Pouring rain out on a Saturday date night. After coming down 27TH St.two miles we saw Zebbs big sign. Got out of car, got soaked‼️ entered their doors and… the red carpet was rolled out. Courteous immediate greeting followed by finding us a table near back away from cold a/c.
PANO seated us w/ menus and came right back carrying two white hand towels to dry off from the rain‼️ Is this a five-star ⭐️
bistro? That was an extraordinarily courteous gesture on his part. It’s so rare to find anyone go out of their way for your comfort. Soooo appreciated‼️

Food best ribs and breasted chicken so hot, had to nibble on their fabulous salad!
Everything in the plate was beautifully presented!

We like this place better than Omega, our breakfast’s were excellent. They definitely don’t have as much offerings as Omega but our breakfast didn’t even compare to across the street, Zebb’s was MUCH better tasting! The reason for the 4 stars is the false advertising!!! The menu price and the price they charge are different!!?
They need to update the menu they give you!!
( ie. $13.99 is really $14.98!!! ). Not that big a deal but still, maybe they could just tell you or ink over the old prices? ( I looked online and for some reason the prices are even higher ???) Also beverage prices are high !!! Updated menu would give them pretty close to a 4.5 -5 stars for our breakfasts. We paid $53 after the tip of $9 but prices are surely going up… Mine was their meat lover’s skillet with tons of very good tasting meats and tons of cheddar, mini reds, mushroom, onion with scrambled and my wife ordered off their flyer menu,a Mexican red sauce seasoned steak and cheese skillet with green peppers,tomato, onions,jalapeños, mini reds,cilantro that came with fried quesadillas. So if you REALLY like HOT!!! Which she loved! We could only eat 1/2 and took the rest for tomorrow. 😋 I did eat the tasty pancakes though! I like their coffee better too! Good Morning!!!

I called when I got home, 25 minutes later, because I noticed they forgot my aunt's soup. They said they were closed and I could come pick it up tomorrow. First off, I live 25 minutes away, second, they have different soups everyday. And third, how is that gonna help my 79 yr old aunt who eats soup before every lunch and dinner? Their fish fry is so tasty but that missing soup was bogus. They should've offered to deliver it or comp her meal. What do they care, right?

Have you ever had the Turkey Dinner??? Well it is my all time favorite over and over again. Tender. Flavorful. Delicious. Every time we go there I’m for sure going to try something different. The menu is fabulously extensive. I can’t do it!!!
The portions are generous enough to take some home for lunch the next day. Truly yum!

The food, as always, was wonderful. Having moved across town, I don't get out to the 27th & Morgan area a whole lot anymore, so we decided to hit Zebb's this evening, as opposed to Royal India, which has recently changed owners, name, and menu.

We found ourselves standing with a fairly large group of people when we entered, and the place was quite busy, suggesting a wait, but to our surprise, we were seated after about 3 minutes of confusion at the front of house. We were the last to arrive, but the first to be seated, possibly because we were the only 2-top waiting. This confusion/indifference from the front of house continued throughout the meal.

Our order was taken as normal, drinks came out quickly enough, and the food followed shortly after. The kitchen is semi-open and you can hear the back of house communicating and coordinating with each other as a well-oiled machine!

My wife ordered the double cheddar burger and fries, and I ordered the roast turkey dinner. Both meals were better than they had any right being at a huge-menu family diner. It is impressive how good the food is for how big their menu gets. Compliments to the back of house for such a job well done.

Unfortunately, the front was another matter. We watched a screaming match between the host (manager?) and a server, who asked if he should walk out or stay. It was not only unprofessional, but flat out weird, because he stayed and took care of his tables better than our own server, who spent more time standing at the window and talking with her coworkers than serving tables. When she did come by, it was swift and dismissive. Yes, we got our drinks refilled, but absolutely no banter at all... no "how you doing, how is everything tasting, etc" that you'd expect with a mid-meal check in.

She asked if we wanted boxes. I did (the food IS good, after all,) but I also wanted dessert... she brought the box and the check and dropped it on the table without a word. Confused, we boxed up our meals, sat there like idiots for 10 more minutes, and she came back and said "oh hey, I dropped your check right here if you missed it" and started to rush away again... I had to stop her and ask if I could even order dessert, and she acted like I was stupid for needing to ask... like a dismissive "well, YEAH, OF COURSE you can. What do you want?"

I wanted a banana split. They were out of ice cream.

Disappointed and a little dejected, I went to pay my bill. It took another 10 minutes of standing around like a moron to do that.

It's one of the very, very few instances I'd even considered dining and dashing, and the only time it was due to the level of unprofessionalism and general negligence from the front of house staff. I'm a little sad I didn't, honestly, but the chefs deserved to be paid for holding up their end of the bargain.

TL;DR - food is great, service is mediocre at best. Worth a single visit, maybe. 3/5.

Round of applause for this restaurant's staff that worked on the night of March 20th, 2025 at approximately 9pm !!! Some jerks skipped out on their bill and the staff was making a report with police when we walked in. So we knew our waitress was having a rough night but she was so super sweet and attentive ! Another younger gentleman in a white chef type coat was absolutely phenomenal at answering my questions about a daily menu item. And the cook ... made our food to outstanding perfection ! Over easy eggs were some of the best we have ever had and the mushroom and swiss burger was just the right amount of pink in the middle and had fresh mushrooms on it ! So sorry I don't remember any names but you know who you are and because of all of you ... you gained our standing ovation and we will definitely be back ! Thanks so much !

I’m a Milwaukee Native. It breaks my heart knowing that Zebbs doesn’t accept orders after 9pm now. That’s enough time to make some mozzarella sticks and a burger? Especially with a Tip for the staff? Am I right? I might be wrong. The staff who were working on 12•15•2024 were not accommodating. Maybe you guys are upset that you’re closing. Who knows.
If the Zebbs owner reads this - Listen - I know you’re about to be bought out soon (sorry) but still help out the working people around you. That’s what you’re about, right?, From when we talked? This is an angry review from an upset customer who was denied entry after many years of service. Maybe that’s why you guys are closing. Forget about the payout you’re getting. I hope the next owners realize who’s willing to be a fortunate customer and pay the staff for their service.

Zebb’s Family Restaurant has great food for a local greasy spoon. They make all their soups, sauces, gravy, dressings and rolls in store. And they are all very good. I went there twice during my weekend in Milwaukee. I had the five cheese tortellini, chicken parmesan, my wife got the omelette and five cheese tortellini. We both loved everything except for the omelette. But, that’s only because it was more scrambled egg with cheese and ham. The Alfredo sauce was great and had lots of garlic and very cheesy. I always like to get the pasta side with the Parmesan with Alfredo ahead the chicken with marina. Most places get confused mess it up. Zebb’s had no issues. The service was just average. It was busy, but not too loud. They do have a few slot machines if that is your thing. I recommend Zebb’s and would go back!!

We just came from a meeting and we went to Omega but they were closed the kitchen was closed. So we decided to try this restaurant we had never tried it before and it was about eight of us. The ceilings had water spots where it had been dripping water there was a bucket in there where water was Dripping into, the waitress was absolutely Goofy it took longer than we expected to get the food was not good at all I can see why there's always just a few cars out there I'm sorry to give this report but that's the experience that I had. And to have guests from out of town you would have thought that it would be a better place for them to eat.

Worst dining experience EVER!! It has been about 15 years since our last time here and it was such a disappointment! Came in on St. Patrick's day for the corned beef and cabbage special. There were 6 of us at the table, 3 of the 6 ordered the special. We ordered appetizers, never got them, ALL of our food came out at different times and ALL were somehow cold. The waitress (whom I believe bathed herself in a lovely ashtray body wash) told my husband 6 times she'd be back with coffee, never got it. In fact, we all only had one single beverage there because none of them were refilled or even offered to be done. The lack of vehicles in the parking lot compared to Omegas should have been a tip off. What a waste of time and money. Just horrible. They used to be fabulous.

Like the only reason, this place is getting a start at all, is because of the waiter. He was amazing. The food was not tasty at all. We were missing items from our orders we had basic orders. Super long wait for food...even though only ordered French toast and a roast beef panini sandwich...when food finally arrived it was lukewarm...herbal tea also warm not hot....don't bother....drive a little further to Pegasus in West Allis for better service and hot food.
