The employees don’t wear gloves prepping, cooking, or packing the food. I’ve seen it with my own eyes. The first time I walked out! My wife wanted to try their food so I decided to give it another go. Same experience, no gloves! Friends of mine have expressed the same experience. It’s a no for me.

Wow! We wanted custard after walking around Port Washington and google suggested Toucan.
I had an Almond Joy custard. Slivers of coconut, flakes of chocolate, roughly chopped almonds and vanilla custard. It was amazing! Will definitely stop by next time we are passing through.

Chicken schwarma pita sandwich was excellent! So glad I stopped. They have a front and side patio where you can order from a walk-up window outside, or you can sit inside at a booth where it's air-conditioned. The patio has several seating options including a bench swing and metal tables w umbrellas. The staff was calm and kind.

Took 32 minutes for a burger and cheese curds, and there were two other people in the restaurant. I waited at the front register for about 5 minutes before someone greeted me, even though I made eye contact with several employees. For a local family friendly place, definitely wasn’t a welcoming atmosphere. This is my first restaurant review, so I really don’t do this often but that wait, and poor service was deserving of a bad review.

Do NOT sleep on this place! We 100% underestimated it as a simple DQ-esque establishment - but it's better! Who would have thought we would get one of the best gyros of our life here! The chicken wings were so good, batter was seasoned and the chicken was flavorful. They were better than wings you get at Wing places (if ya know where I mean 😉). The burgers were good! The fries were delicious! If we are ever back in Port Washington, we will definitely be back to eat!

Walked, looked at menu and ordered. After they took my order they let me know they open at 11…it wasn’t even 1030 yet. Made my burger which was very good. Nice atmosphere, great deck, very clean. And accommodating for people like me that don’t read signs. I’ll be back!!

I haven’t left a bad review in years. I understand people have bad days, but this is was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever ahead at any restaurant. I stopped in with my family and we ordered a couple kids meals and ice creams. After 45 minutes of waiting we asked the cashier how long before our order would be ready. We were told it was coming out and would be ready within a couple minutes. They scolded my wife for asking. We waited another 20 minutes and were scolded by staff again when we asked about the order. We grabbed the food and left. We got home and realized the order was missing several items. We called and the person who answered said he put the order together and then hung up on us. Incredibly bad experience either way rude staff.

The mozzarella sticks lacked any flavor and the marinara sauce was served cold. My wife's burger didn't have any flavor but the fries were awesome. We learned that a large is enough for two people. My Gyro was the best I've had in a very long time. We were full so we didn't get to try the custard. We will return to try it at some point.

Excellent gluten free options including, fried chicken sandwich, French fries and falafel. Even their gyro meat is gluten free which is so rare! I had the gluten free crispy chicken wrap with garlic sauce which was excellent. My husband got the chicken shawarma which he didn’t like. He was thinking Greek grilled chicken. But I’d say it was very good shawarma just not a flavor he likes and ordered in error picturing something else. He said the pita was great though and wants to go back and order the right thing! We’ll be back with our kids in summer who will be big fans!

We were really surprised by Toucan Custard! We enjoyed a vanilla Oreo hot fudge concrete mixer, and a banana split. While we probably would take the pineapple out of the banana split, the custard in both was fantastic. We went in the middle of the day on a Saturday and it was pretty empty. The workers were helpful and kind, the selection is crazy, and the food was great. Why not stop by Toucan??

Ordered carry out and got the falafel balls, chicken shawarma on pita, and some vanilla custard.
This was my time having falafel and shawarma chicken, so take that into account with this review. I found the falafel kind of bland. I thought the beans or fried coating needed more seasoning and flavor. I was happy with the shawarma chicken. The seasoning was good and the portions were huge. In fact I wish there was less chicken and more of the vegetables and sauce. The custard was also good, but I was so full that I didn’t eat enough to give any useful feedback on it.
I was really impressed by the price for all of this food too (app, entre, desert). Definitely will be going back and trying some of the other things on their menu

fabulous! Great with gluten free for celiac. I had a gyro and fries, and tried one of my mom’s falafels. The meat (gyro, shawarma, burger) is gluten free. As well as falafel and fries if you ask for gf and ask them to use the dedicated fryer. They have gf wraps and buns. Other stuff might be. It was delicious and it was huge! Was two full meals for me. The Greek stuff seems authentic and the chef was careful with it - wash hands or glove change and they really seemed to know what they were doing. I had no issues and I’m sensitive. (My daughter had a non gf chicken wrap and it was huge!)
I wish I was closer so I could come frequently! But I will def be back! So good 🤤

Tried Toucan for the first time after learning they have a dedicated gluten free fryer (yay!). I ordered fries which were great, but didn't notice until reviewing my receipt that they charged and extra $2 for my fries to be made in that fryer. Having Celiac, Ive been to GF restaurants all over the US and this was a first for me. I understand charging extra for a GF bun because they're so much more expensive, but just to fry the same fries in a different fryer? Husband had a fish sandwich and said it was one of the best he's had (not GF). So food was good, just with they advertised the upcharge like they do with the GF buns.

So we tried this place, I can tell you Chocolate Chisel, the Ice Cream trailer down tonight are way better. I would drive Cedaeburg to the creamy pig before I will ever go back here. Dairy Queen would be a better choice. The banana split was so runny... all the ice cream was just soup. My wife had the banana split and I had the turtle sunday. Those were the most walnutie tasting peacans I ever had and the overload on chocolate vs carmel. You couldn't tastes any carmel. The banana split was so over powered by marshmallow she couldn't eat it. 22 dollars for those 2 items... skip this place go to sheboygan to cold stone or Cedaeburg to the creamy pig. The chocolate chisel is a better option, or even go to tellos and get the mecian fried ice cream. Culvers, mcdonalds dairy queen, all would be far better choices. Oh and did I mention the place smelled so bad of old fryer grease. The smell alone made me sick...almost left off that alone.

I really wanted to love this place. The atmosphere is awesome, I loved what they’ve done with the place & the employee who took my order was so nice. But the cost of the food was a bit much and the spicy chicken wrap I got was not that great. It wasn’t spicy in any way & was literally just big chunks of chicken wrapped in a tortilla with some lettuce sprinkled with garlic sauce. It was just kinda … blah … & after paying $20 for my one meal - I was pretty disappointed. I would still consider going back if I decide to visit PW again but definitely won’t be ordering the chicken wrap. I should add that the fries were amazingg though. It's the same people that had toucan in west bend. The food is mediocre at best the best part of the hamburger was the fresh roll the meat was kind of dry and grainy just like toucan in west bend used to be before it closed. The onion rings are the same old frozen bagged onion rings the old west bend store served. The best part of this place is the old time custard stand feel it has and the custard is pretty decent. We might stop for a cone if we're driving right past it but certainly won't go 2 steps out of our way to go there and wouldn't consider eating there again oh I forgot to mention that they only have Pepsi products so we both ordered ice tea but at 12:50 in the afternoon they ran out so had to settle for 1 ice tea and 1 water lol and it wasn't cheap 1 hamburger 1 gyro 1 order of onion rings 1 iced tea 1 water was over 20 bucks

My daughter and I had to see doctors at Froedtert in West Bend a few years ago. The best part of our trips ended up being when we found Toucan Food & Custard in neighboring Barton. Lots of food choices, all great. Mostly pick up orders but a few tables and chairs were inside and outside.

As we ventured back again and again, we would experiment and eat something different every time. Their menu was a Bible of delicacies.
FIRST, whatever you eat, YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE FRIES! You will never get to know a better crunchier, tastier French fry any where. Word is they throw just a little bit of crack in them that makes me feel a hankering for some more, more, more.

The creamy custard with a myriad of flavors and goodies thrown in, and the shakes, malts, sundaes and the biggest 1 scoop in a dish you've ever seen. Monster burgers and every other kind of sandwich, all outstanding. Then get adventurous and into some of their authentic Middle Eastern Shawarma sandwiches or a Greek Gyro.

So I just moved to Port Washington and 2 miracles in 1 lifetime? YES... Can it be? It is!

I didn't try any of the other food, but I had a scoop of chocolate custard. I'm a huge Leon's fan, and I have to say it was pretty spot on! My husband enjoyed their flavor of the day, Chocolate Thunder (which had pie crust bits and chocolate flakes) in a waffle cone. The service was fast and friendly, and I look forward to coming back to try a full meal!

If you are in the Port Washington area, do yourself a favor and stop by this place. The food is delicious. They have a pretty decent variety of choices, including shawarma and falafel.

The real draw here though is the custard. It’s smooth, creamy and delicious. They have daily flavors/specials that are always worth considering. A lot of the specials sauces are made in house and are phenomenal. Today’s orange and cranberry was a refreshing blend of sweet and tart.

Toucan's food is so delicious. I'm housebound and rely on delivery for nearly everything. Today I ordered chicken wings, plain, with sauces on the side. I never was able to taste the sauces because the wings were so perfectly seasoned that I forgot the sauces were even here. I ordered a hot dog with mustard and chopped onion for a young friend. He offered me a taste and it was tasty and juicy. Falafel was fresh and large, as it was on the falafel sandwich. So much delicious food and plenty left over for lunch for the next two days.
To find high quality Mid Eastern cuisine here is a pleasure.
I cannot attest to the atmosphere because I am housebound and rely on delivery for nearly everything.
The extensive menu looks to have something for everyone, especially with the quality of that simple hot dog.

Ordered a fish fry to go, noticed the cole slaw was missing, the owner grabbed another tater sauce, dropped it on the floor and threw it in the bag and handed it to me. I've picked up food a few times and I've had DoorDash deliver also. No problems when I picked up myself or when doordash delivered. In fact toucan is very conscientious about the orders received through DoorDash. An example was the last time I ordered through DoorDash I didn't complete the check boxes for malt. Toucan called within 2 minutes of receiving the order and filled in the missing information. I thought that was great!
I've had their shawarma wrap and I've had some burgers and I've had some fries. I also have had a gyro sandwich. All were exceptional! One thing I did notice and this is rather much not an issue, but they have a choice of Well done, medium rare, or as rare as you can make it. I did the choice of as rare as you can make it and at best it was medium. It was still a nice and juicy burger, and they are relatively thin larger patties so I can understand that. The only other thing I could complain about is the way that toucan has their DoorDash menu setup it is so confusing and convoluted that it just begs for the customer to make a mistake. Other than that they do a great job! Congratulations and welcome to Port Washington!

I'm not sure how they get so many good reviews - maybe our experience was a "bad hair" day.
Pros: The wait wasn't long - we were the only one placing the order. My daughter liked her salad. We didn't like shawarma, pita or gyro, but I wouldn't bother to write a review just because of that or because they were unfriendly or because their seasonal caramel apple cyder sundae didn't have any apple cyder in it.
Cons: I ordered a small " puppy chow" sundae. The lid wasn't well attached and the gentleman dropped the sundae on the counter while handing it to me. Maybe I'm wrong thinking they are supposed to make a new one in that situation. Nope. He tried to "fix" it in front of me, then took it where I couldn't see him and brought it back a minute later " fixed" with a new lid on. I live 2 minutes drive from them. When my daughter opened that sundae, it already looked melted and sloppy.
The cherry on top - that gentleman hissed at the girls making sundaes for not closing the lid properly right in front of me and then I saw one of the them pulling cash out of her wallet and going to the cashier. I'm totally speculating here, but it looked like he was paid twice for the same sundae. Shame.

As a business, you set yourself up for failure when you charge premium pricing. I dont mind paying more for great food, and we all know prices have increased everywhere. But when I pay $17 for a gyro and a shake, they better be amazing. Were the bad? No. Where they worth what I paid? I dont think so. The shake was great. The gyro was dry, and tasted like every other cheap takeout gyro, but I paid twice the price for it. Employees were friendly and the space is nice, but cant imagine going here with a family - might have to take out a loan before you go.

I was so excited to learn my favorite custard place hadn’t closed—only moved! Toucan has a large outdoor patio as well as indoor seating. The servings are large and as delicious as always. I had to take some home!

Stopped in today for some shakes and saw the sign for cod and perch. Of course I had to get some, and it was delicious (got the perch)! The shakes were awesome as well. Staff was friendly and delightful. So happy to have this restaurant in town!!

Honestly we went when it was busy, but there was a long wait and my cheeseburger was dry as a leather wallet. My daughter had a sloppy Joe and that was dry as the Sahara as well. We really enjoy their custard which is why it’s even getting a 3 star. I would recommend the custard, but eat a meal somewhere else.

It was a family (3people total) running it on a busy first day out of school. After standing in line and placing a small order of two burgers and fries with two small lemonades we waited an almost hour for our food. They were missing a small lemonade which we should have had while waiting anyway. She asked if I had my receipt to see if we paid for it! it was outside in my purse so I said no. The lady wanted to charge me for it after taking time to look through the orders and find out for some reason her mom didn’t charge us for them, yet it was on the receipt. All this over a small lemonade while she already had a long line of people and no one doing her job while she was looking! Seems to me to make customers happy all around, she should have just given me a lemonade to bypass everyone’s wait time and make a customer happy. We won’t be returning, the burgers weren’t even that good.

I have been to this establishment twice now. The first time it was packed. We waited roughly 30 minutes and then received our food and ice cream. My sandwich (Sloppy Joe) was all bun hardly any meat and not great. Fries were good. Banana Split was awesome. I went again today. We ordered two sandwiches and an ice cream treat for our daughter. After waiting 40 minutes (it was not that busy) I went in, asked about my order and got attitude and was told it was not made yet. Our food came out 10 minutes later. It was hot and fresh. Burgers were not bad but very similar to what you would get at the fair. Fries again were good. My wife asked for a drink refill after such a long wait and was denied. I am all for supporting local business and can sympathize if you are short on help but I think there is something to be said for any business having good customer service. This was not an experience I care to have again and will not be back.

Our favorite new place to eat in Port Washington. The gluten free bun is amazing! I love the California burger with cheese. You can't find it anywhere else! And, of course, they have custard that's the best I ever had, plus tons of other great food items.

I absolutely love Toucans there's just nothing bad to say at all! The family that runs it is just absolutely the most kind and caring people I've ever met, and the food? Are you kidding me 😩 to die for! I've never had a bad thing from here 😍💕 Also I absolutely love the new location, great view, I love the interior so much it's modern but also slightly rustic! I love it and both of the outdoor sitting areas are so cute 💕 Keep up the great work!

I am very disappointed that toucans moved. Ever since I was little I could walk to Toucans. They had the cool styled building, which next to the ice cream, was my favourite part. Now they moved to Port Washington, when they had lots of customers in Westbend, and moved into an ugly building. What a downgrade.

Loved going here when it was in westbend and was very excited to hear they were moving to Port Washington. The food here is good, quality is excellent. You can tell they care about what they do here. Always look forward to seeing what the flavor of the day is going to be. The only downside I have with this place is the inconsistent wait times. I get it that this place is not a fast food type restaurant which you can tell by the quality of food you receive, but when I've had to wait close to an hour multiple times for a normal sized order, its makes going here hard when there's other options avaiable with way less wait times. If that can be improved soon, it would make an already good experience great, and I would definitely come here more often than.
