This is the best sushi place in town. The staff is so so nice and attentive, guaranteed amazing service. The sushi is delicious and well presented. The hot food is spectacular and some of the best hibachi around. Our server nichola was one of the best waitresses we’ve ever had, and we have had a lot. Best sushi place in Wisconsin, matter of fact, probably the entire country. Please try this place out.

Our waitress was so slow. The people that sat behind us came in 15 minutes after us got drinks and food before us and left before us and our waitress never even came.. when she came she was rude fast and only came around when the bill was there. The whole time she never came to talk to us ask us how our food was only came to drop off the bill and then stood over my shoulder, waiting for me to pay how rude how disrespectful. We had a really nice family dinner here last night. We eat here pretty regularly, but tonight the restaurant seemed short staffed as there was no one hosting, but the staff that was there really stepped it up. Our server, Nicola, was great. Very attentive and pleasant. The food was also very good. The Oconomowoc roll is really delicious. Even non sushi lovers like it. The yakisoba was extra good-better than usual, and the other sushi rolls and sashimi we ordered were all good. We'll be back.

We've eaten here several times and have never had anything that wasn't great. It's a also a nice place to take people who aren't totally sold on the idea of raw sushi. They have some deep fried rolls I refer to as 'newbie sushi' since it's kind if in between. The price for the value is good, comparable to the other sushi places we have eaten. Less important, I LOVE their chandeliers, they are beautiful.

Update years later: it's still awesome. We mostly do takeout because we prefer to eat at home in general but I like that it's a place we can take company and know that the food is going to be good and the service will be good.

My daughters and I went for dinner on a Thursday evening. We started with the Crab Rangoon and it was the best we have ever had. We went with our kids hoping to treat them to a true hibachi experience. We talked up before hand how they cook in front of you, you’ll see flames, etc. Please be aware that this hibachi restaurant doesn’t cook in front of you. Stopped in for sushi on a Friday night. We were seated within minutes of arriving. Our waitress was great! She was friendly and attentive. We started with a few apps- shrimp tempura and crab rangoon. Their lunch special is the best deal around!!!!! Our server was amazing, especially with me having a young toddler. He grabbed three drinks right away without asking, including a strafome cup with lid and straw. He knew I didn't want the fork from our starter, and my son would be eating sushi from my meal. He brought out an extra small plate and another sushi set with a rubber band and stopper so my son could use it! It was truly a breath of fresh air compared to the "norm".

Their sushi is okay. However, they 100% do not clean their shrimp for the volcano shrimp appetizer. There was so much filth in its vein that you could SEE IT THROUGH THE BATTER. Opened it up, it was absolutely filthy with it. If a sushi restaurant doesn't clean their shrimp, how do they treat their other ingredients? Hard pass.

Went for a bday. Three adults and a 3 yr old. Such pleasant and attentive service. The variety of food items on the menu is exciting!! So many various Japanese dishes to choose from. I decided to give this restaurant a second chance after my first experience of dining in. Unfortunately the results were the same. The sushi was extremely disappointing. I have had sushi all over the United States so my review is based upon many experiences some outstanding and others not so much. VIP Sushi is in my opinion not worthwhile. I ordered a spicy yellowtail roll, the fish was dry, no flavor and had some type of crunchy bread crumb which I have never had in this type of roll. There was no spicy sauce drizzled on top. Nothing spicy about it and the crunchy crumbs triggered my gluten sensitivity. Also ordered 3 basic types of sushi, the salmon, tuna and yellowtail. The salmon and tuna were bland, lacking in flavor and it was difficult to tell the 2 apart, the yellowtail tasted fishy. The rice in the roll and sushi was overly sticky and gummy.
I was disappointed and needless to say I won't be returning. My meal cost $28.

The sushi itself was pretty good. But we ordered pickup. They told us it would be ready at 6:30pm. But they said to wait in the car and they would text me when it was ready. I arrived at 6:20pm and waited for the text. No text. At 6:40pm I went in the store and saw my order on the counter. Turns out it had been there since 6:20pm. I asked why they didn't text me like they said they would. "We're busy and didn't have time." They actually were not very busy at all. The soup and other items were cold.

We wanted sushi, we wanted to like it & we wanted to support local small business.

When we got there for our reservations the counter was filled with to go orders.

First the appetizers, 2 of 3 came out, 3rd did not, had to ask for it, 20 minutes or so after the first 2 came out. (the young 16 or so yr old waitress was left to tend the whole dining room.)

Then the main course, after an hour & half wait, one came out & we waited another 10 minutes for the next main dish.

It was a step (A STEP) above Pick & Save sushi for well over double the price. Had to ask for soup & salad twice, that came out AFTER the second main dish.

We get it carry-out has been your go to for the past couple years & you only recently opened your dining room back up, BUT COME ON, IT WAS LIKE A SLAP IN THE FACE. YOU WAIT WHILE WE KEEP COOKING CALL-IN/to go ORDERS.

It was the worst $130 bucks we ever spent. Will never go back there again! Go to Sabai Sabai for a better roll, a better drink & better service, or Metro Market/Pick & Save.

Visited this place on Sunday after church. This place was really empty and had maybe two other couples there. We have tried many of the other Sushi places in southeast Wi and liked this one the best so far. We ordered fairly simple rolls and deep fried Oconomowoc roll. They are way overboard on the COVID issue. Their phone does not work - went in to order and they have the place completely sealed up and she was wearing a mask which made it difficult to communicate so we left.

Restaurant is take out only due to COVID. Precautions are taken to the extreme as patrons can only enter the foyer and talk to waitstaff through plexiglass. Menu is varied with both Sushi and hibachi offerings. The combo filet and shrimp hibachi meals was good, but Some of the meat was a bit chewy. Salad, rice and soup were good as well. Price was reasonable. I would like to try the food again when the place is open for dine in.

We eat here multiple times a month. We find ourselves sometimes going here a couple times a week. The food is good and so are the prices. Since The Rona they have only been open for carry out orders which is fine but I'd like to see the dining room open sometime in the near future. That's really the only reason why I gave them a 4 star. Dining room opens up they'd get a 5 star from me.

I can only speak to carrying out food!

Their prices are great. Sushi is fresh. And incredibly FAST service. I placed an order for some sushi rolls to go, and my order was ready in less than ten minutes!

The rolls were tasty. A good size. Fresh. Somethings with "basic" simple rolls, they are pretty small. This was a nice size with good amounts of avocado!

This is the best sushi I've had in Wisconsin. Lots of variety. Lots of variety with *fresh* fish. I notice in Wisconsin, a lot of places focus on crab, shrimp, fried fishes, etc. This has so many different fresh fish sushi roll combinations!
