So I called Oct 16,2025 at 12:15 to place my order over the phone so in order to place the order over the phone you had to give the game information which at first I was skeptical but did it anyways I asked for oxtail over my rice n cabbage she let me know they were out I said okay that’s fine can I get curry gravy over my rice instead she said that was fine the will text me once the order is done so I’m thinking well it shouldn’t be long because the just open right lol so I called at 1:42 just asking that they would text right she stated yes…so now here it is 3:19 I’m like let me call and see what’s going on its been 3 hours still no text so now my Coworker like what’s going on I’m like I’m about to just go up there in see I got there they weren’t busy at all I walk the lady at the counter attitude terrible I’m like I’m here pickin up a order whole time my food had been just sitting there they need issues me a text saying my food was ready like I was told get my food bag dripping of moist food cold so now I check it I had order two jerk fried chicken dinners both with rice n pea n cabbage one was suppose to have curry gravy on rice which j the pic you see it does and a side of shrimp curry I called back up there 6 more times they stopped answering

I spotted the Upper Yard food truck 1 block south of Mill Road on 76th Street after 2AM.
I usually don’t food truck but I always wondered about the Upper Yard fried chicken.
There were, for the most part, 3 men who were prepping, taking orders, etc.
They were gentlemen… what left me with the best impression of Upper Yard, though the chicken was moist, not dried out ( like the peas and rice)🍚… cabbage 🥬 was good. However what left a good “care about the customer” impression…
.in my order .. chicken was nice and hot.. but in my to go bag, were napkins.
They had the decency, dignity and dependability to include napkins.
See at the been around, drive thru, money getting all day, everybody knows your name franchises and look 👀 in your bag…

I ordered jerk chicken, curry chicken and jerk egg rolls! I’ll start by saying that the egg rolls were not fresh and tasted extremely old, cold and soggy. The curry chicken was sloppy like some boiled chicken. The jerk chicken was the only thing that actually tasted good.
I ordered online and it said my food would be ready in an hour. I got there five minutes early to wait and then I got a text that my food was ready. It actually wasn’t ready so I had to wait 20 more minutes after I told them my name and it said my order was ready.

I’m extremely irate by this whole experience and will never return to this establishment again. WARNING! if you order from here wait in your vehicle because it’s extremely boisterous, and they can’t even hear you when you order your food or pickup. Music played loud next door that’s connected to the restaurant and the atmosphere is very uneasy. I’m disappointed by the whole experience

Hi my fiancé literally just left the restaurant! He had to wait a hour and a half!! When his order popped up thru a text , he said something and the manager got an attitude! Furthermore no plantains were in the meal!!!!! We also have a tip beforehand! The rice is not cooked right! I have been going here for over 10 years and this is the first time this ever took place! I don't remember the young lady that worked the counter but she was really sweet, patient and helpful... It was my first visit and She made it very pleasant. The food was ok and I would definitely give it another visit. I can't say I was pleased with the atmosphere solely due to the music so LOUD that I couldn't hear myself think and I'm not exaggerating!!!... Overall I would definitely visit again. I ordered online so I just had a short wait time of maybe 5 minutes. While I’ve tried yall food from other people this was my 1st time actually ordering from them. I order my food online. They said it would be ready in 30 min. I showed up 35 min later. It still wasn't ready. Waited 10 min. Its still not ready and turns out they dont have any Curry. I wait 10 more min, they mixed up my order. Here I am, an hr after placing my order...still waiting on my food. So disappointed. I really want BLK businesses to win. But this is disheartening. Especially when I see the workers only socializing and showing eachother things on their phones instead of actively working to serve paying customers. The food used to save them but not anymore. Firstly, the estimated time that is given when you order online is almost never the time you actually get your food. Secondly, even after arriving and asking about your order you’re never given an accurate time on how much longer it’ll be. Most recently, I arrived and asked for my order and was told it was coming up. I waited 15 minutes and asked again only for them to ask me to clarify the sides I wanted. That question should have been asked when I first arrived or they could have called me before I arrived. Lastly, I finally get my food and MY ORDER IS NOT CORRECT. I asked for gungo peas and got red peas. I asked for plantain and got two sides of cabbage. If things were unavailable that should have been communicated promptly. This place has been in business too long for it to be consistently slow and messing up orders.

First and last time going to this restaurant I’ve been waiting to try this restaurant for seven years. Finally tried it. The eggrolls are so small and soggy when I got them. More wonton than ingredients on the inside. Ordered a veggie plate that only came with rice and cabbage for $11 and now I can’t get a hold of them to ask them if they’re going To fix their mistake. I placed an online order, but when I got there they were out of one of one of the dishes I ordered. The owner explained that they were so busy they weren't able to call me back, and he refunded the entire order(!), not just the item they were out of. He didn't have to do that, but it was much appreciated. The curry chicken was sooooooo good. Can't recommend this place enough, incredible food, good customer service, will definitely be going back.

This was my first time going to upper yard, my brother Daniel said that we should check it out since it was one of his normal spots to eat. I have to say the food was good, my only complaint was the mixed cabbage it lacked flavor and taste but, overall the food was good. My wife said honey this is a MAN'S MEAL 😂 . The portions are BIG, so you most definitely get your bang for your Buck but, overall it's a pretty good Jamaican food. May the Lord continue to bless your business upper Yard

The upper yard was definitely a favorite of mine. I got the oxtail dinner along with the jerk chicken. Everything was packed with flavor and had just the right amount of spice, which I absolutely love. You can't beat a little heat in your life. I also grabbed some desserts. The cheesecake topped with berries was a nice touch, and the key lime pie was spot on. I’ll definitely be heading back here. Everyone asked me, and I’d say it’s my top recommendation—make sure to get there early! I’ve only been once, but they really know how to draw a crowd.

Let me start by saying that i have eaten here too many times to count and there food is amazing and this review is strictly for a one time disappointment. I placed my order online and still had to wait about an hour plus to get my food which i dont mind because i know there's usually wait. The food is worth it so that also helps. The food is normally good, but it can take over an hour to get food, even if you order online the day before for the earlier pickup time. The staff are friendly, attractive and fun. They're attentive, quick and make it just like it was when I was in Jamaica. So SOOOOOOO flakey!!! Absolutely delicious. I will definitely be back. This was my first time trying this place and I must say that the food is really delicious but I’m extremely disappointed because I waited an entire hour for my food just to get home and my meal was missing an item. I tried calling the restaurant multiple times to see if I can come pick up the missing item and no one answered the phone. The only reason I am leaving this review is because I couldn’t reach anyone at the restaurant to help resolve my issue. Hopefully someone in management sees this because I spent $40 at the establishment and would hope to get everything I paid for. Super disappointed. Very,very,very good food! I’ve tried other Jamaican restaurants but here in my opinion is the best! I never seen it busy at the other popular Jamaican restaurant like I seen here, the wait was long but well worth it and I can’t wait to go again. I love this place! It’s about a 25-30 minute drive for me and wait time is a little long, but food is always hot and fresh! I wanted to give a shoutout to them though. I placed my normal order (ox tails n curry chicken) and then ordered an order of egg rolls and a beef patty cuz I was starving. Right before I got my order, I was told they were out of beef patties, but that I could get an order of egg rolls. I was okay with that. When I got to my car, I immediately opened my bag to eat an eggroll for the way home and noticed I had jerk chicken and oxtails along with one order of egg rolls. A little frustrated (from being hungry and waiting for a while) I went back in to get my other egg rolls and to get my currry chicken. There was a nice lady with long blonde hair who was super attentive and willing to get my order right. After looking at my receipt, it did say jerk and ox, but I’m 100% certain I didn’t order jerk chicken because I don’t really care for it unless it’s in an eggroll. (That was my fault for not looking at my receipt after ordering. )She was basically like no problem and was super cool about fixing my order. I was ready to be accused of being dishonest especially since I had already made it to my car, but was super grateful for how cool, calm and collected this lady was. I’m gonna be honest. The food was pretty good, BUT I waited an hour and 45 minutes for a small oxtail plate. Soooo many people were coming in and ordering and getting their food before me and lots of people were just getting their food before me period. They need to do better with prioritizing or putting a system in place because clearly they can’t handle as much service as they get. There’s absolutely no way I should have waited that long and been the only original customer that was in there when I first went and ordered. I ordered a drink at the bar and that was really good. That one drink had me feeling good. As far as the customer service I feel as though they prioritize certain people first based on knowing them which is ridiculous. I’m not even from Milwaukee I heard of the place and decided to drive and try it, but honestly don’t know if I’d be back. Definitely need more workers or have more food prepared because the wait is ridiculous.

First time coming here. Ordered ahead I get there and I'm told order is being plated. So I sit down and wait 30 mins go by so I go and check and they talking about they don't got some of this and I'd have to wait for that. Recommended I reorder or refund.

Won't be back. Wasted a hour of my time driving here, sitting there and gotta go order some where else.

Usually when coming into town, my dad always wants to come and get oxtails so that’s where we came not only was there an hour and 20 minute wait for the oxtails then I ordered fried chicken, red beans and rice and cabbage so of course we’re irritated because it took so long for the food people were coming and going not that I get home and my five piece fried chicken is sitting on my cabbage so I didn’t enjoy it because it was soggy and wet so I only ate red beans and rice tried calling today no answer. I just think it’s ridiculous. That people have to wait so long to get their food and then on top of that they get home and they got soggy wet chicken next time wrap the chicken up and some foil so that it’s not sitting in the cabbage and you guys need to change your oil because it taste like burnt grease thank you. Have a great day so glad I don’t live in Milwaukee anymore. My dad liked his oxtails so it was just my wet chicken.

Was told the Oxtail were great here. Found the service quality to be very slow. Much confusion after an hour waiting was told they didn't have beef patties. Should have gotten a complete refund and left. Not worth going back.

Waited almost 1 hour and 30 mins for food and our food only got made because the owner went in the back to see where our food was and they did not even start making it. it was disgusting no flavor the rice was hard and awful no Jamaican flavor. They used to be good until they got popular now their food is awful do not spend your money and the egg rolls were the nastiest I’ve ever tasted! I honestly want to give them zero stars!

I just ordered a side of rice and peas that I love and get often from this place to find my container with half the rice gone. I'm pissed. Usually, they fill the container, but today, it's barely full and looks like someone ate from it. Pissed!!!!!!!!!!!!

And to top that, my gravy has bones in it!!!!! Ugh!!!! I won't cancel them just yet, but dang, please do better.

I placed an order online for Brown stew chicken. Waited the 35 minutes and arrived to the restaurant. When I hot to the counter I was told they didn't have my order. I showed the order receipt and was told they were out of Brown stew chicken. No apology, no notification. They just tossed my order as if it didn't exist. I had to place a new order and put at the back of the line. The service here gets worse with every visit.

Ok, I have read the bad reviews from the others. I can honestly say, I didn’t experience anything that would have me give this place a bad review. Uppa Yard can get really busy, so I suggest if you’re getting takeout. Call ahead and that will save you a lot of time. There is a bar area, if you would like a few cocktails. Or you can just be seated, after you place your order in the dining area. Portion sizes are very generous.. highly recommend trying this place out.

Curry chicken- slight heat to this entree. Chicken very tender and the sauce is spot on. Definitely enjoyed this dish

Jerk Oxtail/jerk chicken combo- again portion size is huge. Everything was seasoned really good, just the right amount of heat

You have to experience this place 4 yourself. I waited for almost an hour for a veggie plate.

The food is not consistent. One day it’s spicy and other days it’s decent. I’m not going back because u have to stay in there longer then u have to. It shouldn’t take an hour to get food.
I want to come back and correct my review.. They food is very good. The best island food in Milwaukee.. I just wish you didn’t have to wait so long.

I think this community has given to much money to the owner ( Oliver). We have contributed to this business for years and the service gets worst and worst to the point where I will not return. Placed my online order and the email confirmation says that the order was ready with in 30 mins. I arrive 45 mins after, no food which is ok because it's packed. Fast forward 1 hour and 36 mins later, I ask the lady behind the counter can I just be refunded? She turns around a hand me a bag of food that was originally sitting there when I came in. Remind you there's about 15 staff members there. This is truly disappointing.

Food was nasty.. no seasoning! This ain’t no real jerk spot! Jerk sauce was a1 steak sauce and bbq sauce mix.
