I’m so surprised by the high star reviews at this establishment. Although very young, the staff were very kind and attentive, but they need coaching and mentorship which seems to be absent. The kitchen was backed up (which was explained to us) and we had no problem waiting, but when our food arrived it was not acceptable.

What a quaint cafe. I stopped in randomly. Was greeted in the parking lot by an employee running to grab eggs. My breakfast sandwich was the best and the cashier/baker recommended the most delicious cookies. I can't wait to go back and dine in. What a gem. I'm so glad I found it. My husband says he would move to Cross Plains solely for the peanut butter brownies. They are that good. Someone give this baker an award. Service is fantastic too, some of the friendliest people. Great spot for a healthy (or unhealthy if that's what you want) lunch/breakfast.

Excellent breakfast and cafe options. I highly recommend the churro French toast special, biscuits and gravy, and veggie scramble special. They consistently have new drink options and bakery items. You get a lot of food for what you pay and the service is always very friendly. And once you finish your breakfast you can go walk off the pancakes by pathway that follows the creek.

Everything about this place was incredible. Clearly family owned – the owner and his daughter were working in the front and were absolutely wonderful.

I myself was just fishing at the local creek nearby – but while waiting for my food, it was clear that the owners/staff all knew the regulars by name. And this was a local hotspot that people clearly are reoccurring customers at.

I would recommend 10 times out of 10 to anybody visiting town /fishing near by /just looking for a good breakfast.

Spent $43 on two breakfasts which included coffee, hot tea & tip. Both of our eggs were COLD (mine were scrambled, his were over easy). It was as though the eggs were cooked way before the sausage & bacon were cooked. My bf had the strawberry topped waffle. Though the strawberry topping was warm, the waffle itself was cold & chewy.

The atmosphere is so so. Looks as though the owners are trying to make it look trendy. Food is entirely over-priced for the quality.

After eating here, we regretted not stopping at a local mom n' pop diner for our breakfast during our travels.

Fantastic little cafe with charm. Staff is very attentive and willing to offer recommendations. Prices are reasonable, and food is consistently delicious. Large selection of homemade desserts, which change every couple weeks. Outdoor seating available (pets welcome).
Would highly recommend the banana pancakes and the Vessel sandwich (with candied bacon added!). Vessel has quickly become our favorite weekend breakfast spot!

First time to Vessel Cafe. Very nice place. It's a great space and I love the big tables. Easy to find and good parking. All the food was very good, except the pancakes. While they look great in the picture, they were not done inside which means they were still wet and tasteless. They just need to tweak the recipe. We will be back.

The food was delicious, but the service was abysmal. Our lattes took half an hour to come out, and the high schoolers working the counter had to be reminded twice about them. We were most of the way done with our food by the time we got our drinks. If you're going to hire a bunch of high school kids to work a Sunday rush you need to teach them how to prioritize ticket orders and service efficiently, otherwise get some proper lifers to do your busiest shifts.

Such friendly and welcome staff!! Was there for lunch (breakfast is served all day and lunch starts at 11) and had the pulled pork and it was great. 9/23 update: went here with my family this morning for breakfast. Food was delicious, coffee was good and we all had a wonderful experience. They updated some of the seating options and we really liked it. My sister said a few times that she enjoyed every bite. Mothers only complaint was the burrito she ordered was just an egg in a tortilla.. thankfully my sister and I had plenty of extra food to share. Cute place in cross plains.

Not a bad place. I came here for the special I saw on a FB community group. It was a waffle BLT with hashbrowns. The BLT was really good. The hashbrowns looked really delicious but tasted like the oil hadn't been changed in a while. They were not edible for me or my friend.
The owner comes out and says hello to people which I do enjoy. Lots of baked goods. Service is kind of slow as kids were working and they didn't seem to know how everything works.. but that's okay. You gotta start somewhere 😉

My other complaint is the establishment has a no dogs sign on the window. But a couple who is clearly friendly with the owner came in with their dog. The dog was held by the woman and allowed to put it's paws on the table while they ate their breakfast. Dog is shown in one of my photos.

They need to make themselves more apparent as you'd never know they existed if you drove by. At least a classic a-frame sign outside. Came

We went there with our third shift work crew for breakfast . Vessel cafe is a beautiful small town cafe open brunch hours wed-sunday. They hire mostly town high schoolers and students and pay well from what I have heard. I have had a lot of burritos in my life, but I am not exaggerating when I say their breakfast burrito is the best burrito I have ever had. I personally get it with Maple Sausage and Candied Bacon, and it is to die for. They always have an amazing assortment of bakery items and the atmosphere is always fantastic.

Visited for breakfast on a Saturday around 9AM. The restaurant was about 3/4 which includes an assortment of booths and tables as well as outdoor dining.

You order from the posted menu at the counter and have your food delivered to your table.

I had the egg, protein, and toast along with a coffee. The food was delivered expediently (under 10 minutes) to our table.

Everything was as expected and delicious. The scrambled eggs were fluffy, and the sausage patty had the perfect spice/seasoning mix. Even the coffee was excellent and had a mild bright flavor.

I will definitely be back again!

We came to Vessel Cafe for the first time about a month ago and wow...it was delicious. Amazing breakfast (must try the biscuits & gravy and their pancakes!! So good!), cozy atmosphere (very family friendly) and top notch service. Came back a 2nd time two weeks later with our kids and sealed the deal on our new favorite place. It's one thing to have great food, but the friendly, attentive staff is what really brings you back. Also, their bakery selection is awesome. Tried their Chocolate Irish Cream Cake..YUM. Thought I'd try the Vessel out for lunch after discovering our little village lost our Mexican food restaurant. Ordered the shrimp po'boy sandwich, not expecting the best ever given the fact we're in WI, and I have to admit, it was really tasty. Nice heat to go with the sweet sauce and the bread was good. It's nice to know there's a go-to sandwich shop in CP. I'll be back.

Great location, prices and staff! Had the breakfast special of hazelnut pancakes with fried eggs and 2 strips of bacon as well as chocolate chip pancakes cooked to perfection! The pancakes are the best I’ve ever had- super fluffy and BIG! Grabbed some cinnamon rolls, a scotcharoo and a s’mores cookie for later. The cinnamon rolls are out of this world good! Great job guys. I have been meaning to try this place since it opened and I'm so glad I got the chance today. Very cute and welcoming space with plenty of seating options.
