Zuzus has incredible food as far as I can tell. The food here is surprisingly delicious, and has like complex flavors and creative recipes with fresh ingredients. It's not expensive, the portion sizes aren't insane, and it's usually light, tastes good, fresh, and right next to the zoo. I would say this is one of my most favorite restaurants that I've visited so far in Madison, as someone who doesn't go to sit-down restaurants a lot. The cooks here are really good, and I think that has to do with the size of the menu. The quality you get here is like, more value for your buck than most of the casual food places I've been in this city. I recommend this place. The atmosphere outside is okay, considering its right next to an intersection, it can be variable. It looks alright inside. The service is alright.

Only had beverages during outside music performance. Parking is street parking in vicinity of Henry vilas zoo. Bar had great options, plus Italian and French sodas. They put cream in French sodas, not Italian as I was accustomed to...so ask them if that matters to you. We sat on a bench on sidewalk...outside seating was full, inside was mostly empty

Everything here is amazing! Their gyros are the best I've ever had anywhere, period. The Greek bowl was delicious, the drinks are delicious, the pastries are amazing, etc. they even have live music on occasion, such a great place!
Oh and gyro happy hour from 3-6, $4 for a gyro, such a good deal!

Tasty homemade dishes with original and delicious custom drinks. The beer choice was also excellent. I like the outdoor patio best. Cooled by umbrella and breezes even on the hottest day, I was completely comfortable. The owner was super gracious, and if can be there for a live music performance, you will have hit the jackpot!

Zuzu Cafe is a little cafe hidden in the Vilas neighborhood on the corner of Drake and Randall.
It serves daily specials along with a small selection of panninis and other foods.
I had "The Monroe" which is a pannini with smoked turkey, pesto, tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese with chips. The bread had a nice texture and the ingredients were high quality.
The atmosphere is the familiar hipster fare, but the place was welcoming and comfortable. They had no problem with us hanging around until closing.
If you're looking to meet up with friends over good food, I recommend this place.

ZuZu has served what I think of as American and Mediterranean comfort food with flair for about 20 years, kitty-corner from the zoo. They have a nice array of beverages, from Italian soda through the caffeinated and alcoholic, and have frequent live musical events. I've enjoyed watching little kids dance to latin jazz jams, classic rock and even a bluegrass-funk group there at night, while in the morning it's a nice, quiet place to read the paper. Their tasty baked goods always include something gluten free for my daughter. Probably my favorite restaurant. My favorite dish there is probably their chicken jarre soup. Mmmm .

Great little cafe near the zoo. The paninis were crunchy and tasty and big enough for two meals. We ate outside in the first week of October and loved it. Staff were great, too. Also had the hummus plate, nice substitute for a salad. And service was very fast. Will definitely go back for some of the Mediterranean specialties.

NGL I had the worst mocha latte of my life here. I’m pretty sure the espresso machine is dirty because it tasted like old coffee grounds and has little pieces of bean in the drink. The chocolate was all on the bottom and not stirred in. My partner got an americano that was also bad. We threw out the drinks. Sandwiches had cheap deli meat and were only half eaten before we lost our appetite. Just disappointing for spending over 30 dollars on lunch for us both.

My husband got the gyro and said it was good. I got the Zuzu salad and it was super small and paid the 2.50 to add chicken and there was very little chicken as well. It tasted good just not worth the $11+ for it. Also we got one of the drink specials and all it tasted like was club soda and the girl who dropped it off was like sorry if it's not good I've never made it before.
The guy who brought us our food was also super rude when I asked about the salad coming with bread because I thought that's what the board said. We won't be coming back.

This is the first time I ate at this restaurant. I had the Monroe sandwich which was turkey and pesto on a ciabatta grilled and my sister had the Vilas sandwich. The turkey on my sandwich looked like some thing from Oscar Myers deli a processed slice of meat. It had darkened areas at the edges of the meat which did not look fresh. I did point this out to the staff but I didn’t receive a response. We also had a peach, blueberry coffee cake, which was quite good, and their coffee was very good. But I was disappointed in the sandwich and the price that I paid for it.

4/5 — A good spot to stop by if you’re in the neighborhood. Delicious Mediterranean food & coffee. Good atmosphere and customer service + friendly staff!

I just love Zu Zu! I don't actually eat inside restaurants any longer and Zu Zu has outdoor pods. So, even at the start of February on a sunny day it was very warm in the pod!

The people are so nice and the food is really yummy! I love the spinach pie. It is a healthy version with lots and lots of spinach! Don't get me wrong, I can really enjoy a grease bomb with tons of butter and feta (Oakland Gyros - Milwaukee). But this one has a place in my heart too!

I have also had soups, salads and the occasional sandwich. Oh, the Mediterranean Breakfast sandwich is one of my favs too! How could I almost forget about that one! If you like something a little different then this is for you!

Also, the owner has a band that plays here in the summer. I have yet to actually make it to a performance but it is on my list! I often see them playing as I drive by. How wonderful and community oriented!

Pre paid to reserve one of the outdoor domes. Arrived and was told I was expected the previous day. Another staff member confirmed it was for the day we arrived. Dome was supposed to be heated, so we had to wait. At this point, we had already ordered and paid for our meal. Finally, I requested a refund for the dome rental due to the wait. I was bluntly told, "No refunds."

When we finally could enter our dome. The cold metal chairs had no cushions. The interior of the restaurant and domed area was quite dirty as well. It looked like it hadn't had a deep clean in a long time. The exterior was overrun with dead potted summer plants and fall leaves. Looked very shabby and unkempt.

The food was mediocre at best, and hot sandwiches were cold.

I'm so disappointed because it has the potential to be something quite unique.
A little pride in ownership would go a long way to achieve this.

* Yes we we were offered a dome that had seating, with cushions. However, this was lounge seating. Not dining seating. Also, the glass coffee table in that area was disgustingly dirty, and the staff were clearly not going to clean it first. So we opted for another dome.

Yes it is the Fall/Winter season, but most people do fall cleanup. I. E. rake leaves, pull dead plants, put planters away until spring ect.

Go here for breakfast, order the lablabi, and weep for all the other days you could’ve had it but didn’t.

Can’t even make a simple vanilla latte? What I ordered tastes like diluted coffee with microwaved milk. Order it and try for yourself.

The girl that made the coffee also had a horrible attitude.

Three stars because I could take my dog on the patio which was appreciated. Great location. No good gluten free/vegan options. The toppings on the Garfield panini were sparse. Did not enjoy my almond milk latte. The soup wasn’t bad.

What an amazing place! I lived in Madison and ran by this place way too many times before finally eating there. I was always drawn in by the colorful patio and restaurant, and then enticed by the gyro special on Thursday. The gyro absolutely lived up to the hype as did the ambiance of the cafe. Wonderful food and wine selections as well as ice cream! On Thursdays during their special they also have live music. I have now moved to Philadelphia and am so happy I ate here before I left. If you live in Madison, don't follow in my footsteps, eat here as soon as you can!

Tasty place to stop for a healthy lunch. They also have a selection of beer and wine in a reach in cooler (like 6 packs and bottles). I like the Monroe sandwich, although everything has been good so far. Nice folks too. Oh also, there's ice cream, and nice outdoor seating.

A simply delicious breakfast on comfortable morning sitting on the patio can do wonders for the start of your day, and ZuZu Cafe is the perfect place for it. The lablabi stew was fantastic with fresh pita bread and the Athenian gyro and eggs were just as scrumptious. Sitting on the patio watching the zoo-goers was relaxing and simple. Love this place.
