You can't sing its praises enough from the moment you enter the door you feel like you got transported somewhere else
Then the staff treats you great if you're a repeat customer. Most likely, you will either be greeted or leave with a hug from Ernesto, who will make you quite possibly the best drinks you've ever had. The food is always more amazing. Zacatecas is an exceptionally clean restaurant with fantastic quality food that could be compared to a higher end Mexican supper club. If you are looking for ground beef tacos and frozen margs look elsewhere. If you are looking for a hand made margarita with higher end liquors, and unique flavorful appetizers and dishes Zacatecas is a fantastic place. Attention from the servers is top notch and food comes out at a pace typical with a quality meal made from scratch. Walked in before 7pm and took a minute to be greeted. Asked for a table for two and were asked if we had reservations. Had an early dinner which was spectacular! We had 3 seafood dishes: Mahi-Mahi, Salmon and Seafood Enchiladas. All were enjoyed- I had the enchiladas which were the best I’ve ever had. The seafood was grilled, then baked into the enchiladas, giving such a an amazing flavor. We’ll be back!

If you want an amazing dinner I suggest you go there as well.

Arguably the fanciest Mexican restaurant in Fox Valley.

Atmosphere is good with well decorated space.

Drinks were good (I recommend the Bourbon Scratch) but they are on the pricier side for about $15/drink. There are a couple drinks that you most likely make at home and not worth the price tag.

In my experience, food was always great. Been there about 3 to 4 times now, and most of the time I ordered off the special featured menu. What’s that for me: The mole, the Barbacoa, the bacon-wrapped shrimp. A few of my colleagues also recommend the Asada.

Overall, a great place for a upscale Mexican food, they’ll be ready to spend up to $50 per person if you order a few drinks, appetizers, and an entree.

We were pleasantly surprised, great restaurant. It becomes abundantly clear how much pride goes into everything they do here. The service was as on point as the Crab Cakes. And those just left you wanting to experience everything on the menu. The C.Cakes were well executed on some greens that complimented it really well. It was a cold beer and taco sort of night. My wife and I were looking forward to trying the food because of the amazing looking menu and online pictures. When we got there we asked if we could have a drink at the bar (there were only two people at the bar) and the hostess rudely said no we will seat you in the dining area now. So we were seated at the dining area but still looking forward to the margaritas, a little pricey at $14 for a smaller glass but who knows they may have been worth it. Well after 15-20 minutes not one person came to take our drink or food order so we decided to walk out. As we were leaving a gentlemen (possible owner or manager) asked why we are leaving and I informed him that after waiting 15 minutes for someone to take our order we decided to leave. He said "okay", not even offering to get us a waiter/waitress. Too bad, so sad but sometimes its good to walk away from places that seem to think only their regulars deserve proper service. BTW, even though to was 7:00 on Friday night the place was maybe 1/3 full which was kind of "telling" based on our experience.

My recent visit to this Mexican restaurant was extremely disappointing and left much to be desired. Upon being seated, I ordered a Diet Coke while my girlfriend requested water. Despite the initial promise of complimentary chips and salsa from an older gentleman who informed us of the bi-weekly specials, these never arrived.

We endured a lengthy wait of over 20 minutes for any form of service while observing other tables, which had arrived after us, receiving attention. It is important to note that the restaurant was not busy, with only four tables occupied, a few patrons at the bar, and some outside.

Our table was situated near the kitchen and the exit to the outdoor seating area, yet multiple staff members passed us without acknowledgment. After nearly 30 minutes of being ignored, I left $2 on my plate for the Diet Coke and decided to leave. As we exited, the host was engaged in conversation with another gentleman, seemingly unaware or unconcerned about our plight.

While the specials looked promising, the level of service was profoundly underwhelming. This experience was one of the worst I have ever encountered at a restaurant, and as a result, we do not plan on returning.

My fiancé and I attempted to try Zacatecas twice. The first time we were turned down service because we walked in 30 minutes before closing and they didn’t feel like helping us. The second time, we wanted to sit at the bar where two seats were available but they would not allow us and sat us on a couch instead. We ordered some drinks and then asked for chips and salsa and were told ‘No.’ We thanked the server and decided to leave, as this put a horrible taste in our mouth now for the second time. Tried to go there this evening, return customer from last time I was in town, and they wouldn't serve me because they were busy. I took my 2 kids and myself to Zacatecas tonight at 7pm. The man host would not let me in, told me it would be a 45 minute wait but we can’t wait in the restaurant. We are from out of town, but were staying in the area for the night. Found this place online and had my husband call to make a reservation since it was a Friday night. The hours posted online said they were open until 9:30. When he called they said they closed at 8:30 and that we could not make an 8:00 reservation. Which doesn't make sense, if you are open until 8:30 you should serve food until 8:30! They seemed annoyed that we even wanted to come there. We told them we could be there by 7:30 and they were ok with that. When we arrived the host/bartender seemed pissed that we showed up. Our waiter was super nice though! Food was just mediocre, and very overpriced. Drinks were good. The food took like 45 minutes to get to our table. What really bothered me, is that I watched 2 people arrive at 8:05 and they allowed them to eat after telling us that we couldn't get there at 8??? Ridiculous. I would not recommend this place!

Omg, where do I start!? EVERYTHING was sublime from the minute we stepped in the door. Ernesto gave us a detailed description of the menu with beautiful pictures. Our server Manny provided exceptional service and was so sweet and friendly. The drinks were amazing. I LOVED the Chipotle Margarita rimmed with Tajin. Rude is the only word to describe our experience. Horrible customer service. Arrived at 6:45, asked for a table for 2, was told we needed a reservation , I said we did not have a reservation but asked if we could we put our name in for a table, I was told yes. Was told they would call me when a table was available in approximately 45 min, I said that would be fine. Couldn't sit at the bar for a drink, had to leave and go somewhere else to wait. Never received a phone call. At approximately 8:00, I had to call the restaurant myself,to see if we were going to be able to get a table. He then says yes, now,come now. We arrive and immediately are told the kitchen closes in a half hour and the restaurant closes in an hour. Music was horrible, felt completely rushed, they started putting chairs on top of tables while sitting there. Will never be back again. Props to chef and bartender, food and Margs were delicious, everything else was pathetic.

Mexican owned, like a true Mexican business. Food is some of the most authentic we’ve found within 100 miles, and the whole place still feels high end. I ordered street tacos and they tasted great and nostalgic, and still had high end presentation. All of their drinks are Stunning, and presentations are unreal.

Only thing; you’ll need a reservation. We made it in without one because it happened to be light, but the owner was really a stickler about it and made it feel kind of unwelcoming. That being said, once we made it in and he warmed up to us he was very welcoming and all the servers were terrific. I would have rated them lower if I didn’t feel like it was worth it.

There are 15-20 min wait if you don't have a reservation. We got in and the spot was cold, I think the windows leak.

We waited at the table for 15 min for someone to take our order of drinks and appetizers. The restaurant wasn't full and there were many servers to serve food but one to take orders. It took 1.5 hours for the food to arrive and it wasn't hot, a bit warm. we asked and they said it's not ready many times, but clearly someone forgot about it. Meat was burned but we ate it anyway, paid the bill that wasn't cheap and left unhappy.

Let me start off with if your in a rush this isn’t the place to go. But if you want the best meal you have ever had, this is the place to be. I have spent many years in the military and traveled all over the world and may have had my best meal ever here. We did sit at the bar which has a limited menu but none the less it was still amazing. Ernesto, our bartender walked us through everything. We tried 4 different Margarita’s (all of which are infused and on the rocks). They did not disappoint. We followed it up with oysters in the shell. For the entree we had Grouper, shrimp, octopus, on rice and grilled in pineapple halves. If your looking for a great date night, give them a call, reserve a spot (as with any place right now they are running short staffed) and get here as soon as you can!!! If I could give more stars I would!

It's not like I hated this restaurant, I did enjoy the meal overall. What disappointed me was the service of our waiter and the higher priced food, when in all reality, it was the same quality food as many other Mexican restaurants at a higher price for no good reason. Maybe we had an off night and next time would be better, sadly I won't be giving them that choice due to the fact I have better options I would go to as of right now. They simply did not impress me and due to the poor service, our waiter got a mediocre tip. I don't tip because "everyone does" I tip according to your performance. If you don't show care in your work, then I don't care about the tip. I've tipped people $100 for $20 meal before just because they cared and treated me well while I was at the establishment. Zacatecas is an amazing Mexican restaurant. They have a special menu that rotates every few weeks. It often features seafood, which is prevalent throughout Mexico's coastal regions. Follow them on Instagram to see the latest offerings. Their scratch Margarita is worth the indulgence, though you will never be able to drink what other places call a margarita. My most recent meal was Mahi Mahi fish tacos with shrimp and a tomato sauce, served with maple glazed plantains. Very pretty red & green meal to kick off the holidays in festive downtown Neenah. Just a mile off highway 41, you should stop in on your way to Green Bay or Door County. Good Covid measures in place, too.

This was an excellent spot. Authentic Mexican food!! Not that phony "Tex Mex" stuff. Full bar with excellent margaritas!! They will make you a traditional margarita with tequila, a smokey flavored mezcal one, or an unconventional bourbon one. All are good.

The host/manager of this place understands customer service. My wife and I arrived late on a Saturday night with no reservation. The host immediately offered us a place in the bar that had a more limited food menu. He then proceeded to take care of us like we were VIP's (we aren't). I am certain that he took as good care of his other guests as he did us, but he made us feel like we were the only guests that mattered!! THAT is customer service!!

An absolute GEM in Neenah. Levels above the cuisine in the area and a god send for foodies in what’s otherwise a very “fried/burger” oasis. Their feature item Menu is almost as large as their regular menu, so there is always something to discover... yet their mild salsa, my forever favorite, remains unchanged and delicious. Best Restaurant in Neenah (and possibly the Fox Valley) by a long shot. Negative reviews must be fabricated, we go here biweekly and have never had less than a 5 star experience. Slightly more expensive than typical Mexican food, but that's because it tastes much better than typical Mexican food in the area; it's worth every penny. Salsa was strange at first, but I find myself preferring it this way now that I'm used to it.
The regular menu is great, but the specials (that change every 2 weeks) are a phenomenal experience- I doubt there are many other places in the Midwest that serve Mexican food this tasty.
Sergio and Ernesto are always extremely kind and helpful, couldn't ask for a better experience every time we visit.

One of the best food experiences I’ve had in the valley. Started our night off with jalapeño infused margaritas that were recommended by gods gift to earth, Sergio. Never in my entire life have I met someone more knowledgeable and passionate about their product. The appetizer he recommended was the octopus, which was extremely tender and delicious. My girlfriend ordered the pork tacos that were featured on the rotating menu, and was in heaven. I originally ordered a grande burrito, however Sergio recommended I try the carne asada steak... and wow am I glad I trusted the professional. Cooked to a perfect medium rare and glazed with spicy queso, this dish was out of this world. Our experience was actually so good that we asked to speak to the owner Ernesto to give him the respect he deserves for having an establishment like this in the fox valley. We will be back!

Hands down the best meal I’ve had at a restaurant EVER! I wish I could remember the names of the dishes, I had the appetizer with squid, and the salmon on top of the lasagne. Both dishes were so expertly crafted, absolute perfection. The attention to detail in the textures and flavors was apparent, it’s clear the chef crafting these dishes really knows their stuff! And let’s talk about the margaritas. Best margaritas I’ve ever had, they were delicious, unique, and strong! They infuse their own tequila and let me tell you that makes such a difference. I have never been so completely satisfied with a meal. I could go on and on about this place and how amazing it is. The fact that this place isn’t rated higher is a travesty. The portion sizes were perfect and the price is exactly what I expect to pay for higher end dishes. If you want to get sloppy full on the cheap, maybe this isn’t your place. If you want an absolutely amazing dinner with fabulous margaritas, this is the place! We will be back!

Great, specialty mexican food. Cannot explain how much better this food was compared to your typical mexican restaurant chains, and I even enjoy those. Only problem was one of my accomplices, lol, ordered some shots that were VERY expensive. I think they could have confirmed with him when he placed the first round ($25 each), but really our own fault for requesting them, so no hard feelings. Also wouldn't have bought a second round then either 🤦‍♂️. Overall this place is a little more expensive than most places, but I really think the food is on par with the price. Their scratch margaritas are also a bit pricey, but are much better than typical.

This place is phenomenal. Don't come here if your looking for cheap everyday Mexican food. Zacatecas is a modern superior high end Mexican eatery. The owner and chefs take pride in what they cook and serve. My meal last night was a Filet Mignon in a semi glaze sauce with lobster mac and cheese.(not Mexican right!) My guest had grilled Salmon spinach salad with avocado and mango. Margaritas are fresh and homemade. Plenty of other drinks also.
Other menu items not ordered was a crab quesadilla, a trio of different enchiladas. With covid right now the menu is limited.
It's a nice treat to come for an excellent meal.

First time going to this restraunt and the waiters were exteremly friendly and did an amazing job serving us he recommended food and made sure we knew exactly what we were getting the food wasnt the greatest it wasnt as spicy as I hoped and the salsa was a little weird but the waiters are great and I'm sure theirs food on their alot better I would recommend this place it's not horrible just not the greatest Mexican food I've ever had more of an american version of Mexican food and a little over prices
