One in the group never even got her food.
Owner refused any accountability, refused to come out & acknowledge, apologize or do anything to make it right. Instead waited until I walked away to address our kids in back with rude comments & stormed around as if we had inconvenienced HER.
Our kids had reservations for 630. Still no food by 8pm. It was made clear we were there for dinner before the Homecoming dance. Upon arrival, the group was seated in the back. They were the only table back there. The front of the restaurant was about half full and some at the bar. There was one other group of 8 in there, they left right around 730. The group of parents (total of 7) sat at the bar & ordered drinks/appetizers. Before half of us had our drinks, the wait staff had all taken a shot together. The group of our kids in back ordered cheese curds as an appetizer. It took 45 minutes for them to get that. It took about 45 minutes for our appetizers as well. Around 730, the kids asked how much longer it would be as the homecoming dance STARTED at 730pm. By 750 I asked where their food was and stated again that they had the homecoming dance which had already started. They said "it’s being made right now" for the second time. By 8pm, I was livid and demanded to know EXACTLY what the status of their food was. The owner was in the back making snarky comments. Anyone who has been here knows you can see right in the kitchen. She refused to come back to the table by the kids which I waited at until everyone had their food. Only once I had walked away did she go back & address the kids in an unacceptable rude manner. One of the girls in our group never even got her food! It is now 820 and we are the ONLY PEOPLE IN THE ENTIRE PLACE. There were multiple people in the kitchen at all times & behind the bar. The place was well enough staffed. There was no excuse. There was no accountability & we were met with nothing but attitude. We didn't walk in on a Saturday evening expected to be seated and served immediately, hence why we had RESERVATIONS. Even if the place was full, there is NO reason that we should have been there 2 hours and there is absolutely no reason someone in our group should have had to leave without even eating. Unacceptable. But if you look at the reviews on google, plenty of people have had the same experience. It could be an amazing place. At no time was there any apology from the owner herself. She sent her waitress out to address everything. I even made a comment to the waitress asking why the owner wouldn't come out & acknowledge the situation. I hate to think how the kids would have been treated had a parent not been there to speak up. I don't know that I've ever posted about a restaurant & a bad experience but this was far beyond that. Please head over to yelp and read reviews there as well. They ALL echo the same experience I had!

We've been here a couple times and have never had good service, or anything spectacular for food. I never leave negetive reviews of restaurants or local businesses, I just choose not to go back and let others decide for themselves. However, after how they reacted after my wife shared her latest experience, I feel inclined to do so. Feel free to read my wife's review and the dozens of others that echo her experience. But to further expand on the depth of management incompetencies at the Waterfront Wine Bar. My wife received a call from from the owner in which ownership took zero accountability for this or any other of the countless instances of trash service. She did nothing but make excuses backed up outright lies. And try to get my wife to take her review down, it was strictly narcissistic damage control. When my wife stated that she would not be doing that because there was still zero accountability on their end, The owner threatened to call the police, and demanded our address so that "her legal team could send us a cease and desist for slander and defamation of character". I think that shows what type of people they are. That's crossing a line I won't stand for... So unless you enjoy sitting in a "mean girls club" with people who think they can bully customers spending their hard earned money in their overpriced establishment waiting 45 minutes for simple drinks and over 2 hours for food while the staff is having a great time doing shots together, I would encourage you to take your business elsewhere. Courthouse pub, Bricks, and Ryan's are all much better choices.

Avoid this appalling adventure into apathy. The service was very slow and unenthusiastic. We sat at the bar where you could see into the kitchen, and the low quality and low quantity of the food being 'prepared' did not match the high prices.
Last, but never least: the issue of the menu only being available by QR code (which would not scan successfully). I was on a date to engage in conversation and do not want to have my nose buried in my phone. Furthermore, I look at a screen all day for work and I do not want to continue to look at a screen in the evening.
It took fifteen minutes to get two simple beverages on a slow night, we could not view the menu, and we felt very unwelcome.
Overall, a disappointing and inhospitable experience.

Zero stars for service. There were less than 10 people in restaurant and it took almost an hour and a half to get our food after ordering and 40 minutes for a cocktail. Food was above average though and the cocktails were good. Just expect to wait forever without any sort of explanation as to why.

The Pad Thai is absolutely phenomenal! You can’t go wrong with any of the craft cocktails, but my favorite was the Blue Moon Martini. The service is excellent—our bartender was very attentive and made us feel so welcomed. A great place to go with a group of friends! We’ll definitely be back!

I came to this place for Labor Day weekend. It seemed like everyone here wanted to eat at the Wharf, which is across the river from this spot. I decided to try this place, and it was definitely worth it.

I ordered the crab claws, which were beautifully plated and very delicious. My only suggestion would be to add some salted clarified butter to help enhance the delicate meat.

I also ordered the Tuna Tower, which was very good. The tuna was fresh and tasty.

The final sampling was of the coconut shrimp, which were served crunchy and perfectly brown. They came with a Thai-inspired dipping sauce, but I asked for a more traditional cocktail sauce, and the chef preferred some fresh for us.

I know WI is one for burgers, fish fries, and cheese curds, but this was a refreshing hidden gem. I wish they had a little band or singer-songwriter playing music on the weekends to attract more customers.

My date was very disappointed in his bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin. My burger was amazing. we were just trying to enjoy our wine and the server kept coming back (4 times) to get the bill like she was getting off or something but she wasn't. She was young and didn't know how to read the table.

Wonderful location! Need to hire more staff because the service was glacial. Our server was slammed with a big table but the other server wouldn’t help by covering tables that weren’t their’s telling us basically, “you’re not my table.” 1 1/2 hours to get chips and salsa and glasses of wine? I love this hidden gem on the river.
They craft great cocktails with fresh juices and premium spirits. My favorite Margarita in the state! .
The food is creative, and the menu covers varied cuisines and nightly features. All dishes I’ve had were delicious. The chef accommodated our special requests regarding sauces, snd spices. I especially love their Thai dishes. Lovely owners and staff too! Waterfront Wine Bar is always one of our first stops when we visit Manitowoc.

Being on the river is indeed lovely and the view are wonderful! However the food was absolutely awful. The fried cheese curds were sooooo salty, the chicken sandwich was deep fried to the hardness of a hockey puck and dripping in grease and the pad Thai was overwhelmingly drowning in sauce, and the prices were extremely high for a mediocre wine bar. Will not be back.

Thanks to one of my colleagues, we found this fabulous place for wine and food! The atmosphere is intimate, rustic and inviting. We enjoyed lovely wines and delicious food. The calm and quiet atmosphere afforded us an evening of great conversation. You should definitely visit and ask for LeeAnne. She is amazing! We assumed she must be an owner or manager, but much to our surprise she isn’t! However she is the heart of the place when she’s there.

We were served by LeAnne. Ask for her. I’m serious. This is a lady who understands how to make a wining and dining experience exceptional. My dinner partner and I both figured that LeAnne must be a part-owner, or at least a manager. It wasn’t that she went out of her way for us, no; it was simply her usual way of treating people: with respect, efficiency, consideration, good humor, and good nature. I chose the Wine Bar for my birthday dinner and boy was that a bad idea. It was a slow Thursday evening with only 3 tables in the establishment. Our small group ordered drinks which didn’t get to our table until 35 mins later, and we did not get to order until the drinks came. Even though the waitress took the full order of the table next to us that came in 15 mins after us. Worst yet, when we finally got to order we waited 1.5 hours for chicken Parmesan and a Phillysandwhich. When the food FINALLY came all of it was cold. Probably the most bland , tasteless chicken parm we’ve ever tasted. My 7 and 8 year old could have made a better pasta dish. The waitress was too busy laughing it up at the bar instead of paying attention to the only 3 tables. Our bill totaled up to almost 200, no penny of it was worth it. Never again dining there.

We went to the wine bar for the first time on New Year’s Eve. It wasn’t that busy with our 5pm dinner reservation and we thought we would get some more service than we did but it is totally understandable with it being a holiday. I had the moscato wine which was a classic. We then ordered the warm French bread and it came with marinara, pesto and butter which was delicious. We had the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin and the seared tenderloin with a creamy crab sauce on top. The sides were different which is nice to mix it up. Overall we thought the vibe and the food was great. Would definitely come again

Took over 30 minutes to get our drinks - 1 cocktail, a soda and a water. Then it took another hour to get our food. Then another hour to get our check. By the time we left I had spent enough time in this state to claim residency and file income taxes. The atmosphere is nice and the staff were fine but oh my goodness do they need more staff to speed things along! We had plans to see the lights at the zoo tonight and missed it because we didn’t anticipate a dinner for 4 to take over 2.5 hours

We had a group of 4. Walked in and the place was damn near empty, so we're debating where we want to sit - hostess goes, "do you have a reservation?" 😅 The place has like 6 people in right now lol we say no, and then get shuffled in the back at one of the uncomfortable tables, instead of up front where it's pretty and cozy. Whatever. Felt like the red headed step child, but alright..
Server was a little short but friendly, I guess. I don't really remember her as she didn't come check on us hardly at all. We ended up ordering two rounds of drinks. Would have ordered a 3rd, but our waitress just didn't come back for loooooong time.. and when she finally did, we were ready to leave.

The drinks on their menu sound delicious, they have a ton of different liquors and wines. Wish I could have tried more of them! But we don't live in Manty and when we come back to visit, we probably won't come back here unfortunately.

Worst dining experience I can remember...
We arrived at 6pm with a reservation for 13, they sat us at a table for 12. Fortunately two of our party could not make it that evening so the seating worked out. The staff told us it may be an hour because they were busy (foreshadowing).
It was around 20 minutes before the server took our drink orders which I understand as they were busy. We ordered our food as well at this time because we had plenty of time to look at the menu. At 654pm our drinks finally arrived. Nearly one hour to receive drinks from the gun, we're talking lemonade and iced tea, nothing too difficult. I could grow, harvest and squeeze the lemons in less time than it took to bring out the glass of lemonade we ordered.
At 715pm I went and asked if we could get refills on drinks and asked about the status of our appetizers. The server said, sure let me take a look. Again we ordered lunch meat on a piece of wood, nothing too difficult. She brought a pitcher of lemonade and our lunchmeat after I asked.
We waiting longer and our food finally arrived at 820pm. The restaurant closes at 9pm. They had starting sweeping the floors and putting the chairs up before we even had our food. Also the food did not come out together, we had to watch as some of our table were able to eat as the rest of us drooled and looked at their plates longingly.
So for the food itself, it was also not good. I ordered the pad tai and it was liking eating mushy oatmeal. Normally I would send something like this back but at this point I would have eaten the menu I was so hungry. My daughter called the alfredo "mid" which is young person speak for "bad".
When the bill finally came and we were about to escape this terrible social experiment there is a "service charge" on our bill. I asked the server what this is and she let me know it was the 20% gratuity and then had the gall to say, "you don't have to tip any more than that".

Food was too expensive for the quality. My steak and potatoes were too salty to be edible, but the Brussels sprouts were good. My boyfriend's shrimp fettuccine alfredo was better. Good drinks. I had a black cherry moscato that was delicious and buttery. We waited an hour for our food, which we were warned about ahead of time and didn't mind because we were enjoying sitting by the water. They may have been understaffed because they didn't check on us often until the food came.

My mom always said if I didn't have anything nice to say, I should keep it to myself. But... here are the facts about our experience at this place... 1. We were at the restaurant for 2.75 hours because the food took SSSOOOOO long to arrive. 2. When the food finally did arrive, my order was cold (and I dare not say anything and risk waiting another two hours!). 3. Order Total Cost vs. Value/Experience was way off.

I get the fact that the kitchen might be small, or maybe they don't have enough staff, but nobody wants to wait nearly two hours for food to arrive after ordering. Will look elsewhere next time.

I was leery after seeing some of the reviews saying the service was slow or rude. This wasn't our experience at all, it was fairly busy, being July 3rd evening but, the service was wonderful! Prices are a little high, but food was good. Atmosphere is unique but very limited restrooms. Service was minimal at best; not friendly or attentive. I have frequented this establishment multiple times and have had great food, drinks and service. However, my kids were here from Florida over the holidays and I wanted to take them here. The food was not as good as usual and was not prepared properly. The vegetables seemed like frozen veggies from Walmart, the steaks were not prepared to order. One son ordered a signature drink with the bubble on top and rather than say, “I’m sorry, we can make the drink but we are unable to do the bubble” they brought the drink over and then told us that and 2 people attempted 5-6 times to make the bubble while laughing about it.
Then the bill came. I knew it would be expensive but they added a service charge because we had over 5 people. The service charge was 20%. I normally tip at least 20% for good service, more if great service and less if the service and food is not good which was the case this time. So I was stuck paying over $500 for a sub par experience. My kids (all adults) could not understand why I was excited to take there. I can honestly say for the price I am not sure I will be back anytime soon. Also on a side note they were not even busy like usual that night so not an excuse for poor service and food. The server stood behind bar talking to another employee while we had empty drinks and talked to us like we were 5 years old when she did manage to come around. The novelty of being a newer place has definitely wore off and it shows.

We were there for the cheese curd crawl and in our group of 9 - everyone said they would've licked that RANCH right off the plate. It was SO good!! Never had one like it. Bravo for the best dip!!! May I suggest switching your white cheddar for yellow though, that would've put you over the edge for sure!!

I have never had such a bad experience at the wine bar. I loved going for our anniversary and valentines Day. We waited over an hour in half for our food, and it was not how we ordered. She came over and offered us more bread, which should've been free!The people across from us got their food first when they got there later. Also, the people behind us got their food with in like 20 minutes. It was our wedding anniversary tonight, to what a shame. I will not be back or tell people it is a good place to go. Had the pleasure of doing a show her this past Sunday and I must say it was truly a gem! The staff here was so nice and accommodating to us. The wine selection was extensive and very descriptive. I personally had one of my Wisconsin favorites (Three Lakes Black Cab) and it was poured to perfection. They have a full kitchen which I will definitely have to come back to try more from because it smelled heavenly. Overall this is a fantastic space for a wine tasting, pairing, girls night out, etc. Definitely give them a glance and you’ll agree with me I promise you!

We drove up from Sheboygan for a treat for our Anniversary. We feel we got ripped. We ordered a drink that was very good as well as the glass of wine we each had. We ordered a meat and cheese charcuterie board for $39.00 that was suppose to serve 4-6 people. It consisted of a strawberry cut in 1/2 maybe a dozen blue berries 6-8 cubes of 3 cheeses 3 meats each having 4-5 slices of meat, 2 jellies?, some chunks of candied pineapple and crackers. $82.00. We went across the street to Izumi Sushi for the rest of our meal. It was very good. I highly recommend it.

Went to wine bar with my wife. Beautiful building. Was greeted by a wonderful waitress called Bri. Her smile lit up the place, so friendly and explained every dish in great detail. I ordered the scallops and omg mouth watering. Service was fast for how busy it was. I even saw the owner waiting on tables which is very unusual for most places, glad to see her dedication to the business. I'd recommend this place to everyone.

TL;DR - I was humiliated in front of my guests and left hungry on my wedding day.

I had my wedding reception dinner here for approx. 50 guests and the entrée selection and counts were given a month in advance. The majority of my guests as well as myself and my groom ordered the Filet Mignon, which was overcooked (every single one) to a rubber-like texture and taste. I get it's hard to ask 30+ people how they want their filet done, but why not just cook them to the standard medium???? BUT WAIT IT GETS WORSE!!! In addition to the over-done meat, it and everything else on the plate was very under seasoned, and they DID NOT provide salt or pepper for the tables. They said they could make crème brûlées for dessert and they delivered a "pudding" in a tin foil cup. In other words, it was not "brûléed" or burnt to create the hard coating of sugar that makes the dessert what it is.
I don't even know how to end this. I am just so heartbroken.

The Waterfront Wine Bar is an amazing place to visit with your loved ones! I had a great time there with my mom today. The restaurant has an inviting atmosphere. And let me tell you, the cheese curds were out of this world! I couldn't get enough of them. The Elevated Alfredo was the real star of my dining experience, truly a dish that you simply can't miss! It's the perfect combination of unique eclectic flavors and perfectly cooked pasta. And the best part? You can enjoy it alfresco! The outdoor seating is the perfect place to enjoy a meal here. Crab cakes were also incredibly delicious they were perfectly seasoned and had the most amazing texture. And don't even get me started on the tiramisu it was like a little slice of heaven on a plate! All in all, I would highly recommend the Waterfront Wine Bar to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience especially for your taste buds.

Waited for our cheese board for over 20 minutes. Eventually we realized multiple tables that were seated after we ordered had received their food, ate and had paid before our food was out. We eventually realized after 45 minutes our food still wasn’t out, we told the waitress to just give us our bill for what we have received. We could see the chef come out and be considerably frazzled we had chosen to close our tab and move on with our night. The waitress was extremely apologetic for the mishap, but after witnessing the chef mingling with other patrons, we chose to find elsewhere for our dinner. The menu seemed very appealing but considering how few consumers were in attendance, it should have been next to no wait for our food. Unfortunately, this is not the first time we have received poor service from this establishment. I hope in the future there are changes for such an amazing atmosphere.

Compelled to leave a review on this place, ironically not because of the food quality or wait staff service- never got a chance to experience it! In brief, attempted to dine there on Friday and was told at 6 PM that kitchen was backed up by 1.5 hours because of an earlier large party. Fine, I get it and no problem. The wait message was followed with - try us tomorrow (Saturday). So we called at 630 for a reservations at 8 PM. The response given was 1) they accepted the reservation, 2) announced that it was unlikely that we could order food - you won't be able to eat as they are busy.

NOT OK.... then we asked what is the point of the reservation? The reply was "we are short staffed, better to try us another night"

Flabbergasted.... oh and by the way, my version of baseball is two strikes and you're OUT, that means you waterfront wine bar.

Look, I can understand staff shortages and hourly staff that take no ownership in running the business. This is all demonstrative of poor management...

We've loved coming here since it opened - unfortunately, the menu is not what it used to be. We always love the pad Thai, but they forgot the peanut sauce at our last visit. The menu has gotten smaller and pricier. The drinks are unique for Manitowoc, but again, on the pricier side. Service is always very friendly and always slow due to lack of staff. Perhaps it's always when we go, but I've heard others have similar experiences for years. The atmosphere is great and it's nice to sit on the deck if the weather is nice. Overall, I'd recommend trying it out if you haven't!

We got here at 6:45 there were less than 30 people in the whole place. It is now 8pm and the place is empty, we do not have our food, but they are having a great time in the kitchen apparently cooking one order at a time. Always a blast at the wine bar! James was a fantastic bartender. He mixed up some amazing drinks and played a couple rounds of bar dice with us.
We had the meat and cheese board, which was amazing as always. The smoked gouda crostinis were to die for! The spinach dip was very flavorful and came in a nice, soft bread bowl.
All in all, we had a very successful mother/daughter afternoon having cocktails with James. Will DEFINITELY be back!

Waitress could have been better. Ordered Steak, medium rare. It came out well. Ceaser salad was drenched in dressing. Cheese curds and burger were mediocre. Lobster Mac and cheese was ok. My son asked for ketchup and mayo for his burger. Waitress brought out 3 ketchups and 3 mayo, in a small dish. We were charged for each ketchup and mayo. That seemed very odd. The waitress seemed to be occupied by looking so busy. We had to ordered my daughters drink 3 times and she never brought it. When she finally brought it, she brought the wrong drink. Every time she came to our table, she seemed so annoyed. At this point, it seemed as though it was done intentionally. When we were ready to pay for the bill. All guests at the table had either left or were standing by the table. Meanwhile, the waitress was having a great time just chit chatting with her coworkers. Oh she saw us. We even made eye contact. It was clear she knew and chose to ignore us. We had a service charge of around $40.00, to which I assume was gratuity. The service was not worth $40. Me and my guest could have treated her the way she treated us. But we showed her kindness and respect. Just sad that she couldn’t see that.

Went in to eat with a group of friends for one’s Birthday. Made a reservation for 6pm and were there on time. After being seated and waiting to order til after 630pm I finally asked the hostess to find our waitress for us. We ordered our appetizers and meals at the same time and again waited for the appetizers to show up for another hour! 730pm we got our appetizers and 8pm we finally got our meals. NONE of them were up to par and barely edible. One meal sent back not even eaten. Mine was brought to the table and I just asked for a box because I couldn’t wait any longer and had to leave. Once I got home and tried to eat, my steak was dry and gross and ended up in the trash. I paid $32 to throw an old cold steak away. The plate it came on was covered in grease or something. Also, while we sat and waited for so long, we could hear the kitchen staff screaming and hollering to the point the bar staff shut the door to try to hide it. We have been there many times and never had this bad of an experience. All I’ve heard lately is how bad your establishment is getting lately. The only thing that saved the experience was the waitress who we felt so bad for.
