We had our wedding ceremony at The Golden Mast as a Sunday Brunch celebration September 2025. The gazebo and lakeside room with huge windows was perfect for hosting our ~125 guests. We heard so many compliments on the food and drinks (we had the champagne brunch with the omelette and pasta station since it was early on a Sunday).

Jaci was so helpful for the several months leading up to our event. I didn't have an event planner, so I really appreciated her helping walk me through all the details and make sure everything was taken care of the day of the event.

Just got back from the worst dining experience of my life at the Golden Mast Inn. What was supposed to be a special night for my mothers birthday was anything but. This was primarily due to our waitress, who was clearly annoyed that we were there without a reservation (one was not required). Not only did she go out of her way to ignore us, it was 45 minutes until she took our order, but took every opportunity throughout the night to be rude.
Instead of, "I'm sorry I got busy, what can I get for you" it was "what do you want" when our order was finally taken. When we received our food the order was wrong. We were given the full mahi dinner (not even on the menus we had) instead of the mahi blackened sandwich (which was on the lounge menu we had) at double the price. Seeing how we were at the one hour and fifteen minute point we did not send it back. The examples of rude behavior could go on, but I think the point is made.
Perhaps a great place to eat a long time ago, not anymore. While I get having a bad night, I have never seen a waitress act in such a way. As a life long Lake Country resident, I'm never going back.

Since attending a wedding here several years ago, my husband and I were excited to return to the Golden Mast Inn. Unfortunately, the experience was underwhelming. I will say the location is incredible, with beautiful lake views. However, we had a 6:30pm reservation and were not seated into 7:20pm. They originally tried to seat us in the bar where we could not hear each other speak. When we finally got to our table, we were hopeful it would be a great dinner and the night would turn itself around. The waitress was friendly enough, and the food was ok. There was a tacky card on the table titled “Your Steak and Natural Light” which stated that if your steak looks grey, it’s just the natural light coming through the windows. It was 8pm by the time my husband received his steak, there was no natural light, and it was grey. So… ? Overall, the food itself was ok. The service was not great. The views are 10/10.

I used to love this place as a celiac, but unfortunately, I was contaminated with gluten here yesterday. I had ordered the eggplant lasagna with couscous, which was marked with a gluten‑free logo. I politely asked for confirmation that everything in the dish was gluten‑free, and the staff assured me it was. However, just a few minutes later, the server came back to my table to apologize and inform me that the dish was, in fact, not gluten‑free. She conveyed the chef’s regret and mentioned that they will correct this mistake in their menu.

Fortunately, I had only eaten half a spoonful, but this is still a serious oversight for a restaurant of this reputation. It’s a lovely place with a beautiful view, but if you have allergies or celiac disease like me, I strongly recommend triple‑checking before you eat. This is a serious medical condition—I am a symptomatic celiac, and even that small amount caused me bloating, abdominal pain, and digestive issues all night. I will likely remain bloated for about two weeks due to this small mistake.

If you don’t have any dietary restrictions, you’ll probably enjoy this place. But for those of us with medical dietary needs, please be cautious.

Weisgerber's Golden Mast is known as one of the best dining establishments in the greater Milwaukee area. The prime rib was one of the best I have had recently. The “welcome course” was the best with its decent bagels/lox and fresh fruit but it was downhill from there. Avoid the eggs Benedict. The hollandaise was too thick, too salty and too vinegary.

I'm not sure what was happening behind the bar last evening. We visit the Golden Mast at least once a month. There was a visibly drunk gal bartending last night. We have never seen her there before. She was slurring her speech, spilling drinks, dropping things on the floor, on her hands and knees on the floor and then putting garnishes in drinks after while not washing her hands. We were in total shock. Normally the bartenders are extremely professional and very good at their job. She made the other bartenders very uncomfortable as well as the guests. I hope this is an isolated incident.

All of our big family celebrations have taken place at Golden Mast since my parents moved to the area 8 years ago. We went for brunch last Sunday to celebrate my dad’s 90th birthday, and the family style service-at-your-table brunch (vs carry your plate from a buffet line to the table) worked really well, especially for Dad. The food was very good and also bottomless, so a fresh bowl of eggs was brought quickly upon our request. I think we had 5-6 types of meat? Plus pastries, desserts, fruit, etc. Friday fish fries are also fun and the food is plentiful and varied with everything you’d want at a fish fry. Pretty woodwork, lovely lake view.

Went on a thursday night for rib specials. Ordered one set of ribs with no sauce and it seemed like they just grabbed a slab out of the cooler. It was super thin and very dry. The sauced ribs were all thick and juicy. Drinks were cold and the ole fashioned was one of the better ones i have had.

My family and I came for our second time for my birthday. Last year we had a great experience. This time the service was awful, I had to request my beverage three times and when the waitress actually remembered to bring it to me, she brought me the wrong kind. My mother-in-law ordered a medium steak and got rare. My husband and I ordered the Chilean sea bass which was rubbery and fishy (the opposite of how it should be). It also took an hour and a half before we were served. By that time, none of us wanted to say anything because it took so long and we didn't want to wait even longer to have our food to be remade. Took the family here for Easter brunch. The variety of food they offered for their brunch buffet was beyond my expectations. Sometimes our kids (8 and 10) can be picky eater, but they found plenty to eat and even went back for seconds before having a dessert.

My husband and I celebrated his birthday with dinner here. This is our second time at Golden Mast Inn and we will definitely return again. The Taco paté that came with the bread was delicious and unique. The salads come with mini-bites of interesting vegetables on the four corners of the plate, very nice.

There are two vegetarian entrees, Quinoa cakes and Vegetable Ravioli. I had the Quinoa cakes at our previous visit and tonight I had the Vegetable Ravioli - Both were excellent. My husband had the Sauer Braten and enjoyed it although the beef was slightly dry. For dessert we had the Black Forest Torte and the Strawberry Schaum Torte. The Black Forest Torte may have been a little dry, but the filling and whipped cream made up for it. The meringue on the Strawberry Schaum Torte is really fascinating and highly recommended.

We both loved the German architecture and décor. And we had a nice private table facing the lake. The food and location and surroundings were all wonderful, but our waiter Julian took the experience to another level with his impeccable manner and presentation of the food! Ask for Julian next time you go, we will!

My wife and I went there for Valentine's we have eaten their several times before but this time was terrible.
It took 45 min to get our food and when they bought it out the steaks were very under cooked almost to the point they moo my lobster was flavor less and rubbery like it was microwave. The only hot item was the baked potato only because it was wrapped in tin foil. The whole experience has turned us off.

I was well impressed with the service by a kind waiter who was very suggestive of different options though not pushy. It was the perfect balance similar to the food. I don’t prefer all the red cabbage and sauerkraut, but the flavors still went really well together and contrasted nicely. I ended up liking it by the end and the clam chowder soup was delicious as well. Thr Reuben rolls were delicious and the Beef Rouleden had just the right amount of tenderness.

It is a cool place. Food was good. The building is cool. I would rate higher but I did not have a good experience with our wait staff. The waiter said they would be able to split the check up. But as soon as they looked at the first receipt she received they told us the tip was not enough. Some in our group tipped in cash and some on their card. They said it was embarrassing that they had to say something. But if they waited to see the rest of the tables tip they would have seen they were overly compensated especially for the lack of service. The young man that was tending to all our water glasses deserved the entire tip. He did great. Mixed feelings about this restaurant. Will give it quite some time before returning.

All 2 were taken, so I had to drop off my husband and there were 3 other wives who were doing the same thing. It was tight to turn around. Was really looking forward to our dinner here as we have been before and were celebrating a special occasion. We were seated early and at a window table which was wonderful and the hostess and water girl were very nice. The view was amazing and we like watching the boats on the lake. This however was when our good experience ended. Our server came over and spoke so quiet we could barely hear him and could barely tell us the specials as he didn’t really know them. He took our drink orders and then our food order. We ordered two filets, the prime rib, and the shrimp scampi. The filets and prime rib were all not cooked correctly and all had no flavor what so ever. The shrimp was rubbery and absolutely terrible. Our server never came back to check on us and therefore we weren’t able to make our complaints known. Was called later in the evening saying our credit card had accidentally been voided and needed to repay. We got to speak with the manager who informed us our server was one of their best. I hope for their sake that isn’t true. After all this we will NEVER be back especially for what you pay.

This is my favorite place for a fish fry on Fridays and for German food. It’s such a beautiful place and everything is always fantastic. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. I took my parents there when they came to visit and they were blown away.

The perfect place to enjoy a summer meal overlooking Okauchee Lake. A steel drum player played tropical tunes while we enjoyed delicious crab cakes and steak and shrimp skewers over risotto while sipping martinis. The best $80 we spent all summer. Felt like vacation on a Wed.

Lake country dining does not get any better than this. Unbelievable atmosphere and table views of the lake. Excellent service by bartenders and table staff. Menu specials every day. Highly recommended.

Prime rib for $40 can be found for half that price at any other restaurant, much better. Came out cold and tough, politely asked for it to be warmed up and received a new one, just as cold and tough. Prior to that the salad was warm and lettuce was mushy, no crunch. How can I pay$114 for that?? Well I did and sadly won't ever be back. Server said one chef and one server was off... tired of that excuse, especially from supposedly high end restaurants!

The server was up front after placing our order "the kitchen is backed up, regardless what you order and it will take 30 minutes for your order." The server noted this is the second week we've run into this problem as we have a new chief. They were not that busy. We've been there numerous times when tables were filled and orders came out well under 30 minutes. If they can't fix the problem people will go elsewhere, including our group.

Friday fish fry is a Wisconsin staple, and Golden Mast does them as well as anybody. The lake-front ambiance and live music add to the fun. But the over the top of our latest visit was the catalyst for this review: celebrating Mom's 70th birthday, our server (Patrick) was able to get the ENTIRE STAFF to stop work on a Friday night to sing Happy Birthday. Must have been 20 members of staff in total. It only took 1 minute, it was later on and the restaurant had largely emptied...but his extra effort helped really make Mom's day special. Thank you Patrick and the Golden Mast!

We came here for Sunday brunch. Everything was wonderful. It was served family style. You could ask for more of anything you wanted. Fruit, pastries, eggs, sausages, bacon, steak, ham, turkey...there was a small buffet type line you could go up to at any time to have an omelette or Belgian waffle made. With the brunch you got a complimentary glass of champagne as well. There was also a large table of fabulous deserts. Our server was excellent. I would recommend checking this restaurant out!
