Really great food. I am glad we have an Indian option here in Wausau. They have a great selection of different foods and sides. Gluten free is clearly marked on the menu for those who can't have it. There is a large selection of gluten free and vegetian dishes.

The dishes I've gotten were served family style where you primary meal came in a dish and then rice was brought to the table. You can ask for more rice. The portions weren't huge but it's certainly enough food to leave full. The food was very flavorful and fresh.

My only complaint is the last couple of times I've gone in is the music was a little loud for my taste. I prefer a quieter environment when I eat.

The last couple of times here my food was out within 20 minutes.

This is the best restaurant in Wausau, hands down. Nowhere else offers this variety of fresh food and speed of service. This isn't sauce off of a sysco truck or the same recipe for mac and cheese that another bar down the street uses; the meals you get here are truly not available anywhere else in Central Wisconsin. I've gone 4 times now and every time I am consistently impressed with the food's freshness, flavor, and portion sizes. Can't wait to visit again! 🤩

My husband and I went around 6pm on a Sunday. We were sat right away and the server greeted us quickly. The samosas came out quickly and were delicious! She was really helpful since we like spice and asked if the spicy scale was WI spice or actual spice 🤣 The dirty dishes were prebussed quickly and all of the staff was super friendly. I was I coule post a pic of the dinner but we dove into our entrees and naan immediately. We will definitely be back!

So for our wedding anniversary we wanted to try this place and so very happy we did! The food was great the atmosphere was great. The server we had could have had a little more patience with us since we had no idea what certain things were she just seemed rushed and it wasnt very busy at this point. As to the lady behind the desk a word of advice is to make sure your make up is applied before your shift starts. We watched her apply her make up and re-apply it multiple times right at the desk using the tip jar(had a mirror) and chrome strip on the corner of the wall to apply her make up. we were there for an hour and she was doing this the whole time we were there.

Having lived in England for decades l'm very familiar with Indian food.
I thoroughly enjoyed Lamb Tikka Masala ( medium spice). My dining companion enjoyed Butter Chicken( mild spice). We shared raita and garlic naan and for dessert, gulab jamun. Everything tasted very authentic.
The menu is quite large. I think a lunch menu would be a good idea.
Service was good, parking was easy. Definitely recommend.l'll be returning.

Very large menu. If you are not accustomed to Indian food, I recommend viewing the menu before arriving. They give you plenty of time but there is a lot to choose from. My spice tolerance has lessened due to medical reasons, but the mild was the perfect amount for me. The indo-chinese mild was spicier than the tiki masala mild. Both were so rich with flavor. Finally a place that doesn't cater to bland pallets!

Our family was really looking forward to this new addition to the area. Our main draw to the place was Indias staple Dosa on the menu. I called today because we were heading there for the first time but I noticed online Dosa said “out of stock” so I called to see if this was accurate and I’m glad I did or it would have been a waste of a trip. Basically was ignored when we walked in with kids. Bartender looked at us after a couple minutes and asked how many people we had. We told them we had a reservation. No smiles, just looked disgruntled. Hostess came out from the back and stood way over by the bar and pointed us to where we were to be seated. She asked how many kids menu we needed and then said she will be over with menus. 15 minutes later, no menu. No check-ins. People who came after us (nicely dressed) were seated right away and serviced right away. One of the waiters stopped by and asked if we knew what we wanted and we responded we did not get any menus yet. Still nothing afterwards. We can see the hostess just standing at the front by now. Bartenders continue to glance back at us but no interaction. We went went to go ask for the menu, most of us have had enough of waiting. 20 minutes just for us to go seat ourselves and ask for our own menu. Wasn't aware this restaurant was part self service. When we got up to leave, they all looked surprised and a couple waiters started to "come and check in" on us. They asked why we were leaving. Well it's quite obvious we weren't wanted in the first place. Next place we went to, happy faces, serviced right away and great food. We were so excited to try this zaika, but not anymore after this encounter

Went to Zaika Gourmet with my 3 sisters and our kids. We called ahead in the morning to reserve for 14 people for 6PM, we were told they cant make that work since they dont have room but can do 11. We were okay with that and when we presented without 14 people they gave us glares like we did something wrong. We stood for about 5 minutes waiting to be seated even though we reserves ahead of time. No one still seated us, the hostess/waitress just said and pointed that pur table is by the corner so we sat ourselves. Then waited over 20 minutes and no one came to give us menus. Noting that people who came after us got their menus and drinks already. Then when they came over they asked if we're ready to order. We can't order if we don't even know what was on the menu, still no one brought us menus. One of my sisters went up to ask for menus. By then we were done waiting and left. Worst service ever.

I’ve had Indian food in India as well as many other countries around the world. (I LOVE Indian food.) Zaika nailed it. The restaurant was beautiful, the service was friendly, and the food came out fast. Best of all, it was delicious. The prices were average and portion sizes were large enough that my husband and I had some leftovers. An interesting thing was that they accepted our credit card at the table with a handheld reader. (Which is what the rest of the world does which helps prevent fraud; no one is walking away with your credit card.)

I Have had Indian food at many places in America, from South Dakota, Tennessee, Florida and more, some of these places in large cities like Tampa, Tallahassee, Nashville and more. This restaurant in the middle of Wisconsin has taken the cake so to speak. They have dishes from many parts of India, their flavor is phenomenal, and presentation is beautiful! The staff go out of their way to be friendly, courteous and professional. I have been to this location and dined in three times, and had their food four times with some take home. When they first opened their wait times where longer sure, but not to a ridiculous amount, and certainly nothing I have felt uncomfortable with. As the weeks pass it gets better and better as they fine tune their craft, and I see this restaurant becoming a staple of the area. I will contenue to regularly visit as long as I live nearby, and will even come back if i move away. I always am so excited for their food I forget to take photos.

The decor is really nice. The place was designed beautifully and the restaurant is extremely clean. The food was excellent. We had read some reviews that wait times were a bit longer but we knew enough to give them some time to breathe and improve their service since they have only recently opened. We couldn't have been happier. We ate at lunch time which was approximately 11:30 on a Friday and I think we waited all of 10 minutes for all of the entrees to be dropped off at the table. The food itself was excellent. Good portion sizes, attentive service, and everything was delicious. They have a ton of options on their menu. If you're not familiar with Indian food I highly recommend their butter chicken or tikka masala. The garlic naan was excellent. Full of flavor and loaded with buttery goodness. We will definitely be back! I hope they remain in the area for years to come!

I was very impressed at this restaurant. It's the first time we have been able to find Indian food in Wausau, and I was not disappointed. The food is authentic and tastes great. There were good sized portions (not too much and not too little), and the food was very fresh and spiced just right. We ordered the chicken tikka masala and the lamb tandoori along with some naan bread which was cooked beautifully.

We left with an empty stomach and empty wallet. The flavor of the food is good. Naan was partially burnt and arrived cold. It was in a wire basket on parchment paper, rather than covered. Very overpriced naan. I still don’t know what the purpose of the big dinner plates is. The portions were very small. Overall, when the food is served, it is not hot. Salad has no dressing or even salt or pepper. (keeping cultural practice in mind.) Also very overpriced. Chicken was not thoroughly cooked. The beverages are very small. You would really have to order several entrées to make a full meal. We went to IHOP afterwards, because we were still hungry.

We got in on a Saturday at 7, very short wait. Served drinks and naan right away. We enjoyed the samosas for our appetizer. I could have eaten another order. Had a great spice and texture. I had Kadahi Chicken and she had Tikka Masala Chicken. Aromatic and tender. We had trouble deciding what to get off the lengthy menu. We enjoyed the comfy seating, vibrant patterns. Attentive waiter. The first and only Indian restaurant in the area. They are very new and working on streamlining the operations. Food taste and quality were excellent. The atmosphere is very good. Food is truly made to order and takes time to be prepared and served. Visiting this restaurant will need a lot of time and patience. We waited 1 hour for our table and an additional 30+ minutes for food to arrive. My personal recommendation to the restaurant is please serve the appetizers first so that the patrons have something to eat while waiting for the main food to arrive. LOVE LOVE LOVE THE FOOD! My only complaint is that we had an online to go order for pick up at 6 pm and we think it given out to the wrong person. We ended up waiting until almost 7:30 pm to get our food and were told multiple times they were about to bag it up when they weren't. Definitely excited to come back in the future but highly recommend making sure people who are taking to go orders have them confirm which orders is theirs via the check number. I think it would help smooth out having the kitchen remake orders and save some time. Hopefully my next review can be a 5 star!

All around great experience! This is a newer place from what I've heard so the wait might be a little longer as we did experience, I don't think this is a big deal, you can understand the struggles especially if you work in food service. The food was excellent and the wait staff kept us updated and apologized for the wait which was not a big deal at all and they were very friendly. It's nice to see authentic food like this at a good price we spent less then $60 and we got an appetizer, sodas, and a side all on top of our meal which I think is quite fair with what we got. Give it a try if you like tasty food. The only complaint I have is because I got medium heat and I should have gone for hot I love spicy food!

My boyfriend ordered us food to go I got the butter chicken and it was the best flavors I have had!! We ordered it take out and the wait was not to long. He said you could smell the spices outside and the atmosphere was bright warm and inviting. The garlic naan bread was DELICIOUS and servings were big will be back for sure

I have been praying for an Indian restaurant in Wausau for a LONG time, and im so happy Zaika opened! The food was amazing, the flavors were unmatched, the wait staff were helpful, and the owner was friendly. The wait to dine in was long (45 minutes) and the food came out one dish at a time, but those things can be fixed with practice. I will definitely be telling everyone about this place!

It was my first time trying Indian food! It was busy, as expected, as they just opened a couple days ago. My partner and I did have to wait a bit for the bartender to get drinks, which didn't bother us. I ordered the Tikka Masala- Chicken (spiciness mild) and Nann Bread. Drink-Lychee mojito mocktail 10/10

The food was absolutely phenomenal. The flavors are absolutely amazing and the food is made specifically for you and it shows. The care and detail to everything is amazing. The restaurant is beautiful and clean and open and fresh. The service was wonderful. People came and asked how our dinner was multiple times. They were very attentive. I will be back. It was a treat and I can’t wait to try more on the menu. The menu is extensive and interesting and everything is explained wonderfully. They offer many dietary restrictions, including gluten-free and plant based and spice level. I left with a full belly and a full heart. I can’t wait to go back.

We were excited to try this place. We came the second day after opening so we kept that in mind with the review.

To keep it short, wait time was long, food was hit or miss, and service was ok.
The Pani Puri (hollow balls filled with potatoes and vegetables) and the Shabnam Ke Moti ( house special mushrooms) were both a bit disappointing.
That said, the Samosa Chaat was excellent and although it was an appetizer we’d eat that as a dinner- it had great flavor. The garlic naan was really good so I assume all the naan options would be as well. We had pomegranate mocktails were super yummy.. Overall, we would go back and try some other choices from their very extensive menu. The ambiance is just fine, the bar is nice, but would have been nice to see some more Indian decor and music.
The owner came around and checked in on the patrons, as they were aware that they’re still “ working out the kinks. Definitely give it a try. Just maybe give them a week or two.

Such amazing food, but you guys really need to get your priorities straight. We got seated right away, but it took an hour and 35 minutes for us to get our dishes. Way way way too long even for a new business. I would love to try this place again, but I don’t have that much time to sit around waiting for food. Hopefully you guys can figure something out so that the next time I show up, I can actually give you guys five stars. I don’t think anyone’s going to want to return if they have to wait this long for their dishes to come out.
My server never checked on our table. I said excuse me, sir, three different times and got no response. I had to walk up to the front to ask someone else for a to go container.

We tried the saag paneer,rumali roti and garlic naan, and each dish was perfectly cooked with authentic seasoning. The naan was soft and fresh from the tandoor, and the sauces were rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The portion sizes were generous, and everything tasted fresh.

Service was attentive without being rushed, and the staff took time to explain dishes and recommend pairings. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it a great spot for both casual dinners and special occasions.
