We have been to Traviesos twice now and both times have been above and beyond! Food is some of the best in the area. This last time we tried the cod fish fry and it's definitely my new favorite! 10/10!

We celebrated my birthday on Saturday evening. We had a few delicious drinks before dinner. I would drive the 1 1/2 hours just for the appetizers- YUMMY! We had the Crab Cakes and the Beef Birria Egg Rolls. Highly recommend! I had the street corn risotto and added Scallops for my protein- SO good. Our server was very attentive and polite. The manager even stopped at our table to make sure we were having a great experience. I would highly recommend.

Arrived for the dinner menu only to be informed only brunch menu was available. Service was more than extremely slow. Staff was friendly but came across unprepared for the reserved guests. Staff spent a lot of time wandering in and out of the kitchen doors as if to possibly look busy or desperate for meals to be ready. The restaurant was not busy as we were the only guests. When meals were finally served, at least a hours wait after orders taken, we felt left overs from day’s prior most likely kept in forgotten containers were served. All proteins were difficult to chew and dry. Chicken, ground beef, shredded roast beef, and cold poached eggs served along with dry rounds of whatever the proteins were supposed to be served on. Parmesan wafers were definitely old & unable to bite into. Salads consisted of 3 whole romaine leaves with a lackluster dressing and very hard toasted bread chips. Nacho chips were extremely soggy/mush-like with a scant amount of dry protein topping and dry cheese. All meals lacked flavor and were of poor left over quality.
I will say, the restaurant was bright, tables were set with a fresh clean presentation and the restaurant served a good cup of coffee. All in all, disappointing meals were served for what was to celebrate a special occasion with family.
I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Worst . Must be fake reviews. Came on a Sunday afternoon. 12:30 - 2pm. We were the only table . Empty restaurant. Quickly realized why . The menu is very limited. The food prep took forever!!!!! Considering we were the only customers it was mind blowing slow . Super pathetic slow. I had the Cesar salad . It was five pieces of lettuce crossed in the middle . Crackers on the side . And some super hard Parmesan cakes that were like nylon dog chews . The rest of our group had all the different dishes and it was all slow and terrible . Worst meal I have ever had . This place takes the cake . Who likes this place ??????

We came here for our anniversary and couldn't have been happier. My craft cocktail was delicious as was the cheese puff appetizer. Hubby got the prime rib and it was actually cooked to the right medium rare temp. And his came with a potato almost the size of his head. I opted for the peach salad with chicken. Good spices on the chicken. And they gave us a blueberry dessert on the house. It was something different and glad we went.

Came here for a birthday dinner. We had never been to Travieso before, and, if I'm honest, our expectations were pretty mid.
I'm SO glad we went! Our expectations were so far past "exceeded" that I don't have words for it.
The atmosphere can't be beat. The bar area is somehow both sophisticated and comfortable at the same time. Meanwhile, the dining area is full of light and life.
The food was phenomenal, and came out much quicker than I would have thought (to be fair, we went during a pretty quiet time and that might have had something to do with that). Out of the things we had I think these are my top 3 must-try recommendations (I had to limit myself otherwise I'd list everything):
-Cheddar Biscuits
-Beef short rib with carrot risotto
-Guacamole (it comes with plantain chips and chicharrones instead of tortilla chips)
Most importantly, the staff was so unbelievably kind and helpful. Jairy at the bar and server Chris both turned a pretty good experience into a spectacular one.
This has immediately become a place that I am telling anyone who will listen to go check out.

I don’t understand why this place isn’t packed during every weekend brunch. I’ve been 5-6 times and have been thrilled with every experience. The food is inventive and always delicious. (The Carne Asada Chilaquiles Haystack, Black Bean Tostadas, and Hot Chicken Benedict are all winners). The service is friendly and courteous. The ambiance is light, bright, and inviting. Even the view is a plus, as you can people watch through the large corner windows. If you’re thinking about it, GO! You won’t be sorry.

Over priced for nothing spectacular. Basically we eaten dinner elsewhere and their deserts were not appealing, so we decided to head to Travieso to grab dessert especially since they offered Crem brele. The previous reviews said that this was served warm but ours obviously just was pulled out of the freezer. I feel like I could have similar results if I bought a store bought option and dined at home.

We went to Travieso Latin Fusion for a birthday celebration dinner tonight. We started with the Mischief Margarita and the monthly Community Cocktail. They were both SUBURB! We then had the chorizo stuffed mushrooms and the cheddar biscuits (which was technically a side dish but we ordered it as a starter). They were both very flavorful and exquisite! Then for our entrees we had the blackened salmon and the scallops. Both of these were excellent. The service was impeccable. Highly recommend!

This restaurant seems to be a secret gem in Waukesha for Sunday brunch! We took my 91 year-old mom there for her birthday and the place never filled up. Where is everybody? Every single item we ordered on the menu was exquisitely prepared and delicious! Gourmet food for very reasonable prices. Our servers were delightful and attentive. Being at the five points in downtown Waukesha makes it also an historic experience with bright large windows looking out at buildings of yesteryear. Decor is lovely while retaining a casual, comfortable ambiance. We highly recommend this place for brunch and also have loved it for dinner!

Bar service was great, server was great, place was cute. BUT I ordered the Butcher's cut of the day and was assured by the bartender that the butcher's cut features the steak itself and that there was no crust or sauce. This here is how it came out...I guess I should have asked the server how it was prepared before ordering. After being served I was told it was a red wine reduction of some sort but it was SO thick and heavy. I had them "clean it off" and re-sear it. The steak itself seemed of good quality so I'm unsure why they would mask it like that.

A very strong 4 stars! Nice and warm inside on a cold January night. It has improved since first opening up.
The food is interesting and tasty. Don't let the menu scare you if your more of a plain eater. They do have prime rib steak too. Latin American flare. It's a fine dining experience. So don't go if you are in a hurry and have a bus to catch!

The food itself was well made and the drinks weren’t watered down, but the wait for anything was pretty bad with it not being busy at all, and while we weren’t expecting a boat load of food the portion sizes were quite meager for the cost and the wait was so long that most of our food was cold. It’s not terrible but we won’t be coming back.

We waited over 15 minutes at the bar and we weren’t even greeted by the bartender. It was not busy, for a Friday night. Everyone had drinks besides us, I watched her refill another customers drink and never looked in our direction once. A different staff member greeted us and said the bartender would be with us shortly. We gave it another 5 minutes, watched her put bottles away, but never even said hi to us. We left and probably wouldn’t return if the food didn’t look so amazing. Would try dining still but you seriously need to retrain your bartender.

Our meal at Travieso was a disaster. The disorganization became mind boggling and incongruent with the attractive decor. We ordered drinks and a few minutes later ordered our appetizers and entrees. Then we waited and waited and waited. Finally after around 45 minutes, our Wedge Salads showed up. Mind you, the restaurant was half filled. The salads were huge but tasteless. It was crunchy iceberg lettuce with the blandest dressing I ever experienced. After four bites, our entrees showed up. We shoved the salads aside and dug into our cold and lukewarm entrees. No one could eat them, and I didn’t want to take the salad or my scampi home. They weren’t worth the trouble. We explained our woes to the manager who didn’t apologize or offer us any compensation. She didn’t give a rip. I don’t know much about downtime Waukesha, but if Travieso was in Bay View, it would be out of business by Christmas. If you want good Latin fusion cuisine, go to Antigua Latin in West Allis. The prices are cheaper and the owners care.

The sauce with the puffed cheese balls was the highlight of the meal. Nice place, service nothing special, food is different, mom had cod fish fry she said no flavor, the beef short rib was tender but alot of fat on it. Scallops were cooked perfectly but didn't pair well with chorizo sauce, to over powering.

Went here for brunch today with two other people. The French toast that was ordered came out extremely cold and the black bean tostada came out cold as well. Ordered a hard fried egg, and it came out runny the first two time. The waitress tried hard to rectify the experience, as the food took forever to come out, but the manager was extremely rude. There was no apology by her whatsoever, and usually in these situations, the manger tried to rectify the situation with us being there for over an hour and a half for brunch. French toast came out lukewarm the second time around, which I guess was hotter than the first. Eventually she gave us half off the tostada meal. The one of us whose meal was correct ha finished eating by the time the other two dishes came back out after having to remade. Never have I seen a manager act in this manner when dishes had to be sent back multiple times and she made no ever to make the situation right. Place was dead for brunch, and I can now understand why.

Fine Latin Dining.
Drinks are great. Recommend the anejo or extra anejo drinks if you like amber liquors. The margaritas are fantastic as well.
I recommend the dumplings (I forget the actual name) at $3 each, get 1 or 2 per person they are amazing.
All of our entrées were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. We had mole pork tenderloin, prime rib, chicken street corn risotto, Ceasar salad w shrimp. Flavor combinations are exciting but still have a familiar Latin feel.
Great restaurant for a date or nice dinner out.

Second time there. Food was outstanding for appetizers to salad to dinner (sea bass) to dessert. Excellent service too.
My only complaint is the white plastic bucket chairs. This is a world class fine dining restaurant but the chairs really cheapen the atmosphere and they’re uncomfortable. Big mismatch. I know it’s not the most important thing. But feedback is important for improvement.

Best *fancy* restaurant experience we have had. We chose to go a more expensive route, you could make $20-30 work. However, I definitely recommend spending $40-60 per person to experience everything there is to offer here. The food was flavorful and rich, the drinks were adequately strong and sweet, and everything was just presented so well!
The server had a great knowledge of the menu and was able to answer all our questions, the bar served us until our table was ready (we arrived 15 minutes before opening), and the atmosphere felt as if we could buy a drink, sit by the fire, and spend an evening soaking up the moment.
I honestly don’t have any complaints. We also got a desert, the tres leches trifle. Very delicious. I think the only thing to warn is if you are used to enormous portions and getting two meals for the price of one, this is not the place for you, unless you choose to save some for later.
But no, it was amazing, well worth the price. Something everyone within the budget of 40-60 dollars a person should aim to do while you’re in the Waukesha area.
We got a reservation at 5, so I cannot tell you what the walk in experience is like, but this is a restaurant you plan for. And plan for having a great meal, paired with a great atmosphere and drinking experience.

Should be ZERO stars. Absolutely horrible experience. Had a 6:30 reservation. Was seated at 6:30. Waited for 20 minutes for anyone to even get to the table. She came and took drink order after saying they didn't have various drinks/mixers/beers that were on menu. Then we got some sob story about the POS system being down at the bar. Now it's 7:30 and still no drinks and very little interaction with waitress Robin. We left. When entrees are $25-$50.00 per person this needs to be more professional. There are no excuses. People cannot spend their hard earned money on a place such as this. We walked over to People's Park and were seated right away with a drink in hand after 30 seconds and a fabulous meal and service by Jackie. Don't waste your time or money on this joke of a place!!

Tonight the POS was apparently down and/or the bar was completely in the weeds. Our server, who was fantastic, seemed a little frazzled, she took our drink and appetizer order and our drinks took 20+ minutes to arrive.
Our appetizers came out shortly after. The dumplings are a MUST HAVE and the octopus was more potato than octopus.
Our entrees came out at a reasonable time after our appetizers. The fried chicken was great and the surf & turf was also very good. We’ll give Travieso another try. Hopefully the POS is back online and we have the same server.

This was the worst experience my wife and I ever experienced. When we got there we were waiting to order drinks. And the bar tender kept walking by like I wasn't there. When she finally took my order it took her for ever to bring them. I asked her about the restaurant if you needed reservations. She told me no which was wrong you did need reservations. We ordered and ate at the bar which was fine. The hostes told us it was going to be full seating so better to eat at the bar. Thing is when we left walking past the restaurant there were a lot of tables open. We'll never go back and trust me I'll let people know why. I wasn't the only one that felt this way talking to people at the bar no one was pleased.

After being there an hour, and only getting one drink served and no order taken, we decided to pay our drink bill and leave. One person in our party asked for water no ice and the waitress slammed it down fairly harshly. We were sympathetic because she was the only waitress in the dining room but an hour with no order taken was ridiculous. We wanted to love this place but we were sorely disappointed. 2 times here. First time we went for a birthday with a group of friends. Food was decent, but way overpriced. The big issue was the service. Extremely slow. The forgot one of our party’s entrees (after waiting an hour for our food) and then had the audacity to blame us. “Well someone must have eaten it.” Seriously. Had to complain to the manager after the kitchen refused to make another. Well, we gave them the benefit of the doubt since this was a newer restaurant at the time. Decided to go back for brunch to give them another chance. The food was bland and the service was even slower this time. And SOO expensive. After waiting near and hour for the food (2 other tables at the time) and almost $200 for 4 of us, I said to myself “never again”. Do yourself a favor and save your time and your money.

Let me start off with that we really wanted to love this restaurant because we live near by & usually LOVE Latin food...but my husband & I discussed it afterwards and the quality just doesn't justify the price at all. He ordered the Million Dollar Prime Rib (12oz) & I ordered the Chicken Street Corn Risotto (after the waitress said it sold well & was VERY good). We also started with 4 Beef Birria Masa Azul Chochoyotes because they were labeled as some sort of award winner. For $3 a pop, the beef birria dumplings were sad & not even hot - I'd say barely warm. The first one was rock hard & I felt like I was chewing a thick, burnt tortilla. Thankfully the other 3 were soft (seemed like the first 1 got fried twice maybe?!), but still lacked flavor & to me just reminded me of frozen pizza rolls. They were also TINY for $3 each. Like 2 inches long each? $12 for 4 bites basically lol. To be fair, the coleslaw & pickled onions they paired with it were really good. When it came to the entrees it was a similar deal - the food came out pretty quickly but again, not hot? I'm not sure how that's possible. My husband's prime rib was good & the au jus was intriguing, but the only side that came with the $40 prime rib was a small spiralled, COLD, fried potato. I don't think either of us have ever had a steak of that price not come with a side of veggies along with a hefty hot potato or something (think Palmer's Steakhouse in Hartland). My Chicken Street Corn Risotto *looked* pretty, but was pretty darn tasteless aside from the two sauces whipped over it. I was very disappointed because usually any risotto dish is to die for (in my experience lol). Risotto generally maintains heat well so I was surprised when both it & the chicken breast were barely warm. The chicken itself didn't have flavor & wasn't much of a portion. I don't eat THAT much ya'll, and I was still begging for bites from my husband's prime rib lol.

I have Celiac and need to eat gluten free food. There are a ton of options in the menu and the staff seemed to really understand cross contamination. My friend and I stopped in to eat at the bar with no wait or issue. I would absolutely come here again.

Made a reservation for Saturday night. The hostess was absolutely wonderful and the stand out star of the night. Our waitress was sweet but only checked the table once to see if the food was good after not delivering it herself. The espresso martini tasted like I was eating ground up coffee beans, I couldn’t even finish it. It ended up separating before the entrees came out and made it look like oil and water. The other drinks on the menu looked amazing so next time I would stick to the margaritas or mules. I ordered two appetizers- the octopus and the street corn. The octopus was warm and the corn was cold, I think the dishes would’ve been better if that was flipped. The octopus was a little chewy and was drowned out amongst the spices. It almost tasted muddy which ruined the dish for me. It was over powered by over seasoning which made the dish lose any sort of coherent flavor. The corn was average but beautifully presented. For entrees I ordered the skirt steak and the scallops. The steak was served standard medium rare yet it was more medium well done. I found the steak to be incredibly chewy and tough but the potatoes and green beans were okay. The scallops were served over braised pork belly accompanied by pickled onions, carrots and what tasted like kimchi. It felt like Mexico met Asian fusion and not in a good way. The scallops themselves were well cooked just over seasoned and slightly too salty. The entire entree felt like it was too much- the pork kimchi and vegetables on their own would’ve been amazing but adding the scallops and aioli turned it into a mess of flavors that contradicted themselves. The brussel sprouts served with the dish were charred to a point of what I would call burnt. I was unable to chew or swallow them. I didn’t try any dessert however the table next to me was enjoying a Brazilian cheesecake. Overall the ambiance and service was good but the food didn’t hit its mark for me. I think I’ll give Travieso another chance later this year before I make my final judgement but for now everything about it falls just about average for me.

Ate here a few weeks ago, a Saturday night for dinner, sort of busy. Got seated right away. Ordered drinks, few minutes later ordered food (4 small plates and an entree to share). ALL of our food came out ten minutes after we ordered, all the plates were super HOT but the food was only warm. Drinks came out *after* the food did. Food was just okay, brussel sprouts were practically raw in the dish, corn risotto was rather bland if not for the decorative sauces drizzled on top. For the price we paid compared to the quality of the experience and the food itself, probably won't return.

The duck hash for brunch is definitely a must try. I haven't had anything I didn't like yet! They have an awesome selection of NA things which is always nice.

If this was out of the food truck it would have been fine. Overall, the food was really bland, risotto tasted like overcooked minute rice, Brussel sprouts were not cooked all the way through, and the only thing with good flavor were the sauces. For the price point ($96 for 2 cocktails, 3 sharables, and chicken street corn risotto) we were really disappointed in the quality of food. After leaving we went to another restaurant to feel satisfied. The lights were flickering and the ambiance was alright. Felt like an off brand ikea cafeteria with a "Latin flare". Would not eat there again.

We met Martin, the chef and owner, when he won at Dumpling Fest. His dish was very good and fantastically interesting, and we were intrigued to learn he had just opened Travieso in Waukesha where we live. Our first dinner was tonight and we will be back. The menus, both food and drink, are very diverse, imaginative, and creative. Martin blends regions and styles in creative ways but without feeling forced or jarring. Can't say enough about it!
UPDATE Brunch 9-30-23, first time for this service and it was awesome, very highly recommended.

Had 7 sharable plates and split 3 entrees with my group. Everything was really good. It was a week night and it was weird we were the only people in the dining room. The lights kept flickering which was a little odd. The food was so good I would go back. The decor and atmosphere could be better, but I guess it let the food speak for itself.

What a delightful little gem! The menu embraces the fusion aspect, providing a lot of variety within the Latin cuisine theme. Everything was tasty, from the mezcal-and-tajin-enhanced margarita to the award-winning dumpling that left my dining partner a little bit speechless. Great service. Fun decor and music. It's fantastic to have a new "nice" restaurant in downtown Waukesha!
(We can't wait for them to start offering brunch!)

Have not eaten here. But we tried for several weeks to get more information for a potential wedding in 2024. Unfortunately the contact person did not seem very interested in replying back. Too bad, because it might have been a perfect fit.
We ended up finding another venue they er are happy with.

Food was amazing, best we have had in a while. Chef Martin came out and spoke to us after dinner! You could see how proud and happy he was about his restaurant and food. Even gave us little hints on how to recreate his mufungo. Can’t wait to go back.

First time here and I will be back. From the beautiful and tasty drinks at the bar, to the friendly banter and guidance of our server, to the other team members walking around and assisting, this was a great experience. Such a variety of food and every plate looked like a masterpiece. I appreciated our server bringing over small plates with the entrees that we ordered so we could all try each others' dishes. Really good food and can't wait to try more.

Amazing food!!! We were able to speak with the owner/chef, Martin, at closing time and his passion for food is obvious. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. Our server, Stacey, was also wonderful… not pushy at all, but always discreetly available and friendly.

I have never had such a wonderful meal before. Better than Chicago, NYC or Paris. The Latin Fusion food was outstanding. The many varied tastes were exploding in my mouth. I own a business in town and was so very pleased to have such expert chefs in town.
