I get take out often. This was the first time I've dined in. Service was AMAZING!! I was bringing 2 people who had not eaten here or even had take out. They too loved it!! Took my wife here for her birthday hoping to have a nice casual meal. The place was nice and wasn’t busy, we both had a cocktail which was very good and ordered the deep fried deviled eggs, my wife bit into and spit the bite out. They were so salty and I couldn’t tell if I was eating deep fried fish or not. After about a hour of waiting goes by our entrees finally come out. She got pulled pork Mac and cheese which was actually really good, me on the other hand got the smokehouse plater with brisket and smoked salmon. The fish was just a bit over cooked but that’s just me trying to find something wrong with the salmon. It was super good. The brisket was almost inedible, might’ve been easier to chew my work boot!! Could only eat about half the pieces I got.
In conclusion, our drinks and half the food was delicious, our waitress was very nice but the rest of mediocre. Maybe we just went there on an off night but, either way. We will not be going back.

My colleague and I travel for work. We stopped by here on our way to a customer. The inside may seem a bit strange, but it is clean, and the people are friendly.

The food was really, really good. I had a salmon BLT, and my colleague pulled pork. Considering the portions and quality, the prices here seem so low. One of the best meals of my current trip.

Horrible. I would never go back. A COCKROACH ran right across our table. Dirty and overpriced. The waitstaff is nice, but the owners cut corners, buy low quality food, lie about being homemade, and the place is filthy. Did I mention overpriced? This place is subpar. Just say NO! Something must’ve changed as I’ve been here multiple times and always liked it so I talked it up to my boyfriend and we went for dinner for our anniversary. Unfortunately, it was definitely different and just not good. The tator tots were way overcooked, the mac wedges didn’t taste like anything, and my boyfriend nearly gagged after trying his catfish po boy stating it felt like it was fried in old or reused oil. The lettuce was also visibly brown. He said the calamari was okay and I personally liked the cornbread but unfortunately even the Gabe’s Ghetti which is usually my favorite was subpar today. It was kinda weird. They call it a bistro, they are trying to be 'fancier', but the floor wasn't even clean in the bathroom and the place felt like it was on the decline. There were fruit flies buzzing in my face while eating and while in the bathroom. Drinks were very expensive at $8 a cocktail. We ordered a lobster Mac and cheese with garlic points. The 'garlic points' was just half a piece of white bread with butter and garlic. The food took a long time and was unimpressive. It wasn't bad food, but for what they are trying to be, it was disappointing. I would not go here again. If they rebranded as a bar and grill and updated the decor and kept the place clean, then maybe I would recommend this place.

Absolutely the best food I've ever had at a restaurant! The Staff was helpful and friendly. The deep fried food was so good and so fresh, it's like they change the oil every time. Wilder's had always been one of my favorite places to order for from while I was in Appleton, but this is the first time I've eaten in the restaurant, so it's about time for a proper review.

The atmosphere as you enter is rather unassuming but nice. Entering the dining area, though, you get to see where they get the Bistro part of their name. It feels like you enter into an indoor courtyard and really adds to the ambiance. I really enjoyed the decor as well. Very cute all around.

The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Our waitress, Jess, was a delight. She went over the various specialty menus that we got because it was both lunch time as well as spring.

I ended up ordering my usual, the Wilder's Bistro Melt with chicken. My wife got the BLAT, basically a BLT with avocado. She got the garlic parmesan fries with hers, and I got the regular fries as I usually do.

The first thing I noticed when we got the food was how crisp the toast was. Usually, for takeout, the Texas toast softens a bit by the time we get home with it, which I do enjoy so much to be fair, but this was just as delicious and more satisfying with that crunch. The chicken was thick and juicy as normal for them, and the toppings were fresh and well done. But be prepared with your napkin because these sandwiches are very greasy to the touch! I personally don't mind that, but it's definitely not a meal you eat while on your phone. It certainly earns its place on the comfort food menu!

My wife really enjoyed her BLAT, too. The ingredients seemed very fresh and well presented.

We both got full enough on just half of our meals, so if you don't want leftovers, consider splitting an entrée and maybe dessert while you are at it. The appetizers are normally pretty fantastic as well, so you can't go wrong on either side of the main course.

They have some great options for the kids, too. I would recommend the Mac and cheese, which comes with garlic Texas toast and grapes, and the toast is worth the meal in and of itself.

All in all, I will always recommend Wilder's in Appleton if you are up for some great quality food that fills that comfort niche without being super unhealthy. Whether eating in or taking out, you will be in for a tasty treat!

Everything from the first phone call with Judy, to start the ball rolling.....to the outstanding foods made fresh by Terrance and Connor. Amazing!! Judy made sure our needs were addressed and that everything went off without a hiccup!! Very seldom do I take the time to write reviews for places I’ve eaten unless the quality was exceptionally good (or bad in some cases) this is one case where I wish I could give more than 5 stars. My husband and I decided to do date night and we were WOW-ed from start to finish!

The hostess was friendly and energetic (even after a massive rush of people) she was up front about wait times and let us know it would be about 45 minutes for food but if we ordered apps we would get those sooner- communication was SPOT ON! Had we brought our toddler with us, it might have been a different story but we had the time and 45 minutes was not a big deal at all (especially once we got our food)

Our waitress was very kind and gave excellent recommendations when i asked for her opinion for different things on the menu. We ordered appetizers- stuffed mushrooms, cheese curds, fried avocado and fried deviled eggs. All of which were delicious and brought out in a very timely manner. The stuffed mushrooms and cheese curds were the winners of the appetizer round for my husband and I.

Our meals came out piping hot and were absolutely amazing. My husband has the lobster mac n cheese, I had the Bistro Melt. Both were spectacular and filling.

We will ABSOLUTELY be back again in the future! Great food, service and atmosphere!!

I live in Illinois went to Wisconsin to get away. The cheese curds were delicious. My side salad and my buttermilk ranch was delicious. My prime rib was tender and juicy. The food was Great but after we ate we went into the bar and were promptly told, she was closing the bar in 1/2 hour, it was 8:30 pm, on New Year’s Eve and there was a Packer game on that night, the 6 of us had planned on spending a copy of hundred dollars on after dinner drinks but sadly you closed in 30 minutes. We ordered one sandwich and two bowls of soup. After 1/2 hour of waiting we were given one wrong item, potato salad instead of a soup. Waiter said the cook would “make the soup now”. How do you have it on the menu but not made ahead? Both bowls were barely warm. The potato soup was so heavily seasoned it was inedible. Spoke to manager and they did nothing for us. I told them we were not paying for the one bowl and would never come back. Guess they were too busy getting ready for a big party in back rather than take care of customers. Awful service, mediocre food at best. I still left the inexperienced waiter a 20% tip. Will never go there again. It used to be a great restaurant.

What a welcoming and friendly crew they have!

We were seated promptly, and Jess was our server. The menu was diverse, but not so diverse to make you wonder if they didn’t know what they were doing.

My wife enjoyed one of the drink specials, and I ordered an old fashioned. Both drinks were well prepared, and flavorful.

While enjoying some time with each other discussing life, the owner popped by to greet us. We had a wonderful conversation.

Our food arrived shortly after, and was enjoyed by all.

Wilder’s is a great spot to enjoy truly great food, and slow down a bit to enjoy each other’s company.

Got 25 min for a meal, go hit a drive thru.

Otherwise, go try Wilder’s. Great people, great food, and a great atmosphere!

Overall, very good experience. The quantity and quality of food compared to the price is five star. There are days where the owner and chef is not cooking and the food does not meet standard, but it is few and far between. Terrence is an amazing chef, and I’ve never had an issue when he was cooking. There is a vast menu selection and I would recommend any specialty item in red on the menu as they are all phenomenal. The drinks are usually very good. The wait times on fresh barbecue can be up to 45 minutes but most of the other items come out quite quick, keep that in mind. It’s on my very top list of places to go on Fox Valley and would always recommend to anyone.

The menu is expansive and a lot of the combinations of ingredients look very delicious.
I think the execution of the dishes could be improved. All my food was edible but a lot of it was not made to order as I was asked how I wanted things done. Not sure if the communication didn’t make it all the way through to the kitchen or the chef just likes to overcook everything.

I will definitely give them a try again bc their menu has many delicious looking items on it.

After reading several great reviews I was very disappointed in Wilder's. The food was well below average. Poor executed bar/cafeteria at best. The service was friendly but very slow given there were only 2 other tables being served. The atmosphere was different. We have always enjoyed the food here! They have a great restaurant space along with a lounge and tapas attached as well. We had our wedding here and it was the perfect space for it. It held 80-90 people, and we were able to have the ceremony and reception all at the same place which was fantastic. Judy, Terrance and all of the bartenders and servers made the process look seamless and made the experience non-stressful and we were able to enjoy the day as newlyweds. There could have been a better, private space for the bridal party to wait before the ceremony but they are a restaurant so I understand that it may be a bit difficult to accommodate that. This is a great event space for weddings, baby/bridal showers, graduations and more and the food is amazing, and we will definitely keep Wilder's in mind for our next event!

I went here on a Thursday & got the Mahi tacos. They were FANTASTIC. So fantastic that my husband & I returned two days later on Saturday! I got salmon BLT & we split a BBQ Pork Eggroll that was on special..let me tell you, I could have returned again two days later! Update, went back tonight and had Eann for our waiter and he was very polite, attentive and made our experience very joyfully. Food was great!!! Can't get enough of this place.

Our server was amazing and very attentive. They were honest about an hour wait for food and we were completely fine with that. The food was not in his control. The apps were delicious but the steak was off on flavor. It tasted more compared to a brisket. Just was not what I had in mind for a $ 30 steak.

Went here for valentines & was excited to try their food & drinks…. Unfortunately it was a horribly disappointing experience.
My boyfriend ordered the ribs & definitely got food poisoning from them. They do not fall off the bone or melt in your mouth like others have stated in their reviews. I ordered the salmon blt, it was okay, nothing to write home about.
The oddest part of our experience:
Both my partner & I are not from the area, therefore, we do not have in state identification. We are both well above the legal drinking age & were denied service because we have out of state driver’s licenses. So if you are visiting from out of state and want to enjoy an adult beverage with your meal, I would strongly suggest not going here, you’ll most likely be denied.

We honestly should have left and regret doing so, it was a waste of our money and time.

Our waitress was the only redeeming quality of this “restaurant.”

My wife had a lunch meeting here this week and raved about how good the food was, so we had to go for lunch today. She wasn't wrong. The food was amazing. I usually dont have a hard time deciding what I want off a menu, but on this menu, everything looked good. I had the Quesa Big 'Dilla (love the name). It was everything I would expect out of a quesadilla burger. So flavorful. I had sweet potato tots as my side that were really good. My wife had the Smoked Salmon BLT (waiters recommendation), and let me tell you, this thing was PACKED with flavor. There is so much more I want to try on this menu. We will be back for sure.

This food at this restaurant was not good. My girlfriend and I ordered the breaded avocado and Mac wedges to start and both of the appetizers had no flavor whatsoever. Secondly, the sauces that were used in the appetizers we very runny and diluted. We also both ordered 2 mock tails and the sprite in the drink had no flavor/syrup. I asked for a new sprite and it had no taste! They said their machine wasn’t working but still charged me for one mock tail because I still drank it because I was thirsty. My girlfriend had the salmon blt but the salmon had no seasoning or flavor whatsoever. I had the meat combo with brisket and salmon and I did not even eat the salmon as it was horrible. The brisket was ok, but the beans Mac and cheese and cornbread were horrible. The cornbread was dry and crumbly and the Mac and cheese was hard and had no flavor. I didn’t eat the beans because I don’t eat bacon and that was already mentioned to my server. If I had known it had bacon I would have not ordered it. The service and atmosphere was rather poor and the food was not it!! This was probably some of the worst food I have ever consumed at a restaurant!! Shame on people who say this place is good.

Pulled pork and ribs are excellent. Meet is perfectly seasoned and flavorful without need for covering in BBQ sauce. Chef’s expertise comes through to taste the meat and not a thick sweet sauce…something you don’t get to experience in most restaurants. The black eyed peas were wonderful! Service was excellent to top off fantastic meal.

They were short staffed and busy. Told us there would be a 45 minute wait for the food after ordering. It took quite a while for them to actually take our order, but other staff kept checking on us. The food came at almost 45 minutes as promised, and it was well worth the wait!
They also had trivia going on in the other room so they were quite busy!

We were driving through Appleton Wisconsin and were looking for a place for lunch. We saw a place called Wilders Bistro on a restaurant guide and thought it was a cool name, so we decided to stop there for lunch. When we walked in, the place was spacious and decorated with an Italian architecture along with a nice large bar attached when i walked around and took some pictures.
We were seated by very nice hostes. As we talked to our waitress, she gave us a couple of her favorites to try. I tried the Smoked Salmon Blt, and my son tried Aunt Ida's Mississippi Mac. As far as our waitresses' recommendations, they were both amazing. The salmon was flakey and moist with one of the most amazing flavors I have ever tried. The bun, sauce, and the thick, crispy bacon were amazing accents. I chose the mac & cheese as my side, and I was not disappointed. It was delicious. Now, to my son's choice, Aunt Ida's Mississippi Mac. It was a nice portion of Mac and cheese topped with a generous portion of pulled pork. As for a side, he had baked beans, and I got to eat them, and they were good also. All in all, this stop turned out to be a spectacular experience with some amazing food and a 5 star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ review from me and my son.

Had the evening with my wife and youngest child and decided it was time to pay Chef T a visit here again, it’s honestly been way too long. We were greeted immediately with friendly smiling staff, it reminds me of going to a family’s home. Everyone is so warm and welcoming. We snagged a few appetizers (Mac and cheese bites and stuffed mushrooms) everything’s homemade, fresh, hot, delicious. I’ve known T for many years, and he’s never sacrificed quality , ever. Liz ordered a beer from Wilders great local craft list! Our server was very knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. Our dirty dishes were hauled away promptly, and our drinks were never low for long. I was so happy to see the smoked meat selection has been added in with all of my favorites. I had to get the brisket, ribs, andouille combo with cornbread and some sides. Brisket A+ , juicy, smoky, incredibly tender. No sauce necessary. The ribs were the extra meaty kind of baby backs, and also incredibly smoky flavorful juicy and tender. Andouille? Get out of town. It was awesome, and I don’t see andouille a whole lot on menus. Smoky with a bit of spice and exploding with flavor. The cornbread was moist and came with melted honey butter. It’s like Chef read my mind on exactly how I like to eat my food. Anyway, the portion sizes are generous and I cannot say enough good things about dining here in all aspects! I’m not sure I want to eat anywhere else in town anymore. Every time I come here it’s incredible, and every time I come here it’s better than the last. Well done chef!

We dropped in for lunch and enjoyed it. They do have a lunch menu. I appreciate that, I don't always want a giant full lunch. The prices were very reasonable. We had the fried avocado for an appetizer. On the lunch menu they offered small plate appetizers. The dipping sauce was yummy. We also got the burger with egg and holidase sauce. It was very good. We also had the Aunt Nenny's sandwich and enjoyed it The bread was perfectly crisp and buttery. The bacon was thick and flavorful.
The service was excellent. Great atmosphere, it's pretty unique inside.
Update: A few months later and we would say it's not changed. Did Try Fall drinks and they were very nice! They had nonalcoholic mixed drinks too!

The food was very good. Well prepared. The back area where we were seated was a little lackluster in comparison to other pubs. The service was the big loss in our evening. It just seemed like our waiter just forgot about our table. But I also understand that maybe it was just a ruff night. I absolutely will be back another time to try something different on that wonderful menu.

This place never disappoints! It's seriously one of the best places in Appleton. We love having a local place that offers good Cajun options. I could name our favorite dishes but it would be a long list, but last night we had the shrimp and grits, catfish poboy with fried okra and stuffed mushrooms. Been going here for years and frequently went during covid when this place wasn't doing indoor dining. I always get the garlic stuffed tenderloin. It's my favorite steak in the area. It comes with vegetables, mash potatoes, and a salad. When I ordered tonight, I only received a salad and steak. When I called to ask where the rest of it was, they said it comes with a house salad OR the mashpotatoes and vegetables. $30 dollars for a steak with no sides and a tiny salad. The foods great here, but for the money I'll go somewhere else now.

Intimate atmosphere, extensive menu choices, and outstanding food quality make this restaurant a standout. Highly recommend trying the steak and ribs for fantastic value. The staff was attentive Now let's get to the food, I had the Jambalaya ricotto and it was very flavorful, My wings were made just like I ordered. The Henny glaze sauce was my preferred. I did try the banana pudding and I wasn't a fan of it. My Co Co mojito was ok, wasn't too fond of the film on the glass, kinda of gave it an Alka seltzer residue look. Yes, I will return, to try something different.

I went back a few times so here are some updated pics, and more comments. This time I took my family, the portion are nice, I had a pineapple mojito and a mango, it was nice! Especially their happy hour buy one get one! We also tried the buy 3 meats platter, you definitely will need a box to go!

The food was great. We go in there, and an entire 80th birthday party with 50+ people is there. Didn't think much of it. We ended up waiting an hour+ for our food. I was understanding because I was in a party of 15. But we started eating, and 5 minutes later at our table, a lady came to us and asked if we wanted boxes. That is a little pushy for me. I am pretty sure that is not what they were meaning, but it did come off as pushy. Especially because of how long we waited for our food. My second thing is that the music was way too quiet and did not match the mood of the restaurant. Overall, it was a good experience.

Wilder's has really tasty ribs with exclellent sides. The ribs are a great value because you get a hearty (pound and a half) rack accompanied by sizable portions of mac and cheese with cole slaw and garlic toast. They also offer a double rack, but that's just crazy talk. We were well stuffed after eating the single. We also enjoyed the fried okra appetizer. The place is nothing fancy, but it's comfortable and the staff is attentive and friendly. They have a decent beer selection, too. We look forward to going back again. My third visit was a disappointment. Our smoked garlic stuffed tenderloins were tough, and I suspect that garlic might have been burnt somewhere along the line. My date took only a few bites of hers. They had an off night, I guess.

We are staying in Appleton this weekend. We were looking for a place to dine. My wife read the reviews for Wilders Cutting Edge Bistro and they warranted us to give them a shot. From the time we walked in the door with the Hostess Amanda’s cheery greeting to being served by EAnn the experience was wonderful. E Ann was very knowledgeable about the drink and entree menu. He was very engaging and always showed up at the our table. As one who is in the Restaurant industry they did an amazing job with quality and portion size. Kudos to the entire staff for being on point. Thank you for a wonderful experience gang. We will be back
