Love the pizza and atmosphere. Wait staff was good. Had to subtract 2 stars because when we got the bill there was a "service fee of 3.7 percent". No explanation of what it was for. No reference to a credit card fee. (We paid cash). On the way out we grabbed a menu and saw at the bottom of the menu that a "maintenance fee is added". This stuff drive me nuts. Roll it into the price or exclude it from the start.

I have to edit this review because today something really kind-hearted happened. I came by planning to get a drink but instead I made some new friends unexpectedly. Then I locked my keys in my Firebird.
I guess the police don't help with this and the tow company wanted so much money that I would have missed rent. They wanted over 300 bucks. But then the Willow River people came out with some duct tape and a coat hanger and they managed to bust me into my car. Legendary! I was already loyal to this place.... Now I'd take a bullet for it. Thanks guys! You got me into my Birdie. 😁😁 Absolute epic Legends here.

A truly special and memorable saloon. A couple months ago I was here and something unforgettable happened.. I absolutely love this bar. One of the best atmospheres and some of the kindest bartenders you'll find this side of Wisconsin. Better than anything you find in Minnesota.

I went to Carbone's / Willow River inn. I was expecting pizza and only Italian food. What I saw on the menu was burgers, broasted chicken. They sell their own homemade pizzas. They sell ice cream they have a soft serve ice cream machine for ice cream cones. I had the Benny Burger medium rare it was cooked perfectly flame broiled toasted buttered bun. I also had the flat french fries which were seasoned and super crispy I would recommend them. Great service great time I'll be back.

Terrible service, was ignored by the staff. Once we finally got a waiter we ordered drinks. It took 30mins to get the drinks and I was fine with that. I wasn't ok with people that had come in 45mins after us were almost done eating. When I finally asked about our order. I was ignored. Then 10mins later was informed my order was never placed. 🙄
I'm more disappointed because I wanted to purchase frozen pizzas for the trip home. So now off to try and find a different place to eat before the trip home. Sadly won't be back this way again to give it another try.

What an absolute gem of small town American hospitality. Broasted chicken was phenomenal - as was the moon man beer by New Glarus.
If you’re going to Willow River State Park, this is the place to go afterwards.

Bobo gave us such outstanding service - really made me feel like I had a new home instantly. I plan to come here every time I ride at Willow River state park, and anytime I’m near Hudson - it’s that good.

Came in for the Mother's Day brunch buffet, and it was so good. They had a great selection of different options. My sister is vegetarian, and she enjoyed all the different meatless options. The prime rib was good. Cooked perfectly and juicy and tender. The crust on it was tasty. I also really enjoyed their ribs. They had a really nice smoke flavor and cooked perfectly. Stopped in for Easter Brunch this morning. Food was just average but what I found annoying was the automatic 20% gratuity added on to our bill though it clearly stated it was for parties of 8 or more. It was just 2 people in my party and while I planned on a tip, I think 20% is excessive on a buffet where I serve myself. I spoke to the server about that and she said the computer does this automatically. This seems not right to me, along with not disclosing what that service fee is for (the one for credit cards) how many people even bother asking about that service fee and just pay it even if they are using cash? Your pizza is good but we will stay away from your buffets in the future.

Stopped on a Sunday morning to have breakfast. Very limited menu. Prices were decent. Food was average. Nothing to speak about! Food came out within a couple minutes of ordering. Service was awful! We just had a fantastic grad party here. The food was on point. The broaster chicken was a huge hit. Everyone commented how amazing it was. The taste and crispyness really had everyone talking. We also had their pulled pork, which was spot on. The smoky flavor was definitely an OMG moment for most who tried it. Willow Rivers homemade potato salad and baked beans were the perfect side dishes for this event. The salad, veggie, and fruit trays were beautifully presented as well. Chris's staff really went above and beyond. Everyone went back for seconds or more and took extras home. There was nothing left for us to take home at the end of the event but the cake. We bought that at Cub foods ourselves. No one had room for cake after the feast Chris and his staff just served us! Many people were so impressed that they also bought a bunch of his frozen pizzas to take home and try.

Great, historic place. Super nice and efficient staff, but the Sunday breakfast special is average. Granted it is only $2.00 (with a mandatory beverage order), but the hash browns were in no way crisp and the bacon is thin enough to read through. Quality of food has dropped significantly in the last 8 years. Pizza is never consistently cooked and not much flavor. Crust is normally burned or over cooked/crunchy. Salads are brown. Fantastic service!! I had a cheeseburger and fries that were average bar fare. My husband had a Philly cheese steak that he thought was better than the norm. After our food arrived, we noticed a lot of people eating pizza. Our waitress told us pizza is what they're known for. So, we also ordered a pizza. Yup... That's the draw, other than the wonderful service and great atmosphere! Our pizza was very yummy. Plenty of cheese and other toppings. I found it was also good the next day when I pulled a slice out of the fridge. the size of this place is deceiving when you look at it from the outside. It's much bigger than it looks and can accommodate many people. Don't hesitate to stop in... I'd go with the pizza as my first choice of food!!!

Ive tried the breakfast. Cheap breakfast. I mean cheap! Lets just say you get what you pay for! Small plates and usually burnt. Called on a Sunday night for pizza on my way home from the water. Website said not busy. Got put on hold instantly by Sophie before I could even place an order. Heard some girls talking and giggling about boys and nothing important. Then silence and some background noise. She never came back to the phone so I hung up. Called back 5 minutes later. Same thing... instantly Sophie says please hold before even saying hello. Then on my way by the parking lot was empty. What a joke. Obviously don't need my business so I'll go home an make my own. Thank you for nothing! I'll spread the word about the service.

I had an unsatisfactory experience at this restaurant. My order for an unsweetened iced tea was mixed up and I received a sweetened raspberry iced tea instead. Despite bringing this to the server’s attention, the issue was not resolved. The server also failed to check on us during the meal or refill my water. To top it off, I was still charged for the incorrect iced tea on the bill. This is not an isolated incident as I have had similar issues at this restaurant before.

Loved every minute of our experience. New to the area I pass this dual establishment twice a day, 5 days a week. Last night we decided to check it out.
Carbone's is a wide open, seat yourself, seemingly local restaurant. Heather was our cheerful, knowledgeable, attentive waitress. The place was packed and yet the restaurant remained pleasantly quiet. With no partition or walls I can only imagine how this design would not work with some locations but here, patrons are low key and polite.
I ordered the veggie pizza minus green olives. The pizza was hot, the crust was thin, loaded with toppings (fresh not canned) and quite simply delicious! My other half ordered a pepperoni, sausage and bragged about the deliciousousness of his as well. Heather checked on us often, smiling each time.
Such a Geat experience, will definitely be back, thank you!!
