My husband and I first came into contact with Van Abel's of Hollandtown when we were searching for a wedding caterer. We requested a tasting and were easily scheduled for one. Let me just say, we should've prepped for a meal! Van Abel's was kind enough to provide a MOUNTAIN of food for us to try - as foodies, we were so excited that we could take any leftovers home with us. We booked their catering service shortly afterwards.

Prior to the wedding, we were in constant contact with Van Abel's to determine price, number of guests, style of dinner, and more. Van Abel's was familiar with our venue, so they were knowledgeable about set-up, as well. Even though our meal was buffet-style, the catering staff was prompt, attentive, and SO SO KIND! We received so many compliments from our guests about the food and the service.

If we were ever to redo our wedding, we would pick Van Abel's of Hollandtown immediately. We thank them for being a highlight of our wedding!

Stopped on 2/16 and we were offered to wait at the back bar. When we arrived a young man took our drink order, he brought 2 of the sodas and a juice. The coke we ordered was forgotten, but it seemed the soda gun wasn't working. After they brought cans to the bar we still waited as the young man went onto serving other guests arriving. Our wait was short, we noticed the young man didn't take the cash we left on the bar, more waiting. We finally got his attention and left without the 3rd soda.
Our server, Justice, was the complete opposite. She shared that she was new, but she was great and did a great job in fulfilling our requests.
The atmosphere is always loud and hard to have conversation, but the food makes up for it.

11/29/24. Absolutely terrible service. If you bring up any concerns, you just get gas lighted. I had to wander around the restaurant on two different occasions looking for a server to help us or even bring us coffee. When I found someone and asked for service, they got all irritated and sarcastic. Really? This is a restaurant, right? No tip, and if I had a choice, I wouldn't have paid anything. It wasn't worth 20 dollars. Not if you have to get up and wander around the building looking for some coffee.

If you can not serve, do not want to serve, or lose interest in serving people, then maybe close the place or find management who actually cares about the people paying money to eat at your establishment.

It's not good and definitely not acceptable. I will not be bringing my family to Van Ables ever again.

12/21/24. Update: I am still waiting for the promised gift card to "reset" my experience, lol. So not only was the service terrible, the manager, Clay, lied to me about sending a gift card as a way to apologize and "reset," as he said.

This apparently is Van Able's standard. Bad service and management that lies to its customers. It's not a good long-term business plan.

My family and our loved ones recently celebrated my parents 61st wedding anniversary at Van Abel's. We ordered the family style all you can eat chicken. Reservations were not honored, after we were finally seated we had to wait over 30 minutes to order. The service was extremely slow. The food quality was not good. Many of the food items were not hot enough. The portions of food were very small. Our party of 6 was not able to eat toghert because there wasn't enough food for 6 people. The wait time for more portions to be brought was very long. One person in our party had raw chicken. Our party was very disappointed.

Which there were only 2 of waitresses-with 5 bussers who don't/can't do anything else? Maybe you should train them & let them take plates away and provide drinks when there's not enough wait staff? We waited forever for refills and the food wasn't all going to be consumed by us so we were not priority I guess. She did her best for being 1 of 2. Still ridiculous.

If we return we know never to order the family style meal ever again not unless we have a large party. The food was good. But definitely need to rethink the no leftovers for family meals and letting bussers gain more skills by helping when short-staffed.

Usually enjoy going out to eat at Van Abels and get the chicken family style for the table. The food is good and usually the service also. Unfortunately, our last visit for a party of eight was somewhat disappointing. We went on the Saturday before Easter. The whole table got the family style which was the only thing offered. Our server was inattentive and not enough food was brought out for a party of eight so had to wait quite awhile to be able to even ask for more. The biggest disappointment though was the cost. We were charged the price of Easter brunch which was ten dollars more then the normal price we would pay. The only difference in our meal is that they added ham but none of the other items that are included with Easter brunch. When the bill came it just said eight family style and put the total without listing how much each meal was. When we figured out the actual cost we were quite upset. The meal definitely was not worth the cost.....so sad that an establishment that we frequent quite a bit would be such a disappointment 😕

For our birthday, my sister and I wanted to see Van Abel's of Hollandtown as our parents used to come here for dinner, dancing, bowling and fun over some 85 years ago. I remember as a young girl having fun here with my cousins and enjoying the family style dining with my aunts and uncles.The place, (with some upgrades) immediately brought back many wonderful memories. Although the bowling alley is converted to a banquet hall, the layout remains the same.The food is just as delicious and plentiful as I remembered it so many years ago. Bring your hearty appetite as the Chicken dinner includes dressing, dinner rolls, cranberries, bean salads, regular salad, and many additional sides, including dessert, just keeps coming! The food is quality, quantity, and reasonably priced. There's something to be said about a restaurant that has been in business since 1848. My only comment is you are not allowed to take leftovers home so take only what you can eat. Hollandtown is approximately 30 minutes south of Green Bay and is certainly worth the drive to experience Van Abel's.

Very disappointed in this. Heard it was very well reviewed of lots of supper clubs in the area. Went for the first time with a large group. Beware!!!! The chicken was just a standard broasted chicken, fried cod was blah, mashed potatoes were clearly not real potatoes, stuffing was beyond soft almost to the point of being liquid, and the green beans in a cream tasted like they were drenched in mayonnaise or tartar sauce and were something out of my worst possible nightmares. That flavor combination is completely messed up and should never exist in any level of reality. I don’t plan on returning, and would seriously consider dining in a correctional facility as an upgrade.

I’ve been coming here for around 30 years and while there have been changes, it feels like the place is still the same as always (in a good way). Dining in can take a while to get seated, room for hundreds but not the kitchen or staff to support (necessary to accommodate weddings/events) but the food is awesome. The chicken, fish, steaks - all top notch. Sides are mediocre but that’s not why anyone goes. Great old fashions too. Takeout is a great option, usually takes one drink at the bar amount of time to get your food.

Went there for fish Friday evening. We were greeted by a smiling hostess who took us in to a table as we requested. As soon as we put our menus down our waiter was there and took our order. The food was there fast. It was delicious and hot. Our waiter checked in with us to make sure everything was satisfactory. When we left he thanked us for coming out and said he hoped to see us again. Rings were lightly breaded and hot! Salads were very good as were the dressings we chose.
Steaks were cooked as ordered and scallops and cod were nicely cooked and very tasty. Basket of bread/buns with butter. Potato wedges were very good with a light breaded crust. Wasn't a huge fan of the green beans with bacon sauce. A little too different taste for us.

Rich with history and The oldest Wisconsin supper club, this is a must stop if you are in the Fox Valley/Green Bay Area.

They have 2 large bar/seating areas while you wait for your table(wi supper club tradition) and a game room area for the kiddos.

Service here is great! especially with the volume of people they serve day in and out.

Food was disappointing. We were put off in another large room with no others dining and felt like they forgot about us for a second time. Forgot at the bar too. Chicken was dry and not fresh. Stuffing was blah and used to be a favorite. Sweet sour green beans with bacon tasted like beans in mayo. There couldn't have been a single slice of bacon in the entire large bowl. Used to be my favorite but quality isn't there anymore. Coffee in carafe was barely luke warm. Desserts were probably what others didn't want. Van Ables catered our wedding, and it was one of the best decisions we made! Patty was great to work with throughout the entire process, and both the food and service were amazing. We also rented our table linens from Van Abel’s, and they were high quality and affordable. Out guests loved the broasted chicken buffet, and we saw multiple tables going up for seconds and thirds. 10/10 would recommend!

We had Van Abel's cater our wedding in July and it was wonderful! The food was amazing; we got so many compliments on it from our family and friends. The team was so nice - never once did we have to worry about the food. They were also very helpful leading up to the wedding and answered any questions we had. We would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a caterer!

Throwback to 1950's Wisconsin. A Super Club like I remember as a kid. The Broasted chicken was fantastic, the sides not as much. You might expect it to be inexpensive since it's so far away from everything but you would be wrong. Expect to pay $25+ for the food alone. With a little more quality to the side dishes, potatoes, gravy and Coleslaw, I would rate it a 4 or 5.

The wait staff (Michelle) was fun and provided the best service. She was on top of ensuring drinks and plates were full and had a fantastic sense of humor. She really made us feel like special and valued customers.

Van Able's has the expected Wisconsin super club drinks with their own signature old fashion and bloody Mary. The bloody Mary comes with a cheese whips and and a sausage stick. However, the chicken family/country style dinner is what brings the crowd in on Sunday. There isn't an imaginable side dish missing from this dinner and even includes assorted dessert bars. For my extended family the Van Able chicken dinner is what sets the standard for what chicken is supposed to taste like the the greater Green Bay area. If I ask my children if they want chicken for dinner their first question is always "Van Able's?".
