This is my first time here, and it is early in the morning on a Saturday but it is very chill and relaxing in here. I love the decor and feel to this place.
Service is amazing, and it seems like the staff has regulars that they chat with, which means they do care about their customers.

We were visiting from out of town and decided to stop by on our way to breakfast. We gave ourselves like 20 extra minutes to get coffee because it was a busy Saturday. We were second in the drive through and it took over 40 minutes to get just our coffees so we were late to breakfast. No one let us know when we ordered that it would be that long. Three people working, one couple in line before us. Ordered two sandwiches and waited 20 minutes. They completely forgot we ordered food. They were not busy, had three employees in neutral, yet found a way to forget our order.

Come for the coffee and atmosphere. Dine somewhere else.

I liked the decor and small business items around the shop. I ordered a coffee and a breakfast sandwich that were pretty good. The staff was super friendly and quick. It was SO loud in here though. I had to yell my order and could barely hear when they called my name. Would recommend for a get together, but not if you want to study or get work done.

Very disappointed in my recent visits there in the past two months. I've been coming there for years, but the turnover in staff and their lack of attentiveness is dismal. The past three visits, the staff have forgotten I was there and left me hanging during times when you weren't that busy. The bakery is exceptional, which is why I drive from Waukesha twice a week. I've given VG three opportunities for improvement, but now I'll have to find someplace else. What happened? You had such a fun place to hang out.

Update: it’s been a month and I upgraded my earlier review as the owners reached out to ask for additional suggestions. I’ve been there three more times very recently and have seen service improvement. I was impressed with the open effort. I know it takes a lot of work to run this type of business.

First off, this place really is Vintage-y, and so cool inside! We absolutely loved the decor and the layout of everything. The old salon chair is an especially cool addition to sit in.
The one thing that wasn't very pleasant was how loud one of the machines were. I'm not sure if it was a blender or grinder but it was so loud to the point that if you're in a conversation, you're not going to be able to hear the other person until the noise stops. We had to stop our conversation multiple times over the course of the 40 minutes that we were there.
The food was decent.
The first time we came here, we asked for a mocha to be a "kids temperature" and not hot... and it ended up being very hot and had to cool off for quite a while.
The coffee is really good and is our favorite (anodyne is our favorite).

We will likely return when it's a little warmer to sit outside and be away from the noisy-ness.

UPDATE: 03/15/25: Second time stopping by (DI Tournament related again!). This time we slated enough time to sit down and relax for a while before having to start the day.

Everything from last year was still here - including the great food and service. My wife (g-free due to Celiac) tried their Mini Banana Bread Loaf and loved it - with no adverse reactions! Their specialty espresso drinks were again excellent (Blarney Stone Latte, and a Caramel Macchiato).

ORIGINAL REVIEW - MARCH 2024: A very nice and uniquely decorated local coffee joint. Found them this year while in town appraising for the Destination Imagination Sectional Tournament. Needed to be on-site by 06:30 on a Saturday, so I appreciated that they were open early!

Decided to come in vs the drive-through option. Nice decor that looks like a cross between a Flea Market and an Antique store. I appreciate places that don't try to look like "the other guys." Very warm and intriguing. A visual feast for those of us prone to adult A.D.D.! Had places allowing small groups to sit and enjoy if they wished.

As a first-timer, I greatly appreciated the online ordering option, as we were just a tad behind schedule and coming in from Bluemound in Brookfield. Was easy to navigate their site on my phone.

Arrived 10 minutes earlier than expected. Was easy to locate via GPS. Inside, the staff were exceptionally friendly. Had some conversation, my (delectable!) white mocha decaf, and was on my way before my original arrival time. A nice selection of coffee shop eats are available.

My husband and I were there yesterday and left a review regarding our lunch order, not coming out in a reasonable amount of time. He was being kind. We sat there for 20 minutes without anything and I finally got up and asked where our sandwiches were and they didn’t even know. We were sitting where we could observe their activity level and there was no other food prepared during the time we placed our order And the food was finally made for us. I did see them finishing one sandwich right as we were sitting down to wait. We left the stuff on the table after tipping 20% for our lunch order. Completely arrogant response to our review. Just because you have a cute atmosphere doesn’t excuse someone completely ignoring us and trying to defend their actions. It would have been far more tasteful for someone to have taken accountability instead of lying in your response.

Its a breeding ground of karens. I ordered a medium cold brew and the service could have been faster but it was busy. This lady in front of me was asking about a free bag of coffee or something like that when all she really needed to do was wait patiently. They're a bunch of college kids that work there so Im not knocking them but the customers there are so picky, entitled, and uptight. When I drove around the back to leave, there are only two lanes. Left for drive through and right to exit and this lady was just sitting there in the middle of both lanes and I couldnt get out because she was blocking.

Anodyne coffee was excellent; nice and strong. Love the decor. A request: please consider providing a fragrance-free and NON antibacterial soap in the restroom. Like many others I have adverse reactions to fragrance. I know Purell has a wall-mounted fragrance-free option. See photo. I believe the SoftSoap brand has options. BTW antibacterial soaps do not do a better job at removing germs. Thank you. Addendum: owner contacted me to follow up on my request for fragrance-free soap in the bathroom. Service was slow, a few young kids working behind the counter joking around...was waiting a long time for my drink, the one worker made her drink before her shift ended which had me waiting longer....had one person in front of me...one lady came in later after me, lady that came in after me got her 2 drinks before me, total of half hour standing and waiting for my drink. This is a place I waited way too long to try out, but can say that I can see it being my new favorite breakfast/ coffee place!

While they may have quite a (fun) mix of furnishings, it still gives off an extremely welcoming and cozy feel that will make you wish you could spend all day there.

Every staff member has been beyond friendly, even when busier. On one of my visits, the one who I was talking with actually got intrigued by my drink order enough to try it as well which was a fun experience! A shake with blackberry and almond if anyone was curious 😉

Well Hello there hidden gem!! This place is amazeeeeing!! Stumbled across it and I will be going out of my way (literally) to come here often. I tried the buddy the elf coffee and it was to die for. I don't know what made it so good and honestly don't need to know. Neither do you, just take my word for it, it was GOOD! I also ordered a hot chocolate, my friend loved it.
