She provided fast service, handled special requests, checked with us hosts regularly and staggered the food perfectly as we asked. We eat out quite a bit as we travel. Haven't been back here in ~7 years. One thing, it was quiet, no patrons. WOW what a surprise, worst food experience in a LONG time. My steak could have showed the left rear on a work horse. My dad's steak, a filet, was 1 3/4 x 1 3/4 by 3/4" tall. Lots of money for, over well done, crap! Mother's dish was shrimp and noodles, this 10" plate full of noodles had 5, five, small shrimp. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

For our Wedding anniversary, my wife and I chose Thunder Bay Grille for dinner after reading various Net reviews. Despite all these reviews, we were very disappointed with the whole experience.
Upon arrival, we ordered drinks, which took "for ever" to arrive. The appertiser that we ordered (calamari) when finally delivered to our table was found to be an experience in eating "rubber bands" as they were way over-cooked and tough.
Next came the salad bar. In general it was good apart from some of the broccolli being "aged" to the point of being yellow, while another piece had brown rot at the base of the stalk. Definitely NOT GOOD.
When the entrees arrived, my wife's oven baked fish was almost stone cold, while the sweet potato fries appeared to have been prepared last week as they were well over-cooked to the point of some being patially burnt. My entree was fine.
Then it came to paying the bill! Our waitress had been very slow throughout the meal, but to get the bill, we had to call upon the busboy to see if he could find her to get our bill. We waited almost 15 minutes, despite the busboy returning promptly to advise that he had passed the message. The restaurant was definitely not busy, but seemingly short handed.
We will definitely not be back for more substandard food and service.

Went there for a reservation at 7pm. We were stuck there until closes because service took forever. Got sat down, waited almost 30 min until asked what drinks, waited another 15 for said drinks, immediately put order in for food, waited for over an hour for food. I am writing to express my concern about an incident that occurred during my visit to your establishment on Sunday. I had hoped to enjoy the patio, but upon arrival, I encountered two large Rottweilers on the patio.

Not all customers are comfortable with pets, and having to dine in an environment where I feared for my safety was unacceptable. I inquired with an individual who appeared to be a manager about your pet policy, and she responded that it was "fine with her."

I believe that allowing such animals to freely roam in dining areas poses a significant risk to customer safety. It seems that the potential for someone to be bitten or seriously harmed is not being taken seriously. I urge you to reconsider your pet policy to prioritize the safety and comfort of all your patrons.

Great upscale experience! The restaurant was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The menu had many options available that were priced reasonably. We had the Friday Fish Fry. I attended the Mardi Gras buffet. It was subpar. There was not much to the buffet, at least not what was listed on the menu. The main problem was that the buffet was constantly either empty of items like the catfish, shrimp & and grits, and the corn bread. I arrived at 5:30 and the beignets were gone by 6:00 and never replenished. If you wanted frogs legs, you had to request them, which was not mentioned to us by the waitress it was the same for the desserts. If you didn't request the banana's fosted it was not offered. The food, as I mentioned, was favorable it was nicely spiced. The waitress was just ok, after she was paid the check she was never seen again. I did learn one thing from this buffet, and it's that I will never attend another. There was an individual moving from station sampling each and every dish, and they wonder why diseases spread so easily.

After a mishap with a reservation at a different restaurant, my husband and I decided to go to Thunder Bay, as it was on our way home. It was a Saturday night around 6:00, and there was surprisingly no wait. We were sat in a large room with only a couple other occupied tables, which was very nice to be able to have a conversation and hear one another. Shortly after being seated, our server, Shayna, welcomed us. From the moment she introduced herself, she was amazing. We ordered the crab cake appetizer, which was delicious. My husband ordered the prime rib, and I ordered the filet medallions. Shayna also brought us a HUGE basket of focaccia bread right out of the oven. Both of our mains were cooked to perfection. Unfortunately, with all of the wonderful food, we didn’t have room for dessert. It’ll definitely be something we plan for next time. It’s been YEARS since we had been to Thunder Bay, but we will be returning soon and hopefully request Shayna again. She was absolutely stellar. I don’t review places often, but the food was worth a few minutes of time, and I want to make sure the managers are aware of how wonderful Shayna was and that she truly took such amazing care of us!!

Recently, we had a business meeting at Thunder Bay Grille. The details were handled very professionally by the manager, Laura, and I was very impressed by the elegance of our room and the efficiency of our waiter, Willow, who arranged everything according to our specifications. He was attentive to our group so that we could have an efficient and comfortable meeting and a delicious lunch. Being multilingual, Willow was able to converse with several of the members who are from other countries such as Spain, France, Germany, and Italy. I highly recommend the facilities at Thunder Bay Grille for a comfortable business meeting. The service was amazing. In the future, I will plan on having our meetings again at Thunder Bay Grille.

I can only speak for the Sunday brunch experience. We were really excited to be able to go for a brunch since I usually work on Sundays. The brunch does not come with beverages, they are additional. The freshly made omelets were the star of the brunch. The food in the warmers were usually warm enough but there were several items that were cold by the time you got back to your table. The salad area was fantastic and the service was great and your table was cleaned off constantly. I would have to say the worst part about the whole experience was the bathrooms. They were terrible for a restaurant of that quality.You expect clean restrooms?Not only were they not clean they had two stalls out of order.

I couldn't give any stars for the food because we never got any. We were sat and waited 25 minutes for drinks. We were there to celebrate a birthday.

Our server was incredibly terrible. She brought us beer in a can like we were at a dive bar. For those prices, I'd expect the service to be on par with the fancy cost. She wasn't nice, or easy to talk to. Waiting that long for a drink was a sign that the rest of dinner would have been just as bad.

When we asked if we could just get the check for our drinks and leave, she said "Are you going to drink them?" Uh, what? We want to pay, we want to leave. The end. We won't be back.

Service needs to step up to the prices. You have a couple of amazing servers, you know who they are. Overhaul the front of house, and let me know when we can come back.

A must stop for the cheese curds. If there is one thing Wisconsin knows, it's the CHEESE. The Rib was amazing, but the Bison burger fell short. Even tho the burger was not all that great, the rest of the food made up for it. That's why I still gave it a 5⭐️ rating on the food.

Been there several times, recently. Always moderately busy, but almost never a wait.

Food always arrives hot and prepared as expected. They have never made a mistake on an order (that I can recall).

It is not "cheap" but that's a good thing. Portions are generous. Items are freshly cooked; not sitting and waiting.

Servers have been friendly, engaging, and almost always know the menu better than we do. No fault intended; sometimes people are in training, but still do a very good job of handling customers.

Service was great, but nothing was seasoned. Calamari, cheese curds, and fish & chips all tasted the exact same, incredibly bland. French onion soup was good, mashed potatoes were good, and shrimp was good. Salad bar was solid.

We were a large group gathering after a funeral. They had only one server to take care of about 25 people. So, service was glacial. I'm not impressed.

Peter was absolutely great with the service tonight! He checked in from time to time (and thankfully not mid bite like most servers do) and was super friendly! Also, the kitchen staff prepared everything perfectly! We will absolutely be back, and thank you for making our date night special!

If you are in the area Thunder Bay Grille is a must stop for lunch or dinner or even brunch on a Sunday. Service was amazing, and food options are plentiful.
